Do you ever feel that you're not able to create
healthy eating habits that you can use in your daily life
without it feeling challenging or laborious,
especially challenging to maintain?
Maybe you're jumping from a plan to a plan
or trend to trend, or you have an idea
of what you need to eat to be healthy,
but you struggle to follow through on being consistent
and eating healthfully in that way every single day, 365.
And you may be feeling a little stressed
with making food choices,
or you might be finding it challenging to nourish yourself
while also having a nice balance
to enjoy yourself and enjoy food.
So if any of this sounds like what you're experiencing
right now, keep watching because I'm gonna share
three things that you need to do
to create healthy eating habits.
When you have all of these three things working together
in a nice synergistic way,
eating healthfully can become so much easier,
more aligned with you,
and also more enjoyable for your life.
So give me a yes below if improving your eating habits
is something that you wanna do,
and it's something that you're working on right now
or that you wanna work on in the future.
For those that are meeting me for the first time,
hi, I'm Mikkel Kuinga.
I'm a registered dietitian, founder of Nutrition Stripped,
and creator of The Method Membership.
And I'm really happy to have you here.
I'm here to help you eat more mindfully,
plant-based whole foods on a daily basis,
and make it easy, mindful, and enjoyable.
And I'm gonna share with you today three things
that make up my philosophy on nutrition
that I focus on with my members,
that I focus on with my clients and myself
that help create healthy eating habits
that really fit into their unique daily lives.
So the first thing is, of course, knowing what to eat
to nourish your physical body
so that it can function optimally and at its best.
And I focus on doing that through eating an abundance
of plant-based foods or foods based in plants.
Now, it's no secret that plant-based foods
and whole foods provide us with so many vitamins,
minerals, antioxidants, and nutrients
that support our over well-being.
And all of these contribute to how you feel
on a daily basis, how you show up,
by keeping you nice and satiated or full,
keeps your focus sharp, your energy stabilized,
your hormones balanced, supporting your digestion,
and the list goes on.
They also contribute to your long-term health
with so many studies showing
that these powerful plant-based whole foods
can improve heart health, can reduce inflammation,
can stabilize blood sugar, can prevent diabetes,
maintain healthy blood pressure,
support our digestive system and our gut microbiome,
cardiovascular health, and support our immune system.
And the list goes on.
So if you wanna take a deeper look
into the specific foods that you should be eating
to ensure that you're getting the right mix
of macronutrients and micronutrients in your daily diet,
then download my free guide
for creating healthy eating habits
where I dive into these recommendations
and I also, of course, wanna give you something tangible.
I give you some simple meal ideas too.
Now, to me, eating an abundance of plant-based foods
does not mean that you can't enjoy all foods.
You can absolutely focus on eating plenty
of plant-based foods and still have plenty of room
to enjoy other foods that you like to
And we do this through the second pillar
of my nutrition philosophy,
which is really honing in on how to eat.
So we covered what to eat and how to eat.
Most people only focus on what to eat,
but they never take a step further
and explore how they're eating.
And the way that we do that
is through mindful eating strategies.
Now, mindful eating is all about creating balance
and having the freedom to enjoy all foods,
but doing so in a mindful way
that you're really treating your body well.
So through this practice, we bring more awareness,
we bring more positivity to your experience
around food, around mealtimes.
And the key here is using your body signals
to make the best choices based around
what you wanna eat and what you need.
So for example, a lot of my Method members
joined my membership because they were feeling
like they were struggling a lot
with the things like feeling certain foods were bad
or good or eating when they were bored
or feeling out of control around certain foods
or situations or something similar to that degree.
But once they start using these mindful eating practices,
they notice their body's natural hunger cues,
their satiety cues, their behaviors,
their thoughts around food.
And when they have these really powerful insights,
it helps them create healthier eating habits for life
by making those small changes that better align
with what they want to feel and when they're eating it.
So it's using this whole practice
that you can become more balanced
and eat those nutrient-dense plant-based foods
all the time that I just shared
that are so important to our health.
And at the same time, also fully enjoy the dessert
that's really rich that you enjoy,
that you get a lot of pleasure and enjoyment after.
Is that something that you'd like to experience?
I hope so, because it makes it so much easier
to create healthy eating habits that are long-lasting
and it helps you stick to those habits
because you're not restricting yourself
and you're not creating that lack mentality.
Instead, you're learning how to navigate situations
that we all experience in our daily lives
and you also learn to listen to what your body truly wants,
what your body truly needs,
and honoring that so you feel aligned.
So the third piece of my philosophy
for creating healthy eating habits with ease
is to have the skills that you need
to put all of this into practice into your daily life.
And the way that I like to do it and that you can do it
is investing some of your time
and a little bit of your energy
into learning some really, really simple cooking techniques
and also some skills that help make it more efficient
and also more enjoyable in the kitchen.
So have you ever felt like cooking is really overwhelming
or too time-consuming or intimidating?
I know that it can feel that way in the beginning,
but by learning just a few key skillsets in the kitchen,
you will not only save so much time,
but you will also enjoy learning about it
a little bit more and you'll get some pleasure from it.
And I can say from both personal and professional experience
and witnessing all of my Method members
that when you start to enjoy this process of cooking,
you're going to be so much more likely
to stick with those healthy eating habits
and you can make healthy food really fun
and something exciting to eat.
Now, if you can focus on these three things,
one, eating an abundance of plant-based whole foods,
two, practicing mindful eating,
and three, learning a few cooking skills,
you can create healthy eating habits
in a really easy and enjoyable way, I promise,
all without needing to eliminate any food groups
from your diet or from what you eat on a daily basis
or without following the trends or the fads or the diets.
