Part 2 is finallyyy here! I’m so excited to be sharing with you the final part of Kelsy’s makeover. In case you missed part 1, Kelsy is a good friend of mine and she recently got her very own studio apartment in Tucson, AZ. The apartment is just a tad over 400 sq feet. Kelsy has a muscle condition known muscular dystrophy, so ensuring there was space for her scooter and ADORABLE service dog, Duke, was crucial. Comment below your favorite part of the space!
T H A N K Y O U Thanks so much for watching and I hope you enjoyed. Leave any future video ideas you would like to see in the comments below and don't forget to subscribe!
Today's video is kindly sponsored by SimpliSafe.
Hi everybody, welcome back to part two of Kelsey's extreme, small, 440 square foot, tiny, loft, industrial makeover.
If you guys happen to miss part one, definitely use the link or card up here,
and then I'll also link it in the description box below because it is definitely like the preface to part two, of course.
In part one, we went ahead and kind of removed everything.
I gave you guys an empty loft tour.
I shared with you some of the new furniture that's going in.
We painted a really cool art toy that's going behind the bed.
And in today's video is all of the finishing touches.
So we're doing some gallery walls, some decor, some DIY, and of course, the reveal,
which is my most favorite part of any makeover.
If you watched part one, you would have seen just 24 hours before leaving Los Angeles to fly there,
we found out that the space was 10 less feet than what it was actually supposed to be.
Wait, I, I, I really-
Fifteen?
Fifteen.
Twenty-five!
And of course, that threw a humongous wrench in my floor plans
because a lot of you guys probably saw the bed was originally gonna go on the brick wall
and then the couch was just gonna go on the white wall.
And a lot of people were commenting about that in part one.
I do want to mention that because so many people were like,
why would you ever want the bed next to the kitchen?
And, you know, you're waking up and you're looking at your kitchen.
I kind of had to reconfigure it a bit.
Kelsey truly just doesn't really mind her bed being close to the kitchen anyways
because she doesn't use the kitchen very often, so it's not super accessible to her.
And she actually mentioned to me that it's really nice having that counter area right there
when she gets out of bed in the morning to be able to transfer herself into the scooter.
So I just wanted to give you guys kind of the direction.
I just felt like the orientation I opted for was the best one for Kelsey's personal lifestyle
and gave her more space to live in and Duke more space to live in as well.
But no more blabbering, you guys.
We are jumping into part two of this makeover because there is a lot to go over still
and I am so excited for you to see the reveal, so let's dive on in.
Good morning, you guys! Day three over at Kelsey's apartment.
And I thought I'd start off today by hanging up this lovely TV here.
I'm not the biggest fan of mounting TVs, so I thought I'd do it off camera for you guys.
And it'll be hung in three, two, one.
And there she is on the wall! It took me like four hours.
I was really struggling, you guys, but it is up and it's beautiful.
It is more on the right side of the console and that's because I want to put some artwork around here
to add some interest to the wall.
So I thought I would put the actual TV more on the bottom right side
so it's closer to the couch area and the bed.
It's on a swivel mount as well, so kind of hard to do with one hand and trying to film,
but I could swivel it, as you could see, over to the couch area
so you can watch it from the couch and then it's just directly across from the TV.
So it's viewable from really everywhere in the studio.
But I do want to go ahead and jump into making the bed
and get a visual, like, look at all the coloring and the space
with the arched wall that we did and all that sort of stuff.
So the TV is up. It looks really, really great.
But let's get to making the bed.
The bed has been styled and I love it.
The lighting sucks right now, but I'll give you guys an actual, like, representation
of what this looks like maybe tomorrow morning.
But I really love all of the colors here.
Some brown tones back here.
This lumbar has a lot of really fun, kind of, like, muted colors in it.
It has some purple and some tan and there's some green in there too.
I did three kind of larger throw pillows back there, then two, and then a lumbar,
and then added a throw blanket.
We also noticed that Kelsey had these little, you know, storage bins over in her desk area
and we're gonna grab a couple more of them because we thought it would be really cute
in order to kind of hide some of the stuff under the bed
was to do four storage bins at the end
and then the dog bed will go right, kind of, at the end of those as well
to act, first of all, as extra storage.
But it also looks really pretty, um, in, like, combination with the bed area.
At the moment, we are taking all of our frames.
