Hi, my name is MK1 Jeffrey Redman. I'm with the Engineering Systems School Fast Response Cutter
staff at Training Center Yorktown. This video will cover the removal and replacement of the
MTU-20VE-4000 M93L oil level monitoring pump. The MPC that coincides with this task is Alpha
55000 Decimal D. This task will normally be performed as part of a corrective maintenance
upon failure. This video is for familiarization of the task and shall not take the place of
official procedures promulgated by a patrol boat product line. Ensure you follow all safety
guidelines outlined in the maintenance procedure card. Now let's cover the tools you'll need.
13 millimeter half-inch drive socket, half-inch drive torque wrench, 13 millimeter ratcheting
wrench, 27 millimeter combination wrench. Before getting started, the engine lube oil
needs to be drained per MPC Alpha 54024 Decimal D. We've already done this, so let's get started.
Disconnect the connector for the oil level monitoring pump pressure sensor, then remove
the pressure sensor itself. It's a good idea at this point to put some rags in a bucket
underneath the work area. Remove the piping clamps and associated hardware. Loosen, but do not remove
the piping unions at the sump. This will allow the piping to drop away from the pump. Remove
the additional pipe clamps and grommets. Remove the unions for the pipes at the pump and position
the pipes out of the way. We have numbered the bolts on the pump face 1 through 6. 2, 3, 5,
and 6 get removed to remove the pump. 1 and 4 actually hold the pump together and do not need
to be removed. Remove and discard the old o-ring. Clean the mating surfaces and install a new o-ring
in preparation for the new pump. The keyway on the pump driveshaft and the slot inside the pump
must be aligned. The word top is on the top of the housing and must aim upward. It may be necessary
to rotate the pump to align the keyway in the slot. Install the attaching hardware and tighten
to specified torque. It is important to refer to the current maintenance procedure card or technical
publication for tightening specifications and tolerances. These change from time to time by
the manufacturer or other authority. Attach the pipes to the pump and sump hand tight. Tighten
the pump fittings to specified torque. Install the brackets and supporting grommets and then at the
sump, tighten the unions to specified torque. Install the oil level monitoring pump pressure
sensor and then install the connector. Once all installation is complete,
conduct a performance test to make sure repairs were successful.
