Wow, I can't get over this Steve. This place is so breathtaking.
Okay, now it's hailing.
Wow, I can't get over this Steve. Oh my gosh guys last time we saw you we were in Slovakia
doing an amazing road trip and now we come to you from the German Alps.
So we've actually had quite the travel day to get us out here in the south of Germany.
It started in Bratislava in Slovakia.
We caught a bus nice and early all the way to Vienna to then fly out towards Stuttgart.
There we picked up our car and pretty much drove two and a half hours to get to the Alps.
All right, so Stephen, how is it being back on the Autobahn?
I'll never get over just the speed limit and I'm going like
130 and there's still cars overtaking me.
People are going to make fun of you in the comments, I just know it. Every time, like, it's the Autobahn.
So I think we might be driving into Austria right now, whoops, I don't know, but we're definitely in Austria, it's a short cut.
And 30 minutes later we are back in Germany.
I know for Europeans watching this video, it probably doesn't even matter taking a shortcut through another country to save 30 minutes of your trip.
Being Australian, you can't do that.
So it just blows our mind every time we go into another country.
I can't believe we made it just before sunset.
Wow.
I need to feel it.
Oh, it's cold, Steve.
Is it?
Yes, but I have to go in.
It's just so nice.
Look at this place.
So breathtaking.
So this time yesterday we knew we were going to come to the south of Germany, but we weren't sure where.
So we asked you where to go and we wanted something natural and out of the towns.
And you guys told us to come to this lake.
And we're currently looking at the tallest mountain in all of Germany.
So if you guys are just tuning in or you just found us, this is actually our return visit to Germany.
Last year we came out and we had the most incredible time.
That's why we're back.
We went on the autobahn for the very first time.
We did the fairytale route.
So we saw those cute little German traditional towns.
We even stayed in a castle, which was pretty cool.
And on that trip, we realized how much more important it is to see the countryside and get away from the cities.
So that's why we've come out to see the nature.
And I'm so glad we did, because this is an incredible first stop.
You know, one of my favorite things is about coming to Europe, is that you can wake up in the morning in one country
and then watch the sunset in a completely different place.
So true. Amazing.
But Jess, I think we better enjoy this because we better go.
I was just checking our booking.
We booked a B&B guys and check-in was six o'clock when the little old lady is not going to be anymore.
And it's 8 p.m.
now. All right.
So we're either going to be checking in late and annoying an old lady, or we're going to be sleeping in our car until she comes in at 6 a.m.
tomorrow.
Okay.
The town that we are staying at is so cute.
Oh, right on the mountain as well.
All right.
Fingers crossed this place is still open.
Seriously, just met the cutest little German lady who checked us in.
She was super nice.
She like waited up for us, but I can't wait to show you where we're staying.
So we're staying just up there.
We'll show you it more in the morning because it's quite dark at the moment and we are super hungry.
Very hungry.
Barely eaten.
But when I was finding a place to stay, because it's such a small town, there was only a couple of places available.
And most were around 200 to 300 euro a night.
But this place I found for only a hundred euro.
And it is so cute.
This is perfect.
Oh, I like how she's done it up to get our bed just here.
A little bit of a nook that's been built into the side of the wall.
And I show the bathroom.
It's really cute.
It's really nice.
I like how she's done it up.
Wait, we also have a balcony.
Sorry, it's getting really dark.
I feel like you'll be able to see the view right in front of the mountain.
Okay, let's go find something to eat.
I'm starved.
What's going to be open?
It's like nine o'clock at night on a Sunday.
Something will be open.
In a very small town.
German pub.
Guys, there was a pizzeria open and we ain't complaining.
That was so good.
Perfect way to end the night.
We'll see you in this cute town tomorrow morning.
Good morning, guys.
It's the next day and I think we are just being hit
with a little bit of moody weather.
This is the view of Zugspitz from our balcony.
I swear it was there yesterday.
We just had our morning fruit truck and it was just so cute.
The grandma had set out everything perfectly.
Little bread hanging from the ceiling.
Little egg bowls.
Everything you could have wanted.
But I quickly wanted to show you guys.
This is pretty much our place.
This is what it looks like in the morning.
As you can see, the little balconies with the orange flowers growing up the top.
So nice.
What's not nice is this weather, though.
Literally, we cannot see the mountain.