As you guys can see, there's a ton of frames here.
Kelsey already had some and we bought a couple more at Target
because I want to create a gallery wall in this area.
So incorporating the TV and then just some artwork to add some interest.
So let's get to gallery walling.
These are literally just the cardboard pieces on the back.
I didn't want to go through and make these paper templates to start
just because this was just quicker and easier
but I did go back through and make paper templates of all the frames
and I also added the nail hole as well
so I could plop these up in place of their current spot.
Add a nail and then we can add all the frames.
Now, in the center here, I actually opted to do a record
because we didn't have any frames that were square
and I just needed a little bit of a different shape in there
so I added a record. I love it.
And I'm gonna do the artwork actually tomorrow
just because I'm gonna order it and get it printed tonight
and we can pop it in tomorrow but let's add up all the frames.
I just found out that Kelsey has a ukulele
and how cute, you guys, would this be styled on the gallery wall?
Are you kidding?
I think it adds a nice bit of organic shape too
and I think this would look so cute on here
so I want to figure out how to mount it. Not too sure though.
Upon arriving to Kelsey's this morning, we noticed a super exciting delivery came
and it was her SimpliSafe home security system
which if you guys do not have a home security system
listen up because SimpliSafe is the one for you.
SimpliSafe actually allows you to design a system
that is best for your space and it ships directly to your doorstep.
So they have a ton of different sensors to cover
every single window, room, and door
plus a ton of great extras like water sensors,
smoke detectors, HD cameras,
and doorbell cameras. So your home is
basically professionally monitored 24-7
and if anything happens, SimpliSafe's team
will make sure to call the authorities immediately.
And one of the first questions Kelsey asked me
when I told her I was gonna install this is
how much is the monthly fee? Because normally
monitoring services like this are pretty expensive
but you guys, SimpliSafe's interactive
monitoring service begins at only 50 cents
per day which gives you around-the-clock protection
at such an affordable price point
so it's really achievable for anybody.
And one of the main reasons I ended up installing this for Kelsey
is because this is her first apartment by herself
and just to make sure that she's extra safe
and feels secure in this area, I thought
this was a great kind of precautionary thing to install
and on top of that, it only took me about
45 minutes to install the entire system
so it is extremely easy and user-friendly.
So if you guys like to check out SimpliSafe, definitely take
advantage of my incredible offer which is
20% off of your SimpliSafe security system
plus your first month is free when you sign up
for the interactive monitoring service. Just visit
simplisafe.com slash loanfox.
Another day over at Kelsey's
apartment. This is actually the second to last
day. We are leaving tomorrow at 4 o'clock
so everything has to be wrapped up tomorrow by
4. Reveal everything.
So I started this morning already adding the rug
under the couch, this little coffee table
which I believe is actually a side table.
Picked this up for $50 at the
at-home store. Some pillows on here
and then also added this really cute orb light
from Article which I love. But the first
thing I really want to start on this morning is
actually working on the nook space. Now this area
is not going to have much done to it just because it's
pretty cramped. We need Kelsey to be able to get in and
out of there but she does work at the desk all the
time doing her school work. So we're just going to
make it a little bit cuter over here. I got a new
desk lamp, a couple of hanging plants
and that is because there's a large
I guess focal
piece in the nook and I'll share with you guys what it is.
It's actually Kelsey's bearded dragon
named Agronon which is in the corner
of the nook in this humongous
cage which sits on top of her bookshelf
which is perfect. I'm just going to leave
all of this just as is.
But she does have a bearded dragon over here which
is kind of cool. I'm a little
bit terrified myself but he looks nice
to be quite honest.
Oh my gosh Marie, what are you doing?
It's my new accessory.
He's staying here. I believe all this area
actually is going to probably stay as is.
Maybe going to clean this up. I actually picked
up from HomeGoods last night a new
desk chair for Kelsey and then also
a plant here. This is a faux rubber plant
just to kind of block the side of this
cage here to almost make it appear
a bit cuter when you're looking into the nook
area. And then we're going to do a little bit of styling over
here, hang an artwork piece and maybe like a
hanging plant up there and call this a day
so let's get started.
I want to go ahead and add some artwork to the
little nook area but
Kelsey actually had this already. I'm going to go through
and just spray paint the frame black just to pull
in some more of the black from here.
