Bricklaying - Bricking Up a Door
Back on the job it's time to brick up the door. First of all we are going to tooth out the bricks
at the side of the door. What I mean by toothing out is taking these halves out here. So I'm going
to make cuts down each one of these bed joints. Then this side all the way up there. I'm just
going to prop that there with an acryl and a strong boy. That's a strong boy.
Right I've got all the cuts done now. Oh messy. Oh to be a brickie.
Right oh the sun's gone in there so I can't drive. Donkey work. Donkey work.
So there's a lot of prep that goes into work like this.
Like so. But that's all done now. All the difficult stuff.
So you say. Now I've got a bit of a problem here with the bondi. It's not going to work correctly
when I'm toothing them out. Basically I'm going to take all these down and just fix some wall
starter to these bricks. All right better. All righty then so that's our wall starter in place.
Oh good news as well. I changed that brick. So we're just setting our pin up there and now on
this side you can see the way I've set that up. And what we're just going to do is place the top
of this. Sorry the bottom of this gauge clamp. Right and we're going to place it on the top
of that brick because that's where our line is stringing from see. Right we've set that up now.
We're going to have to work from this side first towards there and we'll not be able to place our
last brick in. We'll just have to move that gauge up and then put our last brick in.
Here's how we're getting on. Sorry the battery went dead so I had to charge it.
But I brought it with me. We're about a third of the way up. Everything's going all right but
these beds are a little bit big. Because don't forget these are 73mm brick and these are 75mm.
So there's going to be a bigger bed but hopefully it'll blend in. We've got our ties in the back
there but we just have to bend them up because we're keeping the door in. Till tomorrow we'll
take it out.
So we've been up there Casey. Oh yeah. We're just done with taking the door out on the inside.
Casey's asked me to come and take a video of this parking. Failed. Let's go and wet the
bricks a little bit because they are really dry then. And wet the board, the water board.
So Casey's blocking up inside so anything could happen. Oh yes. There we go. That's that
grip solid now that. How you doing? Have a look. Oh look at that. Well done dad.
Are you checking they're looking good? Let's have a look.
Oh melting. Nice and plumb. What do we reckon? I don't see any any spaces. Hang on.
Yeah very good. Very good that. You need to put a couple of or cut some
block for the top there while they're on the thermal. It's bomb proof that. Bomb proof.
Casey's masterpiece. You can see that I've had to put halves in. There's
no getting around it really unless you change the whole bond of the house.