Yesterday it was there.
It is now just a white ball of evilness.
But we actually don't have any rain right now,
so we're quickly jumping on the road to see if we can see a spot
before the rain comes back.
Guys, I know we don't have the best weather,
but we cannot come to the Bavarian Alps and not go up at least one mountain.
And we had a Google.
And if you want to go up Zugspitz, it is over 50 euros to go up the cable car,
which I think is quite pricey.
But I found out if you go up one of the surrounding mountains,
it's around only 20 euros for a cable car.
So we've come to a mountain.
Fingers crossed it's open because it is not the best weather,
but we're going to stand on a mountain today.
The reviews were a great view, great food and great name.
Hi, I was just wondering, are the cable cars going up today?
Yes. Oh, could I please get two tickets?
Yes.
I'm so shocked.
Why do we do that?
I feel like you never had the best time.
Well, look how misty and moody it is up there.
So misty. I feel like we're going to have the best views.
I know. Hey, at least I'm not just giving up.
And at least we can say we've stood on a mountain in Germany.
Going up and up.
It's weird because you actually can't see where we left
and we can't see where we're going.
So I don't even know how long this is going to take.
You can see people in that one.
How's the views up there?
At least we know people are coming out of that
because that looks like the monster from James
and the giant beach in front of us.
OK, now it's hailing.
Well, it is just missed.
I saw a 1780 meters high.
That was actually pretty good.
20 minutes, I'd say 20 minute cable car ride.
It definitely felt worth it.
They also have some nice chairs set up here so you can see the view.
Hey, we're standing on top of a mountain in Germany.
Oh, that's pretty cool.
Here comes Mr.
Hot chocolate, man.
This is perfect hot chocolate weather.
Oh, thank you.
Well, cheers to conquering our first German mountain.
Cheers. Cheers, Pops.
I think we're getting a little bit of German luck.
Look, it's clearing
and we're starting to see it's like a little blanket slowly shifting away.
The fogs and clouds keep moving in and out, and every now and then
we keep seeing a little look at the mountain range in front of us.
Like, look at that.
Oh, it looks it's actually very cool up here.
So we bunkered down in our B&B because it is so rainy today.
But one thing we've noticed in our B&B is that grandma has a little mini
snack shop.
That's so cute.
I had to show you guys that it's just down here.
And what you do, it's an honesty box, so she has different drinks.
She even has schnapps.
So German.
And then she also has some.
Oh, I remember these from last time.
I think we're going to grab one of these.
All of these different snacks.
And then when you pick what you want,
you just write on what you want to have.
We're just saying goodbye to the beautiful mountains.
We're on the way out.
Jess said we needed to pull the car over because we found some.
It's electric!
That is an electric shock!
Really? Is it an electric shock?
Don't touch it.
Oh, my God. I've never felt that before.
Electricity just went through my whole body and through my legs.
Oh, my God.
Oh, Steve, you don't realize that, like, was intense.
OK, I'm awake.
Don't touch it.
Are you sure?
Don't touch it.
OK, I won't touch it.
I've never had an electric shock like that in my life.
I feel like my heart just restarted.
Oh, bubby.
Well, we came to film the goats.
Oh, OK, it's time to go.
Guys, we've just driven three hours towards the east,
crossed into Austria at least once or twice.
But welcome to Burschgarten.
So this little town is in the very southeast of Germany.
Salzburg is just around the corner.
It's pretty much where we're going to be spending our last few days here in Germany.
Hey, little pussy.
So after all that driving, I've got a little bit of an appetite.
So we've come out to a beer hall, which is very popular in Bavaria,
so in the south of Germany.
So we pretty much just come out here.
It's all open air.
We're waiting for a couple of beers.
You can pretty much just buy roast meat, roast veggies.
It's kind of like your Sunday meal, which is just perfect.
Wow, guys, we've just checked into the most breathtaking place
here in the Bavarian Alps.
Cannot wait to give you a full room tour.
But I think we're going to make a whole video on it in our final Germany episode.
So if you are new around here and you enjoy the video,
hope you hit subscribe and stick around.
See you guys in the next vlog. Bye.
I'm constantly blown away at the views we've been seeing up here
in the Bavarian Alps.
I feel like these are always my favorite moments
when we decide to go do something.
It doesn't really work out.
Guys, this is why you come to Germany.
