Today we are going to be showing you how to do a plait.
Very simple, very easy and yeah.
Firstly, we're going to start by brushing out the mane so there's no
knots and everything is nice and smooth and ready for us to plait.
You can use either a tail brush or even a mane comb.
I prefer to use a nice big brush to get all the knots out to start with
and then use the mane comb to split the plaits.
So the first plait I'm going to do, I'm going to use a wet sponge
to get all the little pieces of hair together and to make it nice and tight to plait.
So you've got a bit of grip.
So make the whole piece wet and then I'll start plaiting.
Important to make your plait really tight at the top.
Fold the last little piece of hair over and then you're going to wrap the elastic
quite nice and tight around it so that the hairs are all flat.
So there you've got your plait down.
So normally we would plait the whole mane first and then start with rolling
but I'm just going to show you how to roll this one plait.
When rolling I always use a double elastic just in case the one breaks.
So I always fold the plait over and then fold it again and you've got a nice little ball.
Or what some people do, they roll the plait and there you have a nice little plait.
This plait I'm going to show you how to use, well to plait with gel.
So you can use normal hair gel or we have some awesome plaiting gel at the top
and it's the same thing like the sponge.
You're going to put it from the top so you're going to get all those little pieces of hair in
and at the bottom rub it all in.
So that is how you plait a mane.
One with water and one with gel so you can choose whichever you prefer.
I personally prefer the gel.
We have some really awesome plaiting equipment in the shop
so you can shop online at www.bluehavensteel.co.za
or you can pop into our retail store.
