Have the people in your life been naughty or nice?
You can show them this Christmas with some easy gift ideas.
Hi, I'm Megan the Crafty Quinn
and welcome to my YouTube channel.
We're gonna start off with DIY number one.
So here are some DIY gift ideas first.
And then at the very end of this video,
I'm going to have some gift basket ideas for you as well.
So we are starting off with trying out the Vaseline trick.
I have not tried it yet.
This is my first time ever doing this in this video.
So please be patient with me
because this was really interesting.
And honestly, you should definitely be using a paint brush
when you apply the Vaseline
because the whole point is you wanna get
enough Vaseline on there that the paint
is not going to adhere when you paint over it.
And then that way you can easily wipe off the spots
that you want to look distressed.
And that is the whole point of this whole technique
is to make your project look naturally distressed.
So I painted over the Vaseline marks
with some plaster chalk paint from Waverly.
It is my favorite go-to color.
I don't know why I just always end up using it.
So we have our project now fully coated.
You just paint right over the Vaseline
like you're painting over just any project.
So you can't even tell,
I mean, well, you can tell in some spots,
but for the most part,
you can't really tell where the Vaseline is.
But once the paint is dry,
then the marks where you've put the Vaseline down
actually start to show through.
So I just took a rag that I don't really care about
because you're going to get paint on it.
So use a rag that you don't really care about
and just wipe over those spots.
You can kind of tell where you made those marks
to begin with,
but you definitely have to kind of look close
and just kind of see if there's any areas
that might've been part of it that you may have missed.
So just make sure you check.
I was like, when I was going through,
I was like, this can't be all of them, right?
Like I thought I put more down.
So definitely use a paintbrush
because you'll get, you know, much better spots coming out.
So this was, yeah, definitely a first try.
So, you know, I'd say for the first try,
I do like the way this turned out,
but I'm excited to like continue trying this out
and seeing how some other projects can look
even more distressed in the future.
So yeah, definitely the more Vaseline you use,
the more easily the paint will come off.
That is what I've learned in doing this trick.
And that's why a lot of people do this with paintbrushes
and especially putting it around the edges,
especially if something's already been stained,
that's a nice kind of backdrop for that as well,
just putting the paint over it
and then taking off the paint.
So here's how it turns out.
So definitely looks distressed,
but on top of this,
we are going to place down this adorable snow ornament
that I just found at Dollar Tree last night.
I went to Dollar Tree, had a bunch of ideas hit me,
and wanted to try them out for this video.
So I love this DIY gift idea in particular
because it's a nice neutral gift
that you can give to anyone.
And, you know, you don't even have to know
what they celebrate this holiday season
or anything like that.
You know, it's just neutral.
It's winter and there you go.
It's kind of holiday-ish, but not really.
And the little pieces that we're gonna place on the top
do look like snow frosted as well.
So that's gonna look even more cute.
But I just love the plaid on this ornament.
So they have really come out with some,
Dollar Tree has really come out
with some adorable ornaments this year.
But I just took two pieces of these little,
I don't know, frosted stems that I found at Dollar Tree.
And I actually first put them together
and I like linked them up.
And then I just used my hot glue gun
and just secured them down at the top of this sign.
I thought about putting it on the top of the word as well
to cover up the holes, but yeah, it just,
it didn't look good.
So I saved the bow that came with the ornament.
And then I just thought, you know what?
Let's just put that right on top of the stems.
But that's really all there is to it.
And this craft is done.
Super easy and affordable sign.
And by the way, the back of this sign is from Dollar Tree.
That is a brand new piece
that came from the Crafter Square section
with the beads on the top and everything.
Just like you would see at a Hobby Lobby.
DIY number two.
So this is probably my favorite, honestly,
from today's video because like, I don't know.
You can just, you can do this for so many people
and it's just so cheap and easy.
So this is a Dollar Tree crate, of course.
And I'm using some plaster Waverly chalk paint, of course.
And I'm just dry brushing this
because it doesn't really matter.
I think it actually looks kind of, I don't know, frosted.
I think it looks more like a winter kind of crate.
So I'm not really caring
about covering this crate completely or anything like that.
So once it's painted enough, I took this Target stamp.
I found this right when all
of the Target winter stuff was just coming out.
And I mean, it was only like a dollar or two maybe
per ink pad and stamp.
