Watch Jasbir Dhillon, a doctor and car lover, talk about how his 1989 Ferrari F40 became his lucky charm.
The Ferrari F40 (tipo F120) is a rear-wheel drive mid-engine sports automobile designed by Nicola Materazzi and styled by Pininfarina. It was manufactured from 1987 to 1992, with the LM and GTE racing car variants being manufactured until 1994 and 1996, respectively.
In 1987, the automobile was released with a projected manufacturing total of 400 units and a factory suggested retail price of around US$400,000 (five times the price of its predecessor, the 288 GTO).
One of those belonged to Formula One driver Nigel Mansell and was sold in 1990 for a then-record £1 million, a record that remained until the 2010s. A total of 1,315 automobiles were produced, with 213 of them going to the United States.
