Here's Draymond standing on the perimeter.
He walks over to the baseline to set a screen for Jordan Poole.
Because this isn't an actual game, JP3 rejects the screen, and probably talks some trash
to Draymond, and uh...
Ladies and gentlemen, this is what happens to NBA players when they trash talk Draymond
Green.
Okay, I'm kidding.
But honestly, this video that was released by TMZ made the whole incident look a whole
lot worse than the initial reports.
But you know who loves it?
Emei Udoka of the Boston Celtics, because now, all of a sudden, he's thinking to himself,
thank god the smoke is off me now.
And with that being said, let's dissect this whole situation and get to the truth of the
matter.
Alright guys, so although this whole incident looked pretty bad, uh, from the volumes podcast,
here's how Draymond downplayed what happened, and if you hear his words, it makes sense.
Very interesting one.
You know, I actually tried to hold him up.
I actually tried to hold him up.
Alright, so I'm kidding.
That obviously is from the playoff series against the Memphis Grizzlies, when Draymond
was called for the foul on Brandon Clark, but I just had to do that.
It's time to really start the video, so without further ado, let me do that quick intro again.
So, to be perfectly honest, when the reports initially came out that Draymond and Poole
got into a little altercation, I thought maybe it was like the Rondo and Chris Paul
situation where, although Rondo got him with a left hook, it wasn't really anything serious.
And uh, I really didn't want to do a video on this, but after seeing that video, I had
to clear up some stuff online because, sheesh guys, Draymond Green actually pulled out a
superman punch, and it connected.
I'm glad JP3 didn't get seriously injured from this or anything, because that really
was an actual MMA move that could have dealt some serious damage.
Questions that naturally arose for me after I digested everything were, how would this
affect the team's chemistry going forward?
Will this ruin the Warriors' chances at winning the championship this season?
Is Draymond facing a lengthy suspension?
Alright, so first off, Steph already sort of alluded to how this would affect the team
Obviously, things like this could go either way, but in my honest opinion, I don't think
this will change anything in the grand scheme of things.
I mean, Steve Kerr once got punched by Michael Jordan in the face before the 1995-96 season
started, and uh, what eventually happened there?
The Chicago Bulls went on to win 72 regular season games, and followed that up with not
1, not 2, but 3 championships.
So it's clear that although emotions are shaking a bit currently, the Warriors still
have a great chance of going on another championship run.
Then, to further add on to this, here's what Jay Williams had to say about that Jordan
Kerr incident.
So this stuff happens every single day sometimes for some teams.
It happens multiple times throughout the course of the season.
Guys get in fights, guys throw punches, but ultimately I think that experience can bring
a team a lot closer.
Also from Steve Kerr's mouth himself, he said
So we got into it one day, it was just a competitive practice and there was trash talking and we
got into it a little bit.
I mean, it's something that happens, frankly, probably three times a year on every team,
but when Michael Jordan is involved, it gets a little more.
The Warriors, just like Jordan back in the days, are champions, and have some of the
brightest lights shined onto them.
I mean, if something like this happened to the Sacramento Kings or the Indiana Pacers,
it probably wouldn't even get a fraction of the exposure it's currently getting.
But because it's Draymond, and because it's Golden State, it's front headline material.
Anyways, next off, one of the initial reports of this happening was a tweet by Chris Haynes,
which said that Jordan Poole's attitude has changed for the worse recently as a result
of him being on the verge of getting a big bag, and uh…
This is what Steph Curry had to say on that matter.
Yeah, whatever that specific tweet that was put out yesterday about insinuating that JP's
attitude or something has changed since he's been in this training camp or even, you know,
whatever time window they're talking about, it's absolute BS.
Next off, here's what Steve Kerr said on that same matter.
The only thing I will say is that Jordan has been fantastic throughout camp.
There was a report that I was made aware of last night, someone put out there that Jordan
had an attitude in camp, nothing could be further from the truth, he's been fantastic.
So disappointing to see misinformation out there.
So we've heard it all now.
This had nothing to do with contract extensions causing a bad attitude in the 4th year guard
out of Michigan.
In fact, Steph himself said that things seemed pretty normal until it wasn't.
Anyways, Draymond just did his apology interview, said he watched the tape like 15 times and
answered any questions that reporters had for him.
He concluded that he's going to take some time off, let things breathe, and then he'll
go from there.
Because this is so fresh right now, emotions are still high, and trust me guys, give it
another week or two, and the two of them will make up.
I mean, Draymond does this type of stuff with everyone, and it always turns out good.
Except with Harrison Barnes.
I mean, it's a little off-topic, but here's what Draymond said about that.
But Harrison Barnes, I think to this day still don't like me for KD coming here.
And the reality is, bruh, it's like, I didn't tell him to trade you.
And so for instance, this dude invite Stephanie in his wedding, Steph, Klay, everybody in
his wedding except me, bruh.
Next off, let's take a look at some NBA players' reactions to this whole Draymond and Poole
thing.
Former Warriors Festus Azele said,
Things like this happen.
In practice.
In games.
There's no way anyone wins a championship without this.
It always happens.
Stop overreacting.
But he also added,
I'mma need to get you back though to salvage that relationship.
Another former Warrior said,
Fire whoever leaked that video.
Got a whole bunch of mofos who can't be trusted.
Everybody wrong.
As soon as Dray started walking, somebody's supposed to get in front of him.
Looks like the video guys and support staff got more heart than some of the chumps on
the sideline.
Ja Morant tweeted an emoji with two eyes.
Isaiah Thomas went on a bit of a rant.
Evan Fournier doesn't believe that you can be teammates again after a punch like that.
Trey Young thinks Draymond's trying to make his way to LA.
Kendrick Perkins said a whole lot of stuff that I don't take seriously anymore, then
he followed it with a carry on.
Rudy Gobert said that insecurity is loud.
Anyways, despite all the noise going around the league, like I said earlier, in the grand
scheme of things, nothing will change.
I mean, in 2019, even with Draymond and Durant getting into that scuffle where harsh words
were uttered by Draymond, the Warriors were still going to win the championship, if not
for the string of injuries that happened in the playoffs.
And despite this incident, the Warriors are still going to have payroll issues after the
2023 season concludes.
Then with regards to punishment, GM Bob Myers was reported to say that Draymond won't be
facing any suspensions going forward, so after the emotions are settled, things will just
return back to business as usual.
Me personally, I still think Draymond is a great guy who just lost control of his emotions
for a split second and deserves some type of punishment from the Warriors and probably
needs to take some type of anger management class that can help him redirect his energy.
But in saying that again, like I said earlier, after everything settles, he and Poole will
be cool again.
I mean, Shaq and Charles Barkley also had their fair share of battles on the court before
they're practically best friends now on Inside the NBA.
Anyways, so back to the video that surfaced.
Something I want to point out that I found hilarious was this.
Alright, so as you can see here, when Draymond started walking towards Poole to get in his
face, one of the coaches of the Warriors already knew something was going on.
He follows Draymond and uh, initially I thought he was gonna break it up or at least do something,
but even after the punch, he does absolutely nothing.
