Today I'm starting pretty early so I'll try to make the most of everything that's left of the city
Obviously I'm not going to cover it because Buenos Aires is huge
But anyway I'll try to go to quite characteristic places then I'll have some days free after returning from certain points of the country which I'll mention later
But anyway I left the hotel today which by the way I don't know if I mentioned it but the hotel where I stayed the Meliá
It is the place where Evita Perón lived for two years
Evita Perón also known as Eva Perón is a very important woman for the country for Argentina
because in the 40s and 50s she was like a revolutionary in that she from her fairly comfortable position
He strongly defended workers' rights and improved the possibility that women here would have many more rights
At the time of voting etc So he is a very important person for this country
And now I'm here in the square a square called the United Nations Plaza which has a very famous sculpture the flower
This flower here was placed by a sculptor and the main feature of this flower besides being an icon of the city because of its appearance
It's quite beautiful it's a six-petaled metal flower and it has the characteristic of being a moving flower
It's a flower that opens at dawn and closes at dusk like a real flower
As I've told you Buenos Aires is a huge city in fact I've been staying in an area called Recoleta
It is near Palermo and is somewhat like one of the best areas to stay
It's an area I won't say they're very new but it's true that those who were once rich
From when the Spaniards were here they lived more in another area that is the one I am now going to direct you to which is the San Telmo area
and later some time after due to issues that I will discuss later they came to the Recoleta area giving it much more importance
So increasing the purchasing power of the area
Then I will walk there to the Boca area San Telmo which will take a little while maybe about two hours of walking
But anyway I love walking
The only downside is that there's a lot of humidity in Buenos Aires and on top of that it doesn't actually rain but still it's very humid
By the way to get around here in Buenos Aires I usually use Uber when possible
But here it is in a pretty strange state because according to what Gure Venturas has told me I thank here from Instagram
He told me that according to Uber according to the company everything is in order but according to the government it's an illegal app
Then it exists but for me for example it gives an error when I try to request a car it gives an error
So far I've been taking a taxi well just from the airport to the hotel the rest I've been walking
But anyway just so you know it might have changed by the time you come but right now as of today in 2018 it's like this
I'm arriving at the Boca area but there's the Bombonera Boca's stadium
It's one of the most lively places in the city when there's a game we go and the place goes crazy
For example a few days ago there was the match the first leg of the Copa Libertadores final between Boca and River
When you see this it will have already passed maybe a year or so and you will know how it turned out
And in fact right now the Copa Libertadores will probably be such that when you see it the final will be a single match
This is the last year with a double match the match yesterday ended in a 2-2 draw between Boca and River at La Bombonera
And the return match is in a week at River's home ground
Here at the stadium I think you can take tours of the inside of the stadium
I'm not going in because I've already told you I like soccer but I'm not really a fan there
And here are also some sculptures in front of one of these souvenir shops in Boca obviously everything
And here are known players well historic ones like Tevez for Boca Messi from Argentina obviously
Then there are also Martín Palermo and Maradona sitting around of course
The Boca area is very well known not only because it is home to the Bombonera Boca's stadium
It's because all the buildings here are so colorful look like the ones I show you back here
They have so many colors so much life like here with these paintings and honestly I think it's really cool
Here for a walk depending on when you come and the time there's usually a market
Now I'm in a small square where they are setting up little stalls and there's a lot of handicrafts and things like that
So the truth is it's definitely worth taking a little tour around here
Yes I recommend you come during the day at night it's not one of the safer areas neither this one nor San Telmo now
The area is touristy in itself so don't expect to find anything authentic here just a purely local life
because it's full of restaurants bars souvenir stands all oriented towards tourism
But even so if you have the time it's really worth it just for the colors I think everything is super beautiful
Incredible I'm loving this area of Boca so much you know wherever you look it's all colors
So it's very different normally you don't move through places with so much color and doing it really brightens things up a lot
Here they can also express their artistic side very freely
So it's full of graffiti advocating for your main hobbies
For example here are some with Maradona here are also some with activists detainees and so on
Then I don't know it seems really beautiful a very nice way to express your feelings through this kind of art
You can also find a market here in the San Telmo area I think it's the San Telmo market
Here inside like a warehouse and it's very good because it's full of little food stalls
There is also antique shop there is a bit of everything even clothes so it's worth taking a look
I have just arrived at Puerto Madero which is the most modern area it can be considered part of Buenos Aires
Not because it's the last area that was built
It's only because it's the area where people have started to inhabit to be inhabited much more recently
And this is because it was once used as a port and in the end people from Buenos Aires are called porteños because it is a port of Buenos Aires
And the point is that all of this is a port that was built by taking land from the sea
And there came a time when the capacity of the channel that was created could no longer accommodate the size of the ships that were beginning to be built
Much more modern much larger so a new much larger port had to be built
And so this fell out of use and to this day they have reinvented it in such a way that housing and businesses were created around it
And that makes it one of the most expensive areas right now all these houses around here are much more expensive
There's a building that's under construction around there so it's an area that's practically here by the canal
And on the other side it would reach the Silver Sea the River of the Silver Sea
I've already left the Café Tortoni to watch the tango the truth is it was very very good
It's quite touristy because everyone in the audience is a tourist we're all foreigners
en that takes away a bit from the essence I would have preferred a place where locals go to see tango
But anyway the truth is that Café Tortoni is great it's not too expensive to see the tango it only lasts less than an hour
It's not very long so okay it's fine honestly it's worth coming
I haven't been caught in a line but it's supposed to always be a line to get in even if it's just to have a coffee
but anyway I'm going back to my hotel to get my things to get my backpacks
I'm going to the airport I have a flight to Ushuaia to the south at 4 in the morning
Then it's not worth me booking a hotel because I would have had to check out around 2 in the morning
Then it's not worth it so nothing I'll go to the airport I'll kill time there and that's it
I'm used to this trip I have almost luxury nights or rooms and then nights at the airport
I'm mixing a bit of everything and I've messed it up again meaning I'm really messing things up on this trip
I'm not just talking about thefts or missing flights and such but for example now I've had to go withdraw money from the ATM
To pay the tango which can only be paid in cash and I don't know how I left my card in the ATM
So I just came with two cards one is my bank card and the other is the American Express which is a credit card
The problem is that with the American Express card I can't withdraw cash and many places don't accept American Express
Then I have 10 days of travel left more than 10 days and I have to deal with American Express
They accept me on the sites and the cash which isn't much can then be a problem
I don't know how I'm going to handle it if I have to pay for more things anyway I won't tell you my problems but the thing is I just can't stop messing up
