Elton John has found himself a new property to add to his already stacked real estate portfolio and this time it’s located in Toronto’s downtown core. His husband, David Furnish is Canadian, hailing from Toronto himself so it makes sense they picked up a spot here. During an interview with the Globe and Mail after his final show in the same city, Elton revealed that a luxury penthouse known as The Treehouse in the KING Toronto complex will be the couple’s new and reported sixth home. Built by Danish architect Bjarke Ingels, the project, expected to be finished in Fall 2023, looks like “stacked boxes of light” and the penthouse gets its name The Treehouse because an actual tree grows inside the modern two level space. Aside from this, some of Sir Elton John’s other lavish properties include a chic estate in Beverly Hills, as well as homes in England and France.
Each home actually has its own little garden in the sky with grass and with trees.
This project, far more than any other project ever done in Toronto,
is bringing nature into the city in really interesting and creative ways.

Also, Michael and I have dropped our own house tour of our new home that we moved into this year,
so go ahead and subscribe to our personal channel if you want to see where we're living and more of what we're up to.
In these videos, we don't reveal any addresses, and even though I've done a house tour of my own place,
please do not show up at any private residences because it's not safe for anyone.
Sir Elton John has purchased a treehouse in Toronto, Canada, where his husband David Furnish is from,
and it's located in one of the city's most anticipated apartment buildings.
In a sit-down interview with The Globe and Mail, Elton talked about his new two-level home,
with four terraces that will be located in the King, Toronto complex,
right in the heart of Toronto's fashion district downtown.
King, Toronto has been heavily talked about, and it's going to be built to look like stacked units
or stacked boxes of light, kind of like a mountain with live trees planted throughout the building, too.
Created by Denmark's Bjarke Ingels Group, this condo complex boasts high-class amenities, too,
such as two pools, a courtyard, saunas and steam rooms, a fully-equipped gym, and four separate lobbies.
Architect Bjarke Ingels came up with the idea for the project,
and not only does the complex resemble stacked boxes, but Sir Elton John's penthouse here is called the treehouse
because an actual tree grows inside the modern two-level space.
The King, Toronto development actually includes four tower constructions, known as mountains,
each designed with a different take on nature.
Developers said this about the vision,
The penthouses are your own sanctuary in the sky.
They're the opportunity to come home to a mountaintop, with the world at your feet.
Each offer, in their own way, the deep integration of nature through the integration of trees,
foliage, and outdoor terraces, meaningful sustainability, a commitment to artistry,
and stunning panoramic views of the city.
As we know, Elton and David's unit is a penthouse, and they'll share the space with their two young sons.
Furthermore, the penthouses are the focal point of the entire building,
and each overlooks a different part of Toronto.
Elton's penthouse, or the treehouse, is said to boast custom brass details,
arch wine cellars, private tearooms, en suite tearooms,
and custom libraries that cover two private levels.
Their unit reportedly offers three bedrooms and three bathrooms,
as well as that live tree growing inside its 2,602 square feet of living space.
Furthermore, the home includes four terraces, making a total of 597 square feet of terrace space.
In terms of its design, the treehouse features a futuristic style by Eero Saarinen,
while listing materials also explain about his unit that
custom brass details and uplights accentuate special moments throughout,
from a flowing spiral staircase to an inner courtyard with a mature planted tree as a centerpiece.
Elton's kitchen will be finished in black and warm metals, as well as custom lighting.
Both levels have balconies stacked with lush plants as well,
and there's a ton of space to house the art the couple has collected over the years.
When Elton was asked about why he bought a home in Toronto, he explained,
The main reason I'm coming off the road is to spend more time with my family.
David's brothers and their wives and children are here, we spend a lot of the summer in Canada.
King Toronto is expected to be completed by Fall 2023,
so the couple likely won't move in until the end of next year.
But in case you're interested in investing in a unit here, they won't be cheap.
Homes will start at $1.3 million and go up to $5 million or more for the most luxurious and spacious ones.
Of course, Elton John and his husband David have a main residence located in Beverly Hills as well,
which they purchased in 2012.
And the decoration is just about as personalized to Sir Elton as they come,
also boasting a ton of vibrant colors.
The contemporary home was built in 1966 and recently redone before the purchase,
located in the trendy and very expensive community of Truesdale Estates in Beverly Hills.
While the property was listed at over $7.6 million,
it was reported that Elton snagged the single level house for $7.3 million,
and it offers 4,200 square feet with four beds and 5.5 baths.
The home offers old school architecture and a modern vibe with pops of color and sleek furnishings throughout.
Apparently, one of the features that drew the couple to the home was its open floor plan
with a spacious living and dining area since they love to entertain,
and this spot, well, it's perfect for that.
The home is walled, gated, and additionally offers a staff bedroom with bathroom
as well as a separate pool cabana with gym area and another bathroom.
