Hi folks and welcome to the Truck King YouTube channel. Behind me right there is the Chrysler
Pacifica Pinnacle plug-in hybrid and behind it is my family playing at our local park. Yes I have
three young ones all of them are in car seats so a minivan is basically a must and we are minivan
owners so we're going to put this thing to the test today. This is a little different than a
normal review. I'm going to take my family and we're going to go have a fun day in this Chrysler
Pacifica. I'll take you along with us and we'll show you all the features along the way. You're
a scary dino. I am taking a photo. I'm making a video actually. What are you doing? Swinging.
Let's start in the back of the Pacifica before we take off and I'll just show you the setup.
So we have a newborn Owen. He rides in the bucket so I seat belt install the bucket here.
That's our rear facing seat for two-year-old Olivia and then our forward facing is in the
back for three-year-old Otis and then you have a seat over here in the corner. Sometimes mama
rides back there or sometimes she rides up front with me. Now what I want to show you of course
there's a latch position here. There's latch in this seat as well in the rear. It's interesting
there's three seats for adults but only two latch positions and only two top tethers
and some seats will install side by side and some won't. Ours probably wouldn't because we have such
big seats and they're not supposed to touch each other so you definitely have to be aware of that
if you happen to need both of those positions in the rear. Now there is plenty of space in here for
sure. One feature I'll show you that I really like over here on the pillar down around the
corner there's a button and when you press this that front seat moves all the way forward
and the idea here is then you can crawl through into the back but I actually like it because when
I'm installing this bucket seat it's nice to have all this room to work with and I got to clear the
toys off of there first but yeah it's nice to have all this room to work with and then once you're
installed there in the back you can just hit that and climb right back in. Hey little girl how you
doing? You coming to see the van? Camelback great way to haul water for the babies. Let us have a
drink bud. Haul water for the babies. Where should we go after the park? The other park. The other park okay.
Ice cream town. Ice cream town come on. Where should we go Olivia? The ice cream town. You sure? To Nana's house.
Nana would like that. To ice cream town. I love you. I love you. Okay babies time to shoot some
drive-bys. Mommy's going behind the wheel. This is truly a family outfit. I'll give you a thumbs up
and yeah I mean you guys see me working with dad all the time and it's awesome that I get to work
with my dad and then sometimes when I shoot the reviews alone well I'm pretty much always
enlisting my wife Heather and the kids. We load them up and Heather drives for me and we do the
drive-bys so everything you see on this channel is an Elmer family affair. Otis do you want a surprise?
The yellow one? What's wrong with the brown table? It's nicely in the shade.
But I told them yellow umbrella's closed. Yeah we like the one with the shade. So this beast right here is our
Wonderfold wagon and as the name suggests it folds up although even fold it up it's pretty dang big.
There we go and you'll see in the back here there's a really deep well in the Pacifica because
these seats normally fall in there. That's what we use for Mr. Wonderfold and I just take it
and flip it right in there so we can fit this monster wagon which means that just about any
stroller is going to fit in here as well. Even a three-place stroller you're going to be good to
go and then of course if you didn't need it you could flip the 60 down or the 40 and have a little
bit more storage back. So we just finished lunch and while mama's busy up there feeding Owen
and these guys are back here playing and I'm able to hook up my phone using the Miracast. So this is
a game on my phone Dino Park and now Otis because it's a touchscreen is able to play Dino Park
in the Pacifica. How cool is that? Which dino are you? An Ankylosaurus. Okay babies listen daddy's
gonna do a stand up. Okay ready? Okay so here we are driving in the Pacifica Hybrid. Got all the
babies in the back. I think the little one's sleeping. Yeah he was a little upset earlier
but now we got him to sleep. So I think Heather and I both agree that this Fam Cam is the coolest
thing about this Pacifica. The best thing. Yeah it's it's just so nice to be able to see your kids
especially because we're still rear facing in the second row and it's convenient it looks good
and we were actually in here at night too and the night vision works really well so in the pitch
black sometimes I'm trying to catch a you know street light. Struggling to see them. Yeah and
now you don't have to do that either so definitely big fans of the Fam Cam. So as you guys saw Heather
helps me out on these drive-bys and I mentioned this off the top we own a 2015 Honda Odyssey.
