This video has been a long time coming and I am so thankful for the patience that you all have had.
It has taken me about six months to finish this living room makeover and now it's finished and
I am really excited to be sharing this whole space with you. I really tried to bring a cottage
vintage modern feel to this living room and I feel like I accomplished that and I'm very happy
with everything. I also wanted to share that this video is in collaboration with Olivia
and her channel will be linked in my description and she has a beautiful beautiful channel
and she's a lovely person as well. She does DIYs, decorates with me and all kinds of beautiful
inspiration that you can draw from her channel and I really like to bring you all channels that
I feel you can draw inspiration from as I do. So make sure you check her channel out,
subscribe to her channel and let her know that I sent you her way and I know you won't be
disappointed in her content, her sweet personality and her beautiful home. Now it's time to move on
to the living room makeover and I am really really so happy to be finished in this space.
Every space I make over and I redo starts off looking completely different and this room is
no exception and I used to decorate really heavy-handed and very dark and very warm colors
which I really loved for a very long time and I still love the warm look but this go-around I am
adding some beautiful white walls behind that warm decor. I got told that my style is kind of a style
of its own and it is a mix of vintage modern with a touch of cottage in it as well and I'm really
hoping that when I'm finished with our home I have picked out timeless items and timeless accent
walls that are just going to be lovely for many years to come and I feel like with every new space
and every new makeover I have grown and my true style is evolving so to speak and I am very happy
with the makeover. There are a couple things I'm going to change and I will point that out during
this video so let's get on with the makeover and I'm so excited to share you all the fun details
that are in this space. Starting with the ceiling we added the shiplap about five years ago to our
home and we stained it and then when I started wanting more of a cottage look to my home we had
the ceiling painted by my brother-in-law so the ceiling is very cottagey and very eye-catching
when you walk in with the shiplap and it painted and I used a satin finish on that and I used the
color swiss coffee which is the color for my ceilings throughout our home. I bought a vintage
chandelier about three years ago and I knew that I wanted to add it to this living room space and
we added the vintage chandelier which is very dramatic when you walk in. It is about two and a
half feet long so it's rather large and very very eye-catching and just its own identity so to speak.
It is very very much a centerpiece and a showstopper when you walk in the living room.
When you walk into our living room it steps down from the entryway slash hallway and I knew I
wanted to center the couch or one of our couches right when you walk in so you can walk around
either side of the couch when walking into our living room which makes it very very handy and
I love the whole centered look. I love the blue and white blanket that I have placed behind which
brings out a lot of the blue into the living room and when you walk in your eye catches the blue and
then your eye will go and catch the other blue throughout the cottage living room. On this couch
I placed just simple pillows and then one touch of blue and white ticking stripe and I love how
each couch has a hint of the blue without being over bored or overdone and I really really love
that simple touch to the couch. Right in front of the couch I thrifted this beautiful beautiful
coffee table and it is vintage and I paid $189 for it and it is so lovely. I noticed it about a
year ago and I just watched it and I just thought about it and adding in my huge seven foot
anthropology mirror and some glass shelves which I will show in just a little bit. I felt like the
glass table would be um very New York apartment style I guess which I absolutely love that look
and I also knew it would bring in the anthropology mirror that I have and the glass shelving that I
have as well and I like how it ties in with those elements and I love love the rattan at the bottom
I think it's just gorgeous and the glass has like a smoky effect to it it's just beautiful. Moving to
the left I have a stack of wicker baskets that I thrifted at a very inexpensive price and I love
the simple collage of them just resting on top of each other and it's really eye-catching very
dramatic but yet very simple as well and that's what I was going for and that's probably one of
my most favorite features in this room is the wicker baskets. Above it I thrifted this tobacco
basket I believe it is and my uncle said it is from the 1800s and I thrifted it for I believe
seven dollars and it's beautiful above the baskets and I think it's a lovely addition. To the right
of the baskets is the other couch which is flush against the wall and on that couch I had a vintage
french mattress topper that is blue and tan taking stripe and it has little buttons in it and it is
absolutely gorgeous and I thrifted it for ten dollars and as soon as I saw the mattress I knew
that would be gorgeous layered on the white couch for my future living room makeover and it is
absolutely gorgeous and I have three pillows just very simply resting in the corner of the couch.
I love how the smokey just came in here to inspect. I love the blue touches on both couches
and I love how it's not over dramatic but yet it's very eye-catching and pulls all the blue
details together in my living room. Hi what are you doing? Above the couch I have vintage glass shelves
and the brackets are vintage as well and they're gold and they're a hammered look to them and
they're about two feet long and they are just beautiful and I paid seven dollars for the pair
so $3.50 each shelf and I have hoarded those shelves behind my closet for two years just
praying that they didn't get broke in the waiting process and I'm so thankful they didn't get broke
and they are beautiful against the wall and the beautiful picture molding on our wall that we
added. I also added a simple gold vintage mirror right above the couch centered with the sconces
and the couch so it's just very simple and that wall is very hard to decorate because when you
walk into our living room that wall is very flat so it is not an eye-catching wall for decor so
you I really have to think when I decorate that part of the wall. I added a beautiful flora lamp
but I love how the flora lamp is very cozy at night and very just it has a subtle lived-in look
when you have the flora lamp kind of coming over the corner of the couch. Right by the couch is
my baker's rack that I thrifted in Southern California and I paid I think I paid like $140
for it $150 for it and on it is all of my most beautiful vintage thrifted finds. I have a real
plant and a diffuser some vintage mirrors that are layered very simply old books and some twine.
I have a record player at the bottom that we actually listen to and I feel like that's very
New York apartment as well and I'm telling you my style is so mixed it's I don't even know what to
call my style but I love the record player at the bottom and it's very handy for the girls to
turn their records on and listen to their music. You can't go out. Smokey's circling me right now.
