Actor Sam Elliott is about as cool as they come, and over the course of his long-running career, he’s owned some pretty cool properties as well. The first of which is a 2.6 acre estate in Malibu, California, while the other is a ranch in Willamette Valley, Oregon. Somehow I always pictured Mr Elliot living on a ranch. Sam Elliott is not only one of the most well-known Western actors in Hollywood history, he’s basically the quintessential American Cowboy and boasts a deep baritone voice that might be even more recognizable than his iconic mustache.

Also, Michael and I have dropped our own house tour of our new home that we moved into this
year, so go ahead and subscribe to our personal channel if you want to see where we're living
and more of what we're up to.
In these videos we don't reveal any addresses, and even though I've done a house tour of
my own place, please do not show up at any private residences because it's not safe
for anyone.
Sam Elliott is not only one of the most well-known western actors in Hollywood history, he's
basically the quintessential American cowboy, and boasts a deep, baritone voice that might
be even more recognizable than his iconic mustache.
Whether he's greeting copy for Coors, Zodram, or Doritos, Sam's just as cool, calm, and
collected during those ads as he is for some of his most memorable big-screen performances
in films like The Quick and the Dead, The Big Lebowski, and Roadhouse.
Elliott was born in Sacramento, California.
When he was 13, his family moved to Portland, Oregon, where he attended high school and
settled into a more rural lifestyle.
By the mid-60s, Sam was ready to move on from his longtime family abode after the death
of his father, but the house that he had spent so many important years in would remain
under his family's ownership to this day.
By the 60s and 70s, Elliott was establishing himself as an integral part of TV series like
The Felony Squad and Mission Impossible, before booking his first film project as a bit player
in Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid.
That's where Sam met his future wife, Catherine Ross, who was one of the leads alongside Paul
Newman and Robert Redford.
About 10 years after meeting on that set, Sam and Catherine would run into each other
again during the filming of The Legacy and shortly after they'd get married.
Since reconnecting in the late 70s, these two have come to own multiple family homes,
including a lovely home in the desirable Malibu, California, as well as a ranch property in
Oregon.
Hey guys, it's Kara, back with another exclusive house tour here on Famous Entertainment, this
time looking at the homes of Hollywood's fave cowboy, Sam Elliott.

get into this video.
Sam Elliott was born on August 9th, 1944 in Sacramento, California.
His parents originally hailed from Texas, and after spending the first dozen years of
his life as a California boy, Sam headed north to Portland, Oregon.
Here, he got his own taste of the more bucolic and rustic kind of rural lifestyle, which
he would find suited him best.
Sadly, Elliott's father would pass away when Sam was only 18 years old.
At the time, Sam was in the middle of his studies at the University of Oregon, but after
his father's tragic passing, he would drop out and decide to pursue a career as an actor
in Hollywood.
And while he'd leave Oregon behind to do so, it never left his thoughts completely.
In fact, decades later, after the passing of his mother in 2012, Sam would inherit his
childhood home, and he continues to maintain possession of it to this very day.
First built in 1904, not much is known about the interior of this residence, but it clearly
holds an important place in Sam's heart if he can't bring himself to part with it.
A few years ago in 2016, while speaking with Oregon Live, Sam would discuss his ties to
the beaver state, telling them.
My mom's house is still in Portland and we still own it.
I still spend a lot of time there.
I've got a place in the Willamette Valley down near Eugene.
I'm ultimately hoping to move back to Oregon.
But with there not being too much else to see here in Sam's childhood home, why don't
we head over to his second Oregon property next.
After nearly a decade of marriage, Sam and Catherine decided to buy themselves a home
of their own in Oregon, and handpicked a ranch house with 200 acres of property located in
Harrisburg, which they were able to purchase for $560,000.
This 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom property is situated in what's known as Willamette Valley, and
when the couple first bought it, they envisioned it as a summer getaway – somewhere that
they could go to get away from California for one month each and every year.
The front facade of this family home boasts two white columns that frame either side of
its picturesque wooden front door, and lead into a residence with a surprisingly minimalistic
vibe.
For instance, the master suite boasts all grey furniture and wall-to-wall carpet, as
well as several massive windows that allow for a ton of natural light to flood the space
with only a few pops of color provided by a throw blanket and pillows.
Meanwhile, one of the other bedrooms has a similar all grey color scheme and some equally
large windows.
Both bathrooms in the home boast stunning tubs and gigantic mirrors.
And while two bathrooms might not sound like all that much, considering it's usually
just Sam and Catherine making use of this place, I'm sure it suits them just fine.
Out in the backyard, they also get to take advantage of a sizable swimming pool, alongside
a seating area that's surrounded in greenery.
Plus, with over 200 acres of land surrounding the residence, this ranch offers enough nature
and wildlife for even the most enthusiastic of wannabe cowboys.
Not that Elliot only ever spends time on his ranch, because he's also quite often seen
in the nearby town of Eugene.
Whether he's buying his groceries at the Green Acres Road, his steaks at Longmeats
Market, or his gardening supplies at Down to Earth, the residents of this small town
always keep their eyes peeled for their most famous and beloved resident.
Sam does have plans to one day move to this property full time, but he hasn't gone around
to doing so quite yet.
Probably because he and Catherine still own another fabulous home in Malibu, California.
Sam Elliott's other pasture is a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom dwelling he and Catherine bought
in the early 80's.
First built in 1983, this 3,000 square foot family home is constructed largely out of
wood, and boasts two massive stone pillars that frame his front door, much like the concrete
ones do back in Oregon, only on a much larger scale.
On the inside, this place is laid out like a cabin with a cozy and homey vibe that includes
amenities like a massive stone fireplace, as well as an open concept kitchen with wood
finishing, stainless steel appliances, and even some inventive saddle stirrup bench seating.
There are also dark wood accents located throughout the residence along with vaulted wood ceilings
and a living room that looks like it would be more like a hunters lodge down in Texas
than a place to kick your feet up in the middle of Malibu.
Sam and Catherine almost wound up losing their long time home of nearly 40 years back in
2018 when a forest fire swept through the area and set the property alight.
Thankfully with the help of some local firefighters, the house was saved and Sam even pitched in
He explained to Entertainment Weekly
We stayed and poured the water on and watched the guy next door burn to the ground.
And then the floods came, or the rains came, and the shit came on the highways.
And while I know that Sam has played an endless number of cowboy roles over the years, pitching
in to save his own land might very well be the closest that he's ever been to actually
becoming one.
