This is a short Vlog on the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California. We learn a little bit about its history, and walk across like the tourists we are ha.
Currently working in this awesome city, and want to share the cool places and experiences with you.

And we're going that way.
Emanuele! Don't leave me!
No!
Hey there everyone, my name is Eduardo Arroyo
and today we're going to visit one of the most representative landmarks
of not just California, but the entire United States.
That is, the Golden Gate Bridge.
In San Francisco you can see the Golden Gate Bridge in literally everything.
You can see it on bags, shirts, cups,
and any other logo for anything that you might think of is probably there.
Not only that, but the bridge is also featured in countless books, movies, and even video games.
But how did this come to be?
Well, today we're going to learn more about it.
The first time I came to San Francisco,
I thought the Golden Gate Bridge connected San Francisco to the city of Oakland.
When I learned this was not the case,
I felt weird for some reason.
Like some sort of Mandela effect or something.
The Golden Gate Bridge is actually located to the north of the city of San Francisco
and it connects San Francisco to the Marin, a smaller county on the other side.
Today I'm taking the bus which is the most direct and cheapest option to get to the bridge.
Of course, if you don't have the money to take an Uber.
I'm almost here guys, the Golden Gate Bridge.
I'm excited, there's no fog today so it's great.
Alright guys, now that we're finally here, we can ask the question.
Who had the brilliant idea to make this?
I'm not going to go over the exact story because that would be boring.
What I'm going to do is I'm going to tell you a very broad and summarized version
so that you get the picture and you get to know a little bit about the bridge.
So there's this guy, right? An engineer.
He's like, yo, there should be a better way to get from this place to that place.
And then everyone else was like, hmm, well we have a ferry for that.
So I don't think we need anything else.
And then the engineer guy was like, yeah, that's not what I had in mind.
I was actually thinking about a bridge.
And then everyone else was like, what? A bridge?
Even if it's possible, which it's probably not, that'd be too damn expensive, bro.
Then the engineer guy was like, stop, trust me, I know about this thing.
Which he really didn't.
And then the engineer was like, trust me, it'll be great and cheaper than you think.
And after a few years of litigating with people and organizations who were against the bridge,
the bridge was finally accepted.
And that's the story of how the bridge came to be in a nutshell.
And now look here, guys. Look at what we found.
Look at the thickness of this part of the suspension cable.
This is the size of a freaking floor.
Now you can see how this bridge is considered one of the top and greatest structures in the civil engineering world.
Look guys, if we look closer, you can see that this big cable is made out of millions of other tiny cables.
Cool?
I think so.
Now look at all these tourists, so many of them.
Now that I think about it, we kind of look like tourists.
We are one of you.
Last year, more than 25 million people came to see the bridge.
And it's been steadily increasing for years.
Most people come to San Francisco for the food, for the sights, including this amazing bridge, and to take this picture.
So this is the man that we've been talking to you about.
His name is Joseph Strauss.
He was the chief engineer in charge of the construction of the bridge, and the bridge itself is accredited to him.
Even if there were a lot of other engineers and designers who also took an important part in the construction of the bridge.
We're slowly but surely making our way to the bridge.
But we stopped in this area where you can see an amazing view of the bridge itself, as well as the American flag and the ocean.
In this area, you can also see a replica of the bridge, and we're going to go check it out right now.
This is the area where you can see the replica of the bridge, and you can see how it works.
I'm going to go ahead and shake it right now so you can see how it vibrates in order to withstand any sort of seismic activity.
Or you can pretend that you're Godzilla attacking San Francisco.
Okay guys, we spent, I think, enough time on this side of the bridge.
Right now, we're going to go ahead and head over to the bridge and walk to the other side to check out what else can you see on that side of the bridge.
We're walking across the bridge, and actually today, there's no bikers allowed, which kind of sucks because I've done it before and it's really hard.
But right now, there are only an hour of pedestrians to go by.
So that's what we're doing, searching for views and hoping to get to the other side very soon.
Look guys, this is the bottom of the bridge.
You can see all the structures there, all the supporting structures. That's pretty cool.
And we're going that way.
Hey Manuela, don't leave me! No! No!
Hey there you guys, we made it to the other side.
Right now, we are located at Vista Point.
And this is another touristy place that people frequent in order to get a nice view of the bridge and also take a look at the skyline.
And this is another place where people come here to take another touristy picture.
At Vista Point, you can get an awesome viewpoint of the skyline of the city of San Francisco.
The tallest building that you can see is the Salesforce Tower.
And the building kind of to the left of it, the really pointy one, that's the Transamerica Tower.
The rest of the buildings, I don't really know the names, but they do add to the beauty of this beautiful skyline of San Francisco.
From this point, you can also see the island of Alcatraz, which is another important landmark of the city of San Francisco.
And maybe in another video, we'll come back and visit it.
If they catch me.
Alright guys, from here I say goodbye.
Hopefully you guys enjoyed experiencing the bridge with me.
Learning about its history and also its importance.
And also becoming a tourist for a day.
Remember guys, to be kind, have an open mind.
We'll see you next time.
