Are dark circles a serious health problem? Not exactly, but many people find that dark circles under their eyes make them look tired, older, or unhealthy.
There are a number of methods - both natural and doctor-prescribed - that people use to remove or reduce the appearance of dark circles. Although not all of these treatments are permanent, they will help lessen the look of dark circles if maintained and used consistently.
One of the simple effective ways you can do every day is massage. In this video, Danielle Collins - The World's Leading Face Yoga Expert and bestselling author will share with you natural and effective techniques to help you look and feel the best version of yourself with some simple massage techniques.
Hi and a warm welcome back to my channel. My name is Danielle Collins and today I'm going to be
showing you a little routine that you can use if you get dark circles under the eyes.
Now dark circles can be genetic, they can be related to allergies, they can be related to
intolerances, perhaps they can be related to lack of sleep or a lot of stress, so lots of reasons
why we can get dark circles and sometimes they can be quite hard to eliminate. But what I'm going
to show you is a few techniques you can do which really boost the circulation, help to improve the
lymphatic drainage around the eye area. So whatever the reason you get those dark circles, these
techniques should at least help to reduce but hopefully if you do them regularly they will
eliminate them. I've seen lots and lots of people use these techniques and completely eradicate
their dark circles under the eyes and what I really recommend is after this you make sure
you drink a big glass of water, it's just going to help with that detoxification process.
And another top tip is make sure you don't drag the delicate area around the eyes in day-to-day
life, this can really aggravate those dark circles. So you want to make sure you've got super clean
hands, nice long spine, shoulders relaxed and we're going to start by just taking our index
finger, just come under the eyes and work all the way around, so nice and gently. Now if you find
you're quite heavy-handed here or you feel as though you're dragging the skin, you may want to
grab a mirror and actually see if you're dragging the skin. I would change that just to that ring
finger instead, we tend to be a little bit gentler when we use that one and really work with the
breath here, so breathe in through the nose and breathe out through the nose as you do it. So this
is really aiding with that lymphatic drainage, so we're helping to remove those toxins, giving that
lymphatic system a little helping hand, it really responds well to massage and we can really help to
drain any lymph. And then just coming to this little acupressure point here, just holding there,
take a deep breath in and a deep breath out and then as we're doing acupressure, we're just going
to move down to a little acupressure point here. This one is great for the cheek area, it's very
good for circulation around the cheeks, however this one is very renowned, particularly in Ayurveda,
for being good for reducing dark circles under the eyes, it just helps to release any stagnant energy,
just help that prana flow a little bit more effectively, so even though we're not directly
working on the eyes here, this all makes a big difference. Then just take that same index finger,
both hands now and just working all the way around the eyes, nice and gently here,
use your breath, inhale through the nose, exhale through the nose and we're using quite light touch
here, we don't want to go too heavy-handed again, so start super gentle, you can build up a little
bit but remember gentle is still helping to boost the circulation, really bringing all the fresh
blood, fresh nutrients and oxygen right up to the skin surface and this is really going to help to
feed the skin, really reduce the appearance of those dark circles. So, just going around a couple more
times there and then just bring your hands down, so doing both those techniques of the massage around
and the tapping every day and both your acupressure points every day and remember to drink your water
and be really delicate with this area, particularly when removing eye makeup.
