The ugliest moment in the Warriors' latest 128-111 road loss Tuesday night to the Milwaukee Bucks at
Pfizer Forum didn't come on the court, even when the dubs got beaten badly by Giannis and his crew.
As the Greek freak attempted two free throws with six and a half minutes remaining in the
third quarter, Draymond Green was seen jawing with a courtside fan. It was clear, even from
a distance, there was plenty of emotion behind Green's words as the exchange lasted the duration
of both shots. It wasn't done from there. This mattered to Green and he needed to go the extra
mile to maturely take matters into his own hands. A little over a minute later, as Steph Curry took
three free throws, Green informed the officiating crew what was said to him. Once that was relayed,
it was clear what needed to be done. The fan was kicked out of the arena as he should have been.
In a post-game interview, Green explained what was told to him.
While the Warriors star didn't elaborate further what the man in question specifically said,
making death threats is certainly unacceptable. Green recently was fined $25,000 by the NBA for
directing obscene language toward a fan during the fourth quarter of the Warriors' loss to the
Dallas Mavericks. That was a much different moment, though. The fan in that case even
offered to match the fine. It was back and forth and lighthearted, despite the cursing involved.
Tuesday night in Milwaukee was quite the opposite. The incident highlights what
Green sees as a big problem throughout the NBA.
In 2021, as the Lakers visited Indiana, LeBron James was in the headlines
after the game as he ordered two fans to be ejected from their seats and sent out the stadium
after they hurled abuse at the star regarding his son. LeBron dominated to lead the Lakers to the
win but the incident occurred in the final stages of the match at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
With 2-29 remaining in overtime and the Lakers up by three, James called over referee Rodney Mott
and furiously pointed out the two fans at fault in the front row. Officials went over to the pair
and, after a brief discussion, they were ejected and escorted from their seats. The incident,
which went viral immediately, left some fans frustrated with James' action,
labeling him a snitch as the term began trending on Twitter. However, other fans reminded people
that the full details of the confrontation were not disclosed and that the fans probably crossed
the line with their language. LeBron commented on the incident in the post-game interview.
He said it went outside the lines of cheering and he had to take action.
It's the difference between cheering on your home faithful,
bullying opponents and things of that nature and not wanting your
opponents to be successful. And then there's moments where it goes outside the line with
obscene gestures and words that shouldn't be tolerated in our game from nobody.
I would never say it to a fan and a fan should never say it to a player.
The CEO of National Aircheck Media Monitoring, Rob Wexler, took to Twitter the day after the
incident to declare that James was the one to receive death threats and that the unidentified
pair seemed to want to get kicked out. A friend of mine was sitting behind them in a few seats
to the right. He said they seemed to want to get thrown out. Repeatedly wishing death upon LeBron
James, Wexler wrote, There have already been several instances of NBA fans going over the
line against opposing players, and while numerous bans have been handed, it hasn't
stopped others from harassing players. While many fans might be thinking it's all fun and
games when they are trying to get into the heads of the enemies, there is a line that
shouldn't be crossed. Tell us in the comments, how do you think the NBA should punish these
fans going forward? And if you liked this video, share, subscribe and hit the like button.
