Today I want to show you one of my dresses and how I made it shorter. It's made from viscose - elastic knitted fabric and I was afraid to hem it. But it's very easy with a basic sewing machine.

Hi! My name is Katya. Greetings from Russia and welcome back to my channel. Today I want to show
you this dress. I bought it so long ago and as you can see it's too long for me. So I never wear it
and today I think I'm ready to shorten it by myself. I'm planning to wear it with no heels
so the length of it should be a little above the floor, one centimeter above the floor.
So let's get started! First of all you should mark the new length of your dress. To make it put on
the dress and stand on the chair and then ask someone to help you. Make a few marks in the
different places. It would be perfect if you wear the same shoes that you plan to wear with this
dress. So here is my dress and now you need to find our marks. Here it is and now determine how
much we need to cut. And now mark the same lengths all along the edge of the dress.
But don't forget to add some similar ones to make a folded hem. And now you can cut the excess
fabric. The very important thing now is to find the matching color thread. So now you can fold the
edge and hem your dress. You can use a double needle to make it. It gives a very beautiful and
stretchy stitching. But today I decided to do it with a plain narrow zigzag stitch. I only made a
single fold because my fabric won't unravel. But you also can make a double fold for an extra
security. And now I'm cutting off the excess fabric. So here is the final look. So I hope you
like this tutorial. Now I'm trying to post on every Saturday and maybe Wednesdays. So
please subscribe to my channel and see you in my next videos. Bye-bye!