It's kind of like this whitewashed effect which I think
kind of gives off a farmhouse vibe so I'm going to spray paint
this black, pop it in the nook area
and then just finish off adding a couple pieces of
styling. While I had the spray paint
already out, I decided to spray paint a couple of
older candle holders that Kelsey already had
in her collection so just to update them
for the design style I'm going for for this face.
Just finished up the little
nook area and I'm going to head
over to our little gallery
wall. I actually had all of the prints printed
this morning. I picked up literally a
pack of like 10 European
vintage style art prints on Etsy for $10
and I literally just selected four of them
and had them printed at a local print shop down the street.
I'm going to pop them in the frames over there
so that we can get these up and then style
the top of the console as well.
We're actually going to be styling the entire
console with decor she already had.
Every little piece of decor you see on top of this console
was actually something Kelsey already owned prior
and I did pop in a wood candle from my
online store. The carved wood candles are the
best.
I just went ahead and styled
the media console area and I lowered
the shelf in here because we're actually going
to put Kelsey's Instapot
in here because there is not storage
on the kitchen countertop. She had this literally out on the
counter and there's really not much counter space so I figured
why not store it in the media unit.
Here is her new home.
Goodbye!
When it came to the kitchen and Kelsey's space, she doesn't use it
too often so I just wanted to make sure that there was
clear counter space, the necessities that you
kind of need in your kitchen area, and also to add
a couple of decor elements just to make it overall look
really cute.
Little progress update. Almost everything
has been added to the space. I added a
couple of hanging plants up there.
As you can see, the sun's kind of going down
so it's a little darker in here. I also
added a hanging plant right
here by the window as well and then
one in the nook. So we have a ton of hanging plants
but I personally love that. We're just gonna
go around, give the floor a quick vacuum
everywhere, then head into the bathroom
area. And in the bathroom area, I'm
just going to be doing a kind of feature wall
in there. So I actually wasn't planning on doing the bathroom
just because we were just gonna be doing the whole outside
space and the bathroom wasn't a huge concern
for Kelsey at all. But I wanted to surprise
her and we got some peel-and-stick wallpaper at Target
so I'm gonna do one peel-and-stick wallpaper
wall, pop in a few cute accessories
just so it has a little bit of a transformation to match
the other vibes in the space. Yeah, and really
all that's left is doing our feature wall in the bathroom,
decorating it, and we are good.
To give you guys
an idea of what her bathroom looks like, it's
actually very, very spacious. And this is
the wall that I want to do the feature wall on.
Just gonna do one so that it's nice,
you know, when she's looking in the mirror. There's a fun pattern
behind here which I think will be quite nice.
Now the wallpaper I opted for is this one from
Opal House. It's like these tannish, kind of
textured polka dot pattern. And I think
it's just gonna look really cute. I got three rolls
of this and we're gonna start hanging this up.
I've done peel-and-stick wallpaper so many times,
you guys, so I feel like it's pretty self-explanatory.
So we're just gonna go on, speed through
the process, uh, and we could get this
bathroom done.
I always suggest having an X-Acto knife on hand
when you're doing peel-and-stick wallpaper. And then also
just simply remove any towel racks or
hooks prior to doing your wallpaper. It will create
such a seamless finish. I popped down this
really cute terracotta rug and a couple towels to match.
Good morning, guys! It is
reveal day at Kelsey's apartment.
I cannot believe it has come time
to reveal this space to her. I am so,
so excited. It is currently around 10.30.
She's gonna be over here at like 11,
11.15-ish. But I texted my mom the other
day and I was like, can you please send me some stuff from my
online shop? Because there were some really cute things to
incorporate into Kelsey's place. And I got a box
this morning. I thought I'd share them with you guys.
So these are the items I picked up from my store.
I got her the Inez bone frame, which is
so pretty. It has a bone inlay. And I just love
the design around here. It's a 5x7.
And then I got her the Mini Charmer face
planter, which these are literally one of the most popular items
on the site. They are so cute. And she
has some plants that I wanted to go ahead and
re-kind of migrate into this pot. And
then this one, you guys, Kelsey has big boobs. And we
always talk about that. Like, it's just like an inside
joke in our whole, like, front group. And so
essentially, I got her the boob planter
from my online store. This also comes in a butt
version, which is so cute. I had these custom-made
actually. And it's my first ever custom
item on the website. And it's just so cute.
