Hi everyone and welcome back to the PD Evolution channel. Today we are going to talk about 10
amazing coach-built cars in the world. So let's take a look and find out.
2021 Touring Superleggera Arese RH95
To celebrate its 95th birthday, Italian coachbuilder Touring Superleggera
unveiled the Arese RH95. The Arese is a mid-engine, carbon fiber supercar.
The car is Superleggera's first mid-engine car and its first carbon-bodied car.
It uses a Ferrari F8 V8 engine with 710 hp and 567 lb-ft of torque, a dual-clutch,
7-speed automatic transmission, rear-wheel drive and needs an estimated 3 seconds to hit 62 mph
from a standstill en route to a top speed of 211 mph. Just 18 examples will be built
and customers will be free to supply their own chassis.
2021 Rolls-Royce Boattail Rolls-Royce recently unveiled its
Boattail with the customer's preferences making its name among the most expensive cars in the
world. This car has been made by the company's specialized coachbuild division. The Boattail
referenced J-class racing yachts for inspiration, both for their purity of form and their hand
craftsmanship. The downward-sloping aft deck incorporates wood and brushed stainless steel
pinstripe inlays as a nod to the typical wooden construction of yachts.
In terms of power, the vehicle is based on the same platform as the Rolls-Royce Phantom,
which has a 6.75-liter, 563-horsepower twin-turbo V12 engine. Rolls-Royce has only
built three Boattails and the coachbuilt vehicles come with features such as a removable canopy
roof. The price for the first unit of Rolls-Royce Boattail is $28 million.
2021 Bugatti La Voiture Noire After its official unveiling at the
Geneva Motor Show, Bugatti's La Voiture Noire is finally ready. The black car is a modern-day
interpretation of Jean Bugatti's lost Type 57 SC Atlantic and took two years to develop.
Some 65,000 engineering hours have been invested to finalize this Chiron-based unique creation,
which has completely bespoke bodywork with an extended wheelbase. The one-of-one vehicle
features a custom body with visible carbon fiber surfaces and a clear coat known as
Black Carbon Glossy. Bugatti claims the special finish generates virtually no reflections,
but plenty of tension and drama. The La Voiture Noire has more than 25 individual units of
high-powered LEDs in each ultra-wide light strip, along with a 3D-printed front grille,
while the ultra-wide LED light strip at the back boasts a single-piece surround with no joints,
a first for Bugatti. 2021 Aston Martin Victor
The Victor is a bespoke, one-off supercar developed by the company's Q division.
Built around a carbon-fiber monocoque from the 177, it was unveiled to commemorate the 70th
anniversary of the Vantage name and named Victor after Victor Gauntlet, the man widely credited
for reviving Aston's fortunes in the early 1980s. Aston Martin says the Victor was inspired by the
Vantage of the 1970s and 1980s. Opening the bonnet reveals the 7.3-liter naturally aspirated V12
nestling under a nest of carbon fiber. Cosworth stripped the engine to its block and completely
rebuilt it to a unique specification. The result saw the 177's original 750 horsepower and 553
pound-feet of torque swell to a more substantial 836 horsepower and 614 pound-feet of torque.
2021 Bentley Mulliner Bacalar The Mulliner Bacalar is a limited-run
two-seater Grand Tourer convertible built as a homage to Bentley's coachbuilding roots.
Mulliner is the world's oldest coachbuilder, starting out around 500 years ago when it
specialized in four-legged transport. Under the bonnet is a reworked version of Bentley's
epic 6.0-liter W12 engine with an output of 650 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque,
paired to an eight-speed twin-clutch automatic and all-wheel drive.
Just 12 examples of this striking limited-edition model are being created,
guaranteeing rarity and exclusivity and offering supreme luxury and breathtaking performance.
2020 Aeris S1 Project The S1 is a supercar built by Aeris Design,
the company led by former Lotus CEO Danny Bahar. The exotic-looking S1 is based on the CB generation
Corvette, borrowing the chassis, engine, gearbox and electronic underpinnings from the American
mid-engine sports car. The heart of the S1 is a normally aspirated V8 making 715 horsepower,
enough to push it from 0 to 62 in an estimated 2.7 seconds and a top speed of around 200 miles
per hour. Aeris will build just 24 coupe versions after which more derivatives will follow.
If you'd like one, pricing starts at $590,000.
2020 Touring Superleggera Aero 3 The Aero 3 takes its inspiration from the
Alfa Romeo HC2900B Speciale Tipo race car that ran at the 1938 24 Hours of Le Mans,
another of Touring's designs. Aero 3 is also based on an existing Italian car,
the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta. No changes have been made to the mechanicals. This means the
6.3-liter V12 sits up front and generates 730 horsepower and 508 pound-feet of torque.
The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and spins the rear wheels only.
Like the F12, the Aero 3 is claimed to hit 62 mph from rest in 3.1 seconds and reach a top
speed of 211 mph. Only 15 will be made and build slots are still available.
2017 Rolls-Royce Sweptail The Sweptail is based on the Rolls-Royce Phantom
Coupe and hand-built for over four years. Inspired by coachbuilding of the 1920s and 1930s,
the Sweptail was commissioned bespoke in 2013 as a one-off automobile at the request of a
superyacht and aircraft specialist who had a unique idea in mind. At the time of its May
2017 debut at the yearly Concorso d'Eleganza via d'Este event, it was the most expensive new
automobile in the world, costing around $12.8 million.
2017 Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta The Zonda HP Barchetta was
unveiled at the 2017 Pebble Beach Concorso d'Eleganza as a present to the company's founder,
Horacio Pagani, for his 60th birthday, as well as to commemorate the 18th anniversary of the Zonda.
Power comes courtesy of the 7.3-liter Mercedes-Benz V12 engine, rated at 789 horsepower and 627
pound-feet of torque, making it the most powerful road-legal Zonda ever produced.
Just three units of the car were manufactured, and prices for the car are an eye-popping $15 million.
2016 Kode 57 Ken Okuyama is the designer of some impressive
cars, most notably the models during his time at Pininfarina, such as the Ferrari Enzo and the
Maserati Birdcage 75th anniversary concept. In 2016, Ken Okuyama revealed the Kode 57.
This will be an additional member of the Limited Edition family, as only five units will be
produced, and the price of each is $2.5 million. The Kode 57 is based on the Ferrari 599,
uses the same 6.0-liter V12 engine massaged by Novatec to deliver 690 horsepower.