Also out on the ground, there's a pool and spa next to a classy terrace decked out in white lounge furniture.
Inside, the home has a one-of-a-kind flair with different patterned wallpapers in many of the rooms,
while others are painted a fresh and crisp white.
White oak floors and long gallery walls run through the main living areas
where there's a formal living room with fireplace, dining room, and family room with wall-mounted TV.
This space connects to the breakfast room and all-white top-of-the-line center island kitchen.
There's also plenty of floor-to-ceiling windows and sliders on the rear of the home
which offer amazing city views and access to the patio.
One of the coolest parts of Elton's Truesdale Estates home has gotta be his art collection displayed throughout.
His art seems to have been a priority when designing each of the rooms,
such as the David LaChapelle snaps in the living room complementing the zebra rug and pink coffee table.
Other rooms offer neon artwork and even vintage Versace in the master bath.
More recently, Elton and David also picked up the property directly next door to their main Beverly Hills house,
creating a mini compound.
At the end of 2021, Elton spent $8.5 million on the half-acre property beside his house in an off-market deal,
so now he has nearly a full acre of land altogether.
The home was never publicly listed for sale, so there aren't any interior photos online,
but we do know it's a single-level, mid-century modern-style build built in the late 1960s but updated in the years since.
There are also 5,343 square feet throughout with five beds and five baths.
The exterior is painted a less-than-favorable shade of yellow,
but I'm sure that'll be changed soon if they didn't change it already,
and the property is walled and gated for privacy.
While the landscaping seems a bit unkempt, the spread has potential,
and the grounds consist of a grassy lawn and a swimming pool, as well as more hedges for privacy.
Being a native of England, of course, Sir Elton also owns a couple of homes here,
one of which is in Windsor, and an additional, smaller townhome in Queensteel, London.
The first house, Woodside, Elton refers to as the Hub, has classic English interiors, romantic gardens,
a dozen or more dogs roaming the property, and plenty of guest rooms for friends and family.
While we don't know the exact details about his two estates here,
Elton has described the Windsor house as quote-unquote tastefully over-the-top,
and there is vintage feel throughout, with a beautiful 18th century orangery at the end of the driveway,
which is quote-unquote tech-free.
His London pad has a European villa aesthetic that is classic and sophisticated.
The Windsor estate is far from modest, and has numerous rooms from a luxury library to a salon
and even its very own chapel.
Elton restored that orangery at the end of the driveway, as I mentioned,
and now it's a complete retreat with no TVs, no phones, and only classical music.
The space has a salon room full of antiques where you can enjoy some champagne before dinner,
as well as another library for writing letters.
The chapel on his property is dedicated to honouring those close to him that have passed,
like Versace, Princess Diana, and Elton's beloved grandmother.
Also inside his Windsor estate, there's a squash court that has been transformed into a skylight art gallery,
and an amazing garden with fountains and statues to the side of the mansion.
Another living room has a fireplace and is decked out with more antiques,
and the formal dining room has a dark blue for the walls and drapery.
Elton's London townhouse design was actually inspired by the star's friendship with the late Freddie Mercury.
He acquired a taste for blonde wood furniture after seeing how Freddie used it in his home at the time,
and decked out his place in the same material.
Elton, the star pianist, may have baby grand pianos at his other homes,
but he refuses to put one in this London pad because he insists that it'll never get used.
Before we wrap this video up, let's look at one of Elton's more recent property acquisitions,
his charming 1920s abode in Nice, France, which he likes to call a summer house.
This home is used as a vacation retreat as you might expect,
and it's located high up in the mountainside, boasting views of the Alps and the bay.
The property is close enough to the airport, making for easy travel to and from,
and it's also easy for his friends to get to.
The summer house is definitely a place for Elton to connect with loved ones,
where they can join him for a meal out on the terrace and have a luxury room to stay in.
This sunny yellow estate was built in the 1920s as an artist's colony
before Elton hired designers Fred Dilger and Monique Gibson to transform the interior with his flamboyant tastes.
He wanted stone, glass and mirror, wood, wrought iron and linen used throughout,
as well as open spaces for the warm weather.
Inside, there's a mostly white color palette with splashes of color and plenty of vibrant art pieces.
In the living room, there's a neutral background with a glass and art collection
with three ink blot paintings by Andy Warhol.
In Elton's private master suite, there's another Warhol painting above his designer bed and pink bed covers.
Elsewhere, you'll find an airy tower room which overlooks the Mediterranean.
The property at Elton's summer home also shows floral arrangements all over and amazing scenic gardens.
It looks like something straight out of the movies.
Well, I think after checking out Sir Elton John and David Furnish's upcoming and very unique Toronto treehouse condo,
as well as some of their other homes, that's going to wrap up this house tour.
But before we go, answer this question.
Would you invest millions in a luxury Toronto condo like the treehouse if you had the money,
even with the steep real estate market in the city now?