So I just used some black ink for these trees.
And this is so perfect.
And you'll see why in a little bit.
But how cute is this?
You could use green, you could use red,
you could use black like I did.
But this is really a bunch of neutral crafts.
So I took this Dollar Tree fabric.
It's like nice plaid fabric.
I just kind of cut off a piece
that I had used for something else.
And then I thought, you know what?
It would be perfect if I could lay this down
like a little blanket, like a little blanket
is like overflowing out of this crate or something.
So that is how I decided to style it.
I just kind of shoved the ends of it inside of it
to make it seem like it would stand out a little bit.
But you really don't need to glue down
or anything what we're about to do next
because this nice little blanket we've made
is going to hold it all together nicely.
We're gonna put some trees in there.
And these are Dollar Tree trees.
They go with the little town village pieces
that Dollar Tree sells.
You can find these trees right there next to them
and they normally come in a two pack.
So you can kind of, you know, do what you like with those.
This really does not cost a lot
and it looks like a high-end gift
that you maybe bought somewhere.
So it's a nifty little DIY gift idea.

So DIY number three.
This is another just cheap little gift.
It's so simple to make and you can give this to anybody.
I used a lot of Mod Podge for this.
So please ignore that.
I put way too much on.
After it poured out, I realized my mistake.
So don't worry, you guys.
So this is way too much.
And especially for what I was trying to do
because we're going to lay down some fabric on top of this.
So as you can tell, I wiped off as much excess as I could.
I didn't see that drip on the other side
until it was too late.
But anyway, you really just want it to dry first
because you can iron on the fabric.
As people have been telling me in the comments,
you can iron on your fabric on top of this,
or you can do what I did.
And I just, I used a hairdryer to kind of make it hot
and make it adhere to this wood piece.
And then I just cut off the excess.
So then I just took this tiny little sprig
and I started just laying it down.
I wanted to kind of form maybe a tree,
but then it looks really awkward.
So I decided not to go the tree route exactly,
but just kind of, I don't know,
make a nice little floral piece,
well, winter floral piece.
And then I just left my star just the way it was.
And I figured, you know what?
You can customize this the way you want.
You can find out what color this person
would like to have the star be,
and then you can just kind of personalize it
to their liking.
But it's an adorable, small decor piece
that doesn't require a lot of effort
and can be made for a bunch of people.
And then it's just, it's so small, it fits on any shelf.
So those were the DIY gift ideas,
but now we're gonna dive into the gift basket ideas.
I went to Dollar Tree last night
and I saw so many things
that would make adorable gift baskets,
say there's a Pollyanna or something at your work
and you have a certain spend limit or something like that.
I have some $15 gift basket ideas,
I have some $10 gift basket ideas,
and I have some $5 or less ideas
in the rest of this video as well.
So stick around and let me show you
some of the things I put together,
and let's compile this gift basket together.
And I'd like to hear from you guys.
What would you put in a gift basket
to coworkers, friends, family?
What are the types of things
you like to see in gift baskets?
Leave a comment down below and let me know your thoughts.
But this is a hot chocolate gift basket idea
I thought would be really cute
because they have these like Swiss Miss marshmallow
and just regular hot chocolate packs.
They're so cute, they're like ornaments.
And then they have like a to from on them.
So, I mean, you could just give them out individually
if you wanted to,
but I put all things that are like chocolate, hot chocolate,
many things that could go with hot chocolate as well.
And that is this hot chocolate gift basket.
And then I thought, you know what?
They also had, Dollar Tree also had these Christmas
or, you know, cookie cutters I thought would be cute.
They make fun shapes.
So all of this stuff is from Dollar Tree,
including the tissue paper and the basket
that all of this is just sitting in.
So this is super, super easy.
And this is definitely in the $15 range,
especially now that everything is $1.25.
This definitely costs around $15, maybe slightly over,
but with everything inside of it.
Well, I don't know, it's 10 or $15, 10, 11, $15.
But yeah, that is the general range of this basket.
Once you add in the actual true cost of everything,
especially if you were to put a little Vaseline chapstick
in it as well, but that is an easy basket idea.
So onto our next gift basket idea,
our own little crafty kitten here.
He especially loved this gift basket idea
because the second he saw the gnome,
he thought it was for him.
So this is a just regular $1.25 gnome.
