Hey guys, welcome back to my channel. I'm so excited to share this new video with you guys today.
If you caught my thrift store video last week, I gave you a sneak peek of this coffee table that
we found for just $35. So I have had my eye out for a coffee table exactly like this and I'll
show you the inspiration here. This color and style of this kitchen island was exactly what
I was looking for. So I was excited to find something with a very similar shape for just $35.
And I know this is a kitchen island, but you can see the price here on this was $3,200.
So I found these two colors at Ace Hardware and I thought mixing the two could give me a similar
bluish gray color. And I mix them just by adding a little bit of blue at a time until I felt like
I had the correct color. One thing about this table that I loved was the fact you could see
some wood grain through the paint. So after my first brush of paint on the coffee table,
I realized I needed a lot less paint on my brush to try and get that same effect.
I did a really thin first coat of paint and in some places I didn't even do a second coat.
There is another step I add in at the end, but I'll explain that when I get to that point.
Voices in the night, time is running out of sight.
It's passing by, tries to carry all the whispers that it finds.
The walls are listening when we talk, making echoes as we walk.
There's no one left but you and me. It's like a made up place that only we can see.
Hold my hand and hear the words I say. Close your eyes and let us fade away.
Build a secret place for you and me. Let our minds be caught up in a dream.
Okay, so once it was all dry, I felt it was lighter than I was hoping.
So I went over the entire thing with this antiquing glaze and I felt like it changed
it to the perfect color. It made it look really distressed
and it made it look like it was the original color of this coffee table.
Standing underneath the light, looking to each other's eyes.
There's no one left but you and me. It's like a made up place that only we can see.
After I was done glazing it, I went back over it with a damp washcloth and wiped it down.
And I feel like this eliminated any streaks and made this coffee table look really similar to
my design inspiration. The next thing I did was swap
out the knobs and then sanded down the top of the coffee table.
My original idea was to stain the top dark just like the picture, but once I got it down
to its original light wood color, I loved it. So I decided to just leave it as is.
Okay, well that's everything for this video. Thank you guys so much for watching.
