Hey guys, welcome back to another video. Today we are going to give my porch a
little bit of a makeover. So I have been in desperate need of not
only decorating this porch but also giving it a new fresh coat of
paint. I think it's been several years since I have painted my porch
and you can probably tell by these clips. So for months I have had this paint chip
at my house called Intellectual Gray from Sherman Williams
and I've had the intent to paint my porch, my front door,
my window boxes, my garage door, so many different things on the front of my
house this color. I know it's not that crazy of a
difference in color but I have saved so many images on
Pinterest with white homes with this gray color
and it is so beautiful. So I cannot wait to see this on my house.
Besides painting, I'm going to run to the thrift store to see if I can find any
pots or vases I could use for the porch and I'm also going to bring out one of
my old chairs that I thrifted and painted
along with another piece of furniture that I thrifted and painted years ago.
I always love to shop for my home first to see if there's anything I can use
before I go out and shop for new items.
These are some pieces I found today that I wanted to give a little makeover to.
So to start, I'm just going to spray paint them in this color khaki
to give them a good base coat and then I'm going to go over them with a few
different random colors. I'll be sure to include a link to that in the description
time is running out of sight but basically I'm just dabbing paint
onto the vases with a paper towel and I'm starting with the brown color
then the gray and then I go over it with the lighter color.
I felt like this gave it a run-down look like these were pots and vases that had
been sitting out in the weather and that was the look that I was going for.
I'm doing the same thing to these garden tools that I found from at home.
I wanted to find some old vintage tools but since I had no luck at our thrift
store I figured I would just do the same method on these purple tools and make
them look rustic and old. Both of these furniture pieces are items
that I found thrifting years ago and I painted them to give them a chippy look
and because we have a real fireplace and we use wood I love to have wood stored
up here on our porch not only to have a wood element up here but for functional
purposes too. This crate was something I picked up from Hobby Lobby and I have
been searching for a big crate for months so I was so excited to find this
and I found this watering can at an antique shop.
These mini pots and all of the florals I found at Hobby Lobby I wanted to
decorate this crate to make it look functional so I'm adding the garden
tools here along with the gloves.
And then above here I found this peg rail at Walmart and it was just a natural
wood and we stained it the color walnut and I'm just hanging some items here
that I felt would tie this whole area in together.
I found this large basket vase at our thrift store for only five dollars.
I was so excited when I found this and I thought putting some little hydrangeas
in here would look really beautiful so these are just faux hydrangeas and I
found these at Michaels. They were only $4.99 a stem and they were half price
so I got this whole bundle for around $12.
This porch sign is also new and I found this at Hobby Lobby. I have one similar
to this in our dining area and I always get so many comments about that so I
thought this would look so cute hanging off of our porch.