I could not believe I found them at this time of year.
I thought they would be completely sold out,
but my Dollar Tree still had so many left.
I guess nobody wanted them.
But, so I also found this adorable bucket
and I've seen these at every Dollar Tree near me.
And then these gnomes,
I couldn't believe they came out with two sizes of gnomes
and they're each $1.25, it's crazy.
So, and he thought that that other gnome
was definitely for him too.
But then they had gnome socks.
How cute is that?
So this is definitely a gnome-themed basket,
but more than just a gnome-themed basket,
it is more just a winter cozy basket too.
So I'm just kind of playing around
with how I want to present this,
but we are packing this gift basket together.
So this is definitely more on the cozier side.
You can cozy up with your gnome stuffed animals
and your gnome socks and a nice warm hat.
But when I saw everything that went,
when I thought of things going in this basket,
I thought of cozy at home.
And then of course, put in some hot chocolate packets
because hot chocolate, in my mind, also goes with cozy.
And it is the, you know,
we're heading into the winter season now,
so you need that chapstick, of course.
I don't know about you guys,
but my lips get so dry every season.
So the chapstick is the number one thing
that I would be looking for in a gift.
So we are basically all set.
And here is another gift basket idea.
This one I think is more around, you know,
there's definitely a lot less stuff in this basket.
So this is kind of more around the $10 range,
but the first one, definitely maybe more.
So we're gonna take out the Swiss miss packets.
And then I also thought of, you know, with gnomes,
these are actually the yarn,
the pieces that I made in my gnomes video.
I used these two spools of yarn right there.
So for any, you know, knitters or crocheters in your life,
you could put in some of this adorable dollar tree yarn
in the basket.
So that would be something for them to do
while they're cozy at home.
So another simple gift basket idea.
So here are some even cheaper gift basket,
well, gift bag ideas actually.
And this is, they're, okay, they're really fun.
But so Dollar Tree sells these bags in packs of three.
So, you know, obviously adorable.
They're kind of Christmassy, but kind of not,
because they are kind of like snowflakes slash stars.
But of course, like I said, you know, chapstick,
number one thing for when it gets colder,
easy thing that you can give to anybody.
I truly think it's just a really good
neutral gifting option.
If you can't think of anything.
And then, you know, put some candy in it,
depending on what they like.
And that's really all there is to it.
You know, just a few bucks and it's just a simple gift.
There you go.
And then this is more like a gag gift.
So give this to someone who will appreciate it.
But Dollar Tree sells actual lumps of coal.
And yes, they are candy.
They are like a crispy,
like a chocolate crispy kind of candy made by Palmers.
So yeah, nothing much to it,
but it's a nice way to hide it
by putting it in this little bag,
but definitely a gag gift for a friend.
I thought it was too funny not to include.
So here is a third option, put a lot of stuff in this.
So I was like, okay, can I get these gnome socks to fit?
Because socks are also just a really good,
you know, neutral gift as well.
But yes, I did actually, as much as I'm struggling here,
I did get the gnome socks to fit, I promise.
And that's not all you can fit in here.
Like I'm dead serious, you can do other things too.
Besides the socks, wait for it.
Yep, chapstick again.
But you might be able to fit
maybe some Andy's mints in there too,
if you're not worried about them melting, of course.
But those are just some little things.
You know, these are literally just a few bucks
and so easy to give to anyone.
So that is the third option on this tiny little gift bag.
And then as a final option, just, you know, on its own,
I thought on its own, this bucket was really cute.
You can just put something in there so easily.
And yes, a gnome.
You can put the tiny little plush gnome in there
and you can put some candy canes in there.
Also simple, about $5 maybe for this whole thing.
You know, everything here is from the Dollar Tree,
but it is $1.25, $1.25 now.
So yeah, I did put a little candy bar in there,
but you could throw some Andy's mints in there too.
So really, really simple.
You just grab a couple of bags of Andy's mints
and you can use them in multiple gift baskets.
Maybe you could even throw some socks in there too
instead of the candy bar if you want
and throw that kind of at the bottom.
But really, really simple gift ideas.
There's so many options at Dollar Tree.
You don't have to break the bank
to make some adorable gifts
or just come up with some gift baskets
for friends, coworkers, and family.
So I hope that inspired you to think of some things
for the special people in your life.
