[Must-see for beginners] Introducing recommended functions for digital painting! [CLIP STUDIO PAINT].
Hello everyone this is Otegama
This time I would like to introduce you to some useful features I use when drawing illustrations in Clip Studio
I'll show you in real time while making a demonstration
This time it's a collaboration video with Clip Studio I 've
been using Clip Studio Paint for about 5 or 6 years
It's an essential app for me when drawing illustrations digitally
I want to try drawing illustrations digitally but what can I do with it
I'm still not fully proficient in using Clip
Studio but there are many features I'd like to
recommend to you If you're interested please take a
look all the way to the end Let's start
First I'll make a draft but before that I'll
introduce the pen I usually use and its settings
The ones I often use are the Real G Pen freehand drawing and sketching pen
I mainly use the Real G Pen with the default settings without making many adjustments
Freehand drawing and sketching pens can be downloaded for free from Clip Studio Assets
Clip Studio Assets is
It's a website where you can distribute materials that can be used in the Clip Studio Series
I've managed to sketch the outline of the
face so next I'll draw the outline of the hair
I always use a vector layer for my hair
This is where you create a new raster layer but for
a vector layer you use the one on the right side
What happens if you use this
At first glance it looks the same as a regular line
This is an amazing layer that allows you to freely move the lines later on
What I find most convenient is
There's an eraser tool for vector layers
when you really notice the parts that are sticking out a lot
With this you can easily
erase it with one touch This is really
convenient especially when drawing
hair Let's actually draw it now
You're already overstepping here Select this
area the vector erase
process up to this point
This makes it really efficient doesn't it
I'm going to apply the primer since the painting is done
The tool I want to introduce here is one that paints without leaving gaps
What's amazing about this is
This is how the area gets automatically filled when enclosed like this
This is really useful for applying the base coat
There is also an eraser version of the tool that can erase
without leaving gaps so it's a good idea to download this as well
I'll remove the parts that have gone beyond the edges
I paint the skin tone
This is a tool called "nemuri-urii" that I would
like to recommend You can paint the color of the rope
It's a tool that comes by default but traditionally
you would use a regular lasso tool like this to wash
I think that's how it was
painted using this bucket
tool to spray it on like that but skip all of this
At first when I drew the circle it was easy to paint in
This is really good for adding highlights to my hair like this
and it's so convenient
This is a recommended tool that really saves
time like when you add shadows in this way
Once the drawing is complete I adjust the overall balance with the distortion tool This is
something I've been wanting
to implement in Clip Studio for five years
I've always thought this feature would be
useful and now that it's finally implemented
I really find it handy
It's common to realize
after coloring that the sketch here is off
It's a magical tool that can fix
it in seconds Just make these small
adjustments The appearance of the drawing will change completely
You know I think the distortion
tool in Clip Studio is
really accurate and the line art doesn't get messed up
There's a feature that makes it easy to create a border
select the "border effect" in the layer properties
when you choose the "border" option
It is automatically trimmed this way I use it quite a bit when there
are trendy illustrations The character 's
silhouette stands out clearly
It becomes a clear and easy-to-see image There'
s a big difference in appearance between having
this and not having it When you do it like this
it ends up getting completely lost doesn't it
Just by adding a mouth it somehow
instantly makes the drawing look more
like a product I think This is probably
one of the functions I use most often
I think this is the easiest technique to
make a picture stand out so why don't you give it a try
Oh with a blur effect you can create a sense of depth and realism in the picture
just by applying the blur effectively
but the parts that are out of focus
It guides the viewer's eye naturally
to the parts you want to see in the
picture resulting in a finish that looks
like it was taken with a DSLR camera
Paintings also come out with expressions In this case
I hope the focus is on
this eye and finger heart
with a lasso tool
like this
You can choose the strength of the blur
Just by doing this
You can naturally sense
that the focus is on this
This blur is really worth using
Just a little processing
makes the picture look nice
The shoulder on the other side of this hand also
Is the focus probably not
right In a front shot you
can make it so the focus is
only on this important part
There's a gradient map feature
which is really
easy to use and can
give that effect so I often use
it like a smartphone camera filter
I'll try it again in the same way
there is a tab called
"New Color Correction Layer"
next to this layer tab
and in this the gradient map
We choose this option
then this appears
and we can select a gradient set
This time I'll try applying the "Aoi"
gradient set with the "Sunset Purple" filter
of course you can adjust the intensity
and you can also freely crop it like this
This gradient map can be used
as the original default one
or you can search for gradient
maps in Clip Studio Assets
It's better to download the ones you like because there
are so many available
I think the sparkling effects and tones
and the fabric textures are quite nice
I download a lot
of race-related
and hand-drawn material from
Clip Studio Assets and then put
them on the picture That's all
The amount of information
in the picture increases
and it becomes nice looking For example things
like this lace also become
brush strokes and you can
make these delicate decorations just by doing haa
You can also freely change the size
like this for example
the illustration
I drew this time just by adding this
decoration in the
back and coloring it
I can draw the background in just a moment
Plus the quality is high
It's getting close to being finished
By the way what have I been
operating with my left hand all along
Some people might be curious but this
is a shortcut key that's been set up
Every time I write with a pen I say "
Oops I made a mistake
" and then erase it
Here if you change the
brush size here and switch
the pen like this it takes a really long time
I have set up shortcut keys
on this left-handed keyboard so
that it switches when pressed
with my left hand Clip Studio is
You can set shortcut keys quite freely
Pen and eraser of course This lasso
painting technique that has been introduced
so far And then left-right inversion
Selected area
Things like that
The functions I often use
are all set up
Just mastering this should
probably cut my work time in half
Yes it's done
The overall view looks like this
This is how it looks like
I always draw digital illustrations
I would be happy if the features
introduced this time are helpful to you
Clip Studio has a free trial so if
you're interested I think it's a good
idea to try it for free I was really
happy when the iPad version was released
It seems there is also a mobile version now
Thank you for watching until the end
See you again in the next video
Bye-bye
