This year's legislative session, led by Lt. Governor David Zuckerman (Progressive), Senator Tim Ashe (Progressive), and Speaker Mitzi Johnson (Democrat), has been one of the most ineffective and unfocused effort in recent memory.
Over 700 bills have been proposed this session so far, and all we've received is wasted time on a recount and ill-conceived proposals for a plastic bag tax, coffee tax, new gun regulations, $80 million in new payroll taxes, $2.00 per night occupancy fee, legalizing marijuana, an artificial intelligence commission and the carbon tax.
David Dean, Chair, Natural Resources and Fish and Wildlife Committee in the Vermont House
and the committee in which reside the carbon reduction bills that have been introduced in
the Vermont Legislature. We think these bills will be good for Vermont's economy as we build
towards the future and knowing that other states around us are also working on this issue
is invigorating if nothing else.