I feel like the baker's rack even though it's on the flat wall when you walk in
it is very much a drawing out piece on that wall when you walk in it's very eye-catching and it's
just lovely and I love all the decor on this baker's rack. I put the matching bookshelves
on either side of the window and I placed some books inside and some vintage clocks and
above it I thrifted these beautiful swan baskets. I thrifted the big basket for three dollars and I
have been saving it for two years till I can decorate and then my sister thrifted me the
little goose for Christmas and they are just a lovely pair on top of the bookshelf. Right in front
of the window I have this beautiful beautiful side table I thrifted for forty dollars and I did
not have to do one thing to it. It is absolutely lovely and it is perfect for this space. It fills
in this little library nooky space that I like to call it very nicely and behind I have my linen
curtains and my beautiful wicker blinds that I just I love them you guys they are so beautiful
and so easy to keep clean. On the little side table I have a fake plant which I'm going to
switch out for a real one but I just haven't made it to Lowe's to purchase that but this fake one
is beautiful and I have a beautiful shell that I thrifted for seven dollars which I love love it's
one of my favorites. I have a beautiful little Studio McGee lamp that actually dims and I have a
match cloche. I have some natural looking color grounds for the girls to play and have an easy
access to. I also have two paperweights that I literally adore that I thrifted for under two
dollars for both items and they are gorgeous. That's actually one of my favorite items in this
whole living room as well is the two paperweights. Tucked nicely in each corner is two vintage chairs
that I thrifted and they are an olive green and a rattan on the sides and I have some pillows just
placed nicely with some throw blankets and they are beautiful. I thrifted those off Facebook
Marketplace and those were $4.50 for the pair and they're in absolutely perfect condition. The one
thing I love about these chairs or one of the things I love is the turned legs, the color of the
stain and I love how I don't have to worry about the cushions getting dirty because they are a
crushed velvet and they are just lovely and they're very sturdy. Moving to the opposite wall I have
the other bookshelf and it is filled with books and some of my most favorite finds as well and
it's all thrifted. I have some matching wicker baskets and a straw hat and these items are
entirely thrifted and I paid $60 for the pair of bookshelves and they're solid wood and I painted
those in the same color as my walls which is White Dove by Sherwin-Williams and it's the perfect color
for my living room with the lighting that I have in here. As you can see behind me I have a broom
tucked very neatly in the corner of the living room which I felt gives off a natural look like
that's where the broom would rest until you need to sweep the floor and to be honest we actually
use this broom and I thrifted it for $1. We have the seven foot anthropology mirror behind me and
it is very very eye-catching. It pulls out a lot of detail in the living room. I purchased the mirror
30% off about three years ago maybe four years ago and it's just been resting waiting to be
decorated with as well so all of my patience in waiting to decorating is finally paying off
and I love how the mirror is resting on the wood floor and against the picture molding and the
beautiful white creamy walls. It is so stunning I think. In front of the mirror I have a plant from
Ikea that I thought I was going to kill but so far it's thriving and doing really well and then I
have an old rice basket and it is very very old and it is very beautiful and I'm just using that
for a magazine rack if anyone wants to look at magazines while they're sitting in the living room
they can just grab a magazine and sit back and relax. Last but not least I bought a console table
from Studio McGee and I paid $300 for it and it is the perfect wood color. It matches the blinds
in my living room. It matches the little side table I thrifted. It matches the chairs I thrifted
and it matches the wood floor so everything really flows nicely in here. I am looking for a vintage
console but until I can find one I will just use this one. I love it. I think it's beautiful.
I love the clean lines on it and I love how I have the blue and white ticking striped cubes
tucked neatly underneath and Violet absolutely loves that detail. When I bought the cubes to try
them out she was like oh mom you have to keep these. I love how it's two extra seats for when
company comes over. They can pull them out very easily and sit down. You can move them to any part
of the living room. You know when you're wanting to talk to someone that's sitting on the couch but
you're way over here these cubes are the perfect little item to just bring over to the couch and
sit right there and talk to your friend. I love love the cubes and the blue and white fabric pull
out all the blues in my pictures and the touches of blue on my couches as well. On top of the console
is an anthropology vase that I've had for about a year and my beautiful very simple gallery wall
that pretty much I had the frames or the frames are thrifted and then I have some artwork from
different accounts from Instagram. One of them is Anna Ellen art which is one of my favorite places
to purchase art from. I love how it has the blue in the pictures which helps bring out the blues
in my living room. Inside a cloche I have some old paintbrushes that I've just gathered together
and put inside and it's super simple. In another cloche I have some old vintage scissors that I
think are really gorgeous. I have a beautiful little table lamp that I thrifted for seven dollars
and then I have a couple frogs that are just lovely and it's just really simple on top of
console table but it's very very very beautiful. I have some baskets sitting to the right and I
love the simple detail that baskets can bring to a home. I have another small collage over by the
mirror and this picture is very moody and beautiful and has lots of blues and grays in it
and it is probably one of my most favorite pictures and the picture below is a thrifted
frame for a dollar and then another piece of artwork that I have bought from an account off Instagram.
This is my living room makeover. I hope you have enjoyed it. I hope I have explained it
well and brought out the detail as best as I could and I want to remind you guys to go in
my description and check out Olivia's channel and tell her I sent you her way. Comment below and let
me know what your favorite space or item is. One of my favorite parts is my little library. I can
get behind the chairs and grab a book and it just makes me feel very Pride and Prejudice and very
sense and sensibility. I want to thank you guys so much for watching and as always I will see you
guys on the next video.
