Hey guys, this play here really caught my attention.
This is Jonathan Kaminga, look at his defender.
He's giving him like 10 feet of space and daring him to shoot.
Kaminga didn't bite on it though.
He already made up his mind that he was going to the rim and...
You guys, let's take a look at that again.
Two dribbles left, a spin at the charity stripe and he's already at the basket.
Hmm, with that play, do you know who else it reminds me of?
Yeah, it's true guys, it's true.
The Golden State Warriors are creating a monster in Jonathan Kaminga
and that's got to be scary for the league.
I'm going to break it down here today just for you guys.
First, let's take a look at Kaminga's offensive package.
Kaminga's youth and athleticism gives Kerr and the Warriors something they've never had before
and that's a freight train capable of exploding towards the rim.
Guys, did y'all see that?
We gotta take another quick look.
So Kaminga is practically at the logo here,
then in exactly three dribbles, he finds himself at the rim.
This dude is a wild beast waiting to explode every game
and I'm sure that more and more Giannis comparisons are going to start showing up
as Kaminga gets more and more minutes to showcase what he's capable of.
Here's another example.
Here's Kaminga guarding.
After he sees the missed shot,
he's already running to prepare for an easy transition bucket.
Really guys, it's scary to think that this guy's only going to get better
and better as the season rolls along.
I mean, in that game against Charlotte,
Kaminga had nine points and five rebounds in only 10 minutes of play.
Not bad.
He didn't shoot any threes
and the game plan was clearly for him to play to his strengths,
which is attacking the basket.
Let's take a look at one more offensive play here.
This is Kaminga again at the logo.
Curry is about to set a screen for him.
Lonzo Ball sticks to Curry just a bit too much on the switch
and that was enough for Kaminga to see a tiny bit of daylight to the rim.
Another day, another basket, and hey, another dollar.
Next off here, let's switch it up to the other end of the court
and see how much of a monster Kaminga is on defense.
Here's Kaminga right here.
He's guarding Miles Bridges, the leading scorer for the Charlotte Hornets.
Bridges thinks that because a rookie is guarding him,
that it'd be an easy bucket.
However...
Let's break that one down really quick.
Kaminga slides his feet well and gets his body in good guarding position.
Using his strength, Kaminga prevents Bridges from out-muscling him
and then slaps the ball free.
Guys, this kid is only 19 years old currently.
Here's what Draymond Green had to say of Kaminga's defensive abilities.
I have no doubt in my mind that Kaminga can check just about anybody.
He has the size, has the strength, has the quickness and length.
Everything you want in a defender, he kind of has.
He's going to be a hell of a defender as he figures out angles
and figures out what guys like to get to.
All those different things.
He'll continue to get better and better.
I love that he's taking on those challenges.
You'll see some guys shy away in moments like that.
He's not shying away from those challenges at all.
And it's beautiful to see.
Steve Kerr also chimed in and said,
We're going to keep putting him on the best players
because he's got the physicality and the speed and athleticism to do that.
He's really got a chance to be special defensively.
Also on that note, let's watch how he mirrors a young LeBron James here.
Here's Kaminga.
He's playing for the Santa Cruz Warriors in this clip.
The other team is running in transition and Kaminga is behind the play.
But that doesn't stop him.
Oh my goodness.
You guys, look at that block.
That whole sequence of events reminds me of a younger LeBron James.
Stephen Curry, the two-time MVP, recently had this to say of Kaminga.
Even though I get him sometimes,
he's blocked my shots a bunch of times from the perimeter.
He has all the physical gifts of being able to be versatile
and play at different paces defensively.
He's shown an amazing capability of being able to guard the ball
and keep it in front and challenge shots.
And then turn that into offense where he can sprint the floor and attack the rim.
He's done a lot with his minutes the last three games.
It's nice to have a guy with his size that can guard point guards
and guard all the way through probably a four, some fives,
and then make them guard him on the other hand.
What's really scary about all this is the kid's only 19 years old.
He already has a bit of Giannis and LeBron in him.
And by surrounding himself with Draymond and the Splash Brothers,
he's only going to get better and better.
Just imagine when mid-season rolls around.
Think about it.
Imagine if Kaminga at this time improves his three-point shooting,
understands the Warrior system a bit more,
starts playing towards his strength,
and improves as a defender.
That's going to make the Warriors really intimidating.
And the insane thing about all this is James Wiseman is coming back soon too.
Steve Kerr is going to be able to have a lot of fun
when he can insert two young athletic beasts into the rotation.
I mean, currently the Warriors are already the best team in the league.
But in about two weeks, the Warriors are going to be a lot better with Wiseman back.
And then when Klay comes back near the end of December,
how is anybody going to stop this Warriors team?
The Warriors recently lost against the Hornets.
And although I'd rather get the win,
there was a lot of good stuff I saw from this game.
The Warriors for the game pretty much outplayed the Hornets,
but just couldn't make their open shots.
I mean, they won the boards 49 to 39.
They had 31 assists to the Hornets' 23.
But unfortunately, it's still a make-or-miss league.
Damian Lee, who usually shoots the lights out,
missed all four of his three-point shots.
Belitza and Otto Porter also missed all four of their outside shots.
Steph Curry had an off-night shooting 3 for 13 from downtown.
And so did Poole, as he shot 2 for 8 from distance.
Still though, despite shooting only 23% from downtown as a team,
the game went the distance,
and the Warriors only lost by four against a Hornets team that's on the rise.
Anyway guys, let's switch gears here really quick.
Did y'all see that nasty 3 Steph did against the Bulls recently?
If not, don't fret it.
I got it for you right here.
The ball is in the air,
and Steph is already backpedaling and pointing to a fan.
Guys, Steph really is cold-blooded.
Steve Kerr recently said about the Warriors superstar,
He finds a way to motivate himself, and it's not fake.
It's real.
He wants to win a championship.
He wants to beat the best teams.
He wants to let other players in the league know that he's still got it.
He's going to take on the challenge,
whether it's LeBron James, or one of the best players in the league,
or a young guy like Trey, who is up and coming,
and maybe following in Steph's footsteps.
All of that stuff factors in,
and is one of the reasons he is as great as he is.
It goes so far beyond the skill.
It's the competitive desire,
On another note here, guys,
aside from Steph and Kaminga,
did y'all know that another beast is starting to slowly awaken?
If y'all don't know what I mean, then click right here.
I'm talking about Andrew Wiggins.
Maple Jordan.
Did y'all see the way he's playing right now?
That ferocious aggressiveness.
The relentless attacks to the basket.
The man is playing like he's on a mission,
and it is insane, you guys.
I could talk about it all day,
but I don't want to spoil it for you.
So go ahead, click the video right here,
watch it, and like always,
I'll see you on the other side.
