In this video, we take you on one of the most gorgeous hikes we've ever been on! The Roys Peak Trek, just outside of Wanaka took us nearly 6 hours to complete, but so worth it. You've never seen such a turquoise lake, snow-capped mountains, and a roving hang glider, quite like this!

The way down has proved to be much more difficult than we thought.
What's up P Nation? We are in Wanaka, New Zealand and it is beautiful here as you can see the
California golden hills, I mean New Zealand golden hills are behind me and today we're gonna go
check out Roy's Peak Trek. We have no idea what we're getting ourselves into. It might be
miles and miles of beautiful walking trails or it could be really short. We're not really sure
but after that we're gonna go to Queenstown.
All right we are just starting the Roy's Peak Trek. Apparently it takes six hours.
We didn't know that. It looks pretty high. We've tried to scale a mountain already once in New
Zealand and we were proven wrong because it was a lot higher than we thought it was. So we'll see
how this goes. So as a result of being in Antarctica for five months, Zach and I are pretty out of shape
but we're ready for this. Maybe not six hours worth of hiking but enough to get up this hill.
We have a full night's rest. We've got bread, peanut butter, and apple in us right now.
We have a cup of coffee and a cup of tea and lots of water. I peed like five times.
I'm super hydrated. Let's go. Two hours later we are in the middle I think. I don't know.
But it is beautiful and now we're on a flat part and I'm trying to see a lamb but we don't know.
We are getting up there. I think we're two-thirds of the way up to the top and we did finally see
some lambs and it is so beautiful here. It is but this is hard. I'm glad that I looked at the map
and I realized that it took six hours or else we'd be like, oh are we taking way too long? Do we have
enough time? How many miles is this? Everything's not in miles. It's in kilometers so. Thankfully
Wanaka is really close to Queentinstown or else we would not have had time to do this.
This is the only thing we were doing today. And it's perfect. It's a perfect day. The 60 degree
wind is amazing and it's just so relaxing. It's like that looks so daunting to get to and then I
see people right there and I'm like, oh maybe. And then we just keep getting higher and higher but
it's not motivating because it looks so far away. I've made it to the top. The view is definitely
worth the four hours we hiked. Like look at this. What is going on? There are snow-capped mountains in the
background. Got like two different lakes. Literally the most blue lake you could have ever imagined in your
whole life. It is absolutely spectacular and gorgeous and definitely worth the trip up here.
Okay and there's the glacier and then here's the river that carries the glacier milk
all the way to the lake. That's why it's so blue. The way down is true to be much more
difficult than we thought. It's steep and my knee hurts. So it's taken us probably just as long to
get down as it did to get up. I would have never thought but as you can see behind us the view is
amazing and it's really peaceful. We're almost there. We did it. We made it down in one piece. My
leg is still attached. Now it's time to stretch for like 30 minutes and then we're going to hit the road
and go to Queenstown which is where we're told is the best city in New Zealand. I don't know
if that's true or not but we'll find out and we'll show you.
And we have made it to downtown Queenstown. It is super hopping down here. I didn't realize how big
this town would be and it's right on the mountains. It's beautiful. It's like there's
so many towns here that are just situated right in the mountains on a beautiful turquoise lake
and they're just absolutely spectacular and beautiful but this is definitely the biggest one
and apparently we just heard from our friend that this is the most active place or like
the town that has the most outdoor activities in the entire world which is crazy.
All right and that concludes today. It was an amazing day. The hike was awesome. I'm not as sore
as I thought I would be. What about you? Me either. I think it's because we stretched like literally right
afterwards. For so long. Like literally chugged so much water and then ate a meal. We've had two
snack dinners so far. We might have a third one because we're so hungry but Queenstown is amazing.
If you ever have the chance to come here it is truly different from any other New Zealand town.
And there's a lot to do. There's a lot of restaurants and stuff. Yeah I wish we had more time here
but we got more nature to see. Off to the next thing.
Can you see us? There we go.