That's our daily driver. Heather drives it all the time. So of course my question for her is
what differences do you really feel between this van and our Odyssey? I find this one a little bit
smoother. It is newer so I don't know if that contributes. Well the electric powertrain for
sure. For sure. You get that smooth acceleration more so than the V6. Speaking of the electric
the noise I'm not a fan. Every time you stop for me every time you stop you're trying you're looking
around for emergency vehicles. It sounds too similar to a siren in the distance to me. It does
yeah the electric motor as it winds down has this high-pitched whine. It sounds a bit like a fire truck.
Not a fan. But other than that I like it. It's a smooth ride. It's comfortable. Again we've
talked about a huge fan of the Fam Cam being able to see everybody. Yeah it really is a big deal with
with such young kids especially because they're all in car seats still. It's so nice. If they're
asking for something or they're like I like that I can see if he drops something I can tell him
where it is. True. So there's lots of different things that you could use it for. We mentioned
seeing it at night. The night mode is cool. It's really good on it. It was better than I expected
and you are I'm always constantly looking around to see trying to even if they're just awake or
asleep trying to see that is really hard in the dark at night so I like that. So like every other
plug-in hybrid this Pacifica has to have a noise when it's moving at low speed in EV mode. So I'll
put her in drive. You can hear it here. This one is slightly quieter than some of the other ones
I've experienced but I think they almost buy this noise generator from the same supplier because
they all sound the same either like angels descending from heaven or like a weird spaceship.
It is started. The car's on. Oh you know why you don't hear the engine? Because it's a plug-in
hybrid. It's electric so the electric engine is very quiet. Cool right? So it's our last day with
this Pacifica hybrid and we have to return it. I did Vy. I'm just talking to the camera. I've got
Olivia there. I've got Otis in the back. It's just the three of us today and we're going on an
adventure to return the Pacifica and pick up our personal minivan. And then Otis wants
to go to Ice Cream Town. So we'll see about Ice Cream Town. We're almost at our destination now
and I gotta tell you living with this van for a week I think my family right now is actually a
really good plug-in hybrid family. So we've done 246 kilometers in total throughout the week
and this drive here just to pick it up and drop it off is almost 100 kilometers.
And over that 246 total kilometers 171 of them were all electric and that's because I work from
home. My wife is a stay-at-home mom so the only places we really go throughout the week are the
grocery store, the park. You guys already saw that we go to the park all the time.
You know other places for the kids, visiting friends maybe, maybe visiting my parents you know
Nana and Grandpa. And because we don't go far on a regular basis we end up using mostly just
electric power. I got in the habit the first day of the second you park in the garage you plug in
your charger. If I owned this thing I would install the level 2 charger in my house. It's definitely
worth it because it charges up in just over two hours. That means you can get home, charge it up,
eat lunch, go back out and boom you are actually still using all electric. But even with the 120
basically it was an overnight charge and then I didn't find myself going further than 50 kilometers
most days. So plug-in hybrid it's still kind of a unique proposition. You have to be the right person
who drives the right amount in town. But if you are it could be an excellent powertrain for you.
It could save you a serious amount of money and I think what was really cool is that Chrysler
paired it with a minivan first you know. Now they have the Wrangler PHEV but the Pacifica got it first
and why not offer families the convenience of a van with the efficiency of the plug-in hybrid.
So you know what this vehicle for me is really a winner. All right we're back here. Okay guys
can you hop out of that van and get in our van? No don't close it yet V is still coming out.
Come on Olivia. Okay out of that van and hop in the Honda. Okay close it up now.
Good job. Oh you hit the wrong one. You got to hit the higher button. There you go. Nice job.
Okay now back into our van. And wait babies let me ask you real quick. Otis
what did you like about that van? I liked the camera. You liked the camera. Avi what did you
like about that van? What did you like? The back. The back. Yeah I like the back of that van too.
All right well now we're back in our van and it's time to head home. And I think I said it all.
Oh yeah we're going to a park first. Deal deal no problem. So yeah this is returned. We're back in
the Odyssey. The Pacifica. I love the powertrain here. I think it did everything it needs to go.
Oh my gosh he's running away wild around the parking lot. This is called bad parenting right
here. Making videos while your kids run wild. So I gotta end this one now. We like the Pacifica.