So if you want a boob or a butt planter, those are also available.
And last but not least, I got her the
You Rock candle, which I actually am just going to put
on the coffee table right about
there. I thought that'd be a cute little accent.
Gonna place those really quickly. And then I
have one piece of DIY artwork that I want
to add as well. We added a
little Lone Fox hat right here for Kelsey,
because she wanted a Lone Fox hat. So I made sure my
mom sent one of those over as well.
And the finishing touch is just this little
minimal spackle art piece I created
last night, literally at midnight, with the help
from Kelsey's dog, Duke.
Are you helping me make a project for Kelsey?
Oh, he's the cutest.
We're making it literally in the living room, but
it's going to be covering up this electrical box
here, just because it's really not that cute.
And I just used what I had on hand for a quick
last-minute project. So I'm gonna hang that up
right there. And then it is time to reveal
the space to Kelsey.
You guys, my heart is beating so fast right now. Kelsey
is outside of the apartment, and
she is about to see the reveal of
what we have been working on for the past four days.
Now, I am so excited to share it with her.
We have the TikTok frame set up here. We have
YouTube frame by Marie in the back.
And I guess I'm just gonna go ahead and grab
her.
This is the moment. We have been planning
this for Kelsey for so long, while we've been wanting
to do it. We always talk to her about it. So this is
so exciting. I don't really know what else
to say, other than I'm so excited for you to see
it, and I hope that you love it.
And you can open your eyes in three,
two, one.
Oh my god!
So I'll give you
a tour. Oh my gosh, look! Duke's already in his
bed! Do you like it?
We didn't move your kitchen,
so it's still here, located in this
area. Added a little bit of new
styling here, but kept it pretty much how you
left it. Just cause you had it pretty good already.
And then, over
in this section here, this is what we painted.
So Kelsey knew
we were painting something, but she didn't exactly
know what we were painting, and she was kind of skeptical
about it. So we did this, like, archway
just to add a little, like, feminine
element. So we did all the bedding, which is
really cute, and we put these little baskets under
the end, just for more storage.
I know that you wanted to keep your chair.
So we kept that, and then
did your little key in this.
Or a light, which is so cute.
And then, here's your new seating area,
Kelsey. I love it!
We did, like, this little side coffee
table station, just so it wasn't, like, really big.
And you can kind of, like, move it around as you need
to, and it's not super heavy or anything.
I love this.
I love this. Isn't this so pretty?
I just love this whole area. I feel like it
looks very, like, art deco, but, like,
modern, and, I don't know,
it's just kind of fun.
Um, and then we did
all these, like, European-style artworks
in here, because we noticed you had a lot of European-style
artwork. So, you can swivel
it to the couch if you want to watch it
from the couch. Okay, nice.
Kind of stayed the same, got you, like, just, like,
cleaned it up a little bit. Yeah, yeah.
Oh my god, it's bright!
There's, like, so many hanging plants, but they're
literally all faux, so you probably have to water it.
So then, Kelsey, we weren't gonna
do, like, the bathroom area, just because we thought
this space was gonna take so long, but I had
a little bit of extra time yesterday, and I got some stuff
for the bathroom, so I thought I'd just share with you.
It's just, like, a little miniature update
so that it kind of matches everything else.
But, if you come in,
we just did this really
cute wall. Oh my god, what?
Oh my gosh! Yay!
Thank you!
Thank you guys so much! I want to, Kelsey!
This is so nice!
And Duke loves it!
You deserve it, Kelsey.
That finishes off
the final part of Kelsey's
apartment makeover, and I hope that
you guys enjoyed this video. It was such
a fun one for me to create for you guys, and it was
a little bit of a different space, just because I did have
the challenge of making sure everything was accessible
for her, and I also, of course, had the
challenge of a very, very, very small space.
The size changed just
the day before leaving, which was such a crazy
thing to think about, because literally the day
before I left, you guys, I was in my head, like,
what is gonna happen? What is fitting
in here? I have no idea, and I figured
I was just gonna figure it out when I got there, and I feel
like that is exactly what I did. So I hope that you
guys enjoyed this video, and it gave you some insight
or some design inspiration for your
personal space, and please give it a thumbs up if
you did enjoy! And if you are not already, make sure to
