They're telling me now I am cancer free.
This gives me a chance to get out and be around people and the actual human contact of
and knowing that I'm in safe hands and that I'm just going to have an hour where I don't even
have to think about the cancer or think about the grandkids or anything. It's my hour and it's for me.
Oncology massage therapy focuses on the needs of our patients, the ever-changing needs of
our patients, being from initial diagnosis to treatment to end of life. It just helped me feel
better. It gave me courage and it gave me strength to get up and get dressed whereas
you know all I want to do is lay around the house and do nothing. Some of the benefits of massage
is massage provides comfort and is relaxing. It can reduce the severity and symptoms of side effects.
It can improve sleep and it can reduce a sense of isolation. Massage therapy offers emotional
support with positive touch and massage therapy creates peace of mind and a source of well-being.
Definitely tell the difference between a spa massage and the light touch massage that I get
here. Their main focus is my comfort level and that has just been the most awesome part of it.
The adjustments that we make for our patients is positioning. We allow them to be in whatever
position they're able to. As far as pressure, we want to stay in a range that is comfortable for
them. As far as positioning goes, if the patient had just had surgery, we may prompt them up
or they may want to lay on their side, whatever is comfortable for them that day.
