Hi guys, I'm Brian Sacawa, you're watching He Spoke Style,
and today, a last minute holiday gift guide.
Before we start, links to everything I mention
in this video will be down below in the description.
So, jumping right in with the first gift idea,
and those are festive socks.
If you know me and or you've followed He Spoke Style,
you know that I am not at all a funky sock person.
I do make an exception though around the holidays,
and I think a few pairs of festive socks
are an absolute must have.
I really like the options that they have at Brooks Brothers.
There is a pair with snowmen and Christmas trees
that I like in both red and like a dark green.
It's kind of subtle, but festive at the same time.
There's also a pair with reindeer that I also like,
and fair isle, which is a great winter pattern.
Next up, books.
Now, I just did a video on 15 must have men's style books,
which is linked to right up there in the corner.
Be sure to check that out if you haven't already.
I will mention a handful right here though
that I think would make absolutely fantastic gifts.
First, Dressing the Man by Alan Flusser.
If a guy's gonna have just one book on men's style,
this is the book to have.
Next, a new book by Jamie Ferguson.
It's called This Guy.
It's a collection of photographs that he's taken
of various people over the past few years,
and not only are they fantastic photographs,
but the book is a great source of style inspiration.
Next, another book that just came out by Alan Flusser,
which is about Ralph Lauren,
called Ralph Lauren in His Own Fashion.
Walks you through the entire 50 year career
of arguably one of the most influential
American fashion designers and cultural forces.
Finally, a different kind of book,
the Waldorf Astoria Bar Book.
Tons of cocktail books out there these days,
but I love this one because it's coming
from a really old school institution.
The recipes are classic, they're simple,
and they're some of my favorite
in any of the cocktail books that I've ever owned.
Next, we have a brown leather notebook
by La Compagnie du Craft.
This is one that we carry in the HSS shop.
It's my favorite notebook.
Like a lot of high quality leather goods,
the cover gets better with age.
Also, one of the best things about this notebook
is that it's refillable.
You can get it with either brown paper or white paper.
One of the most popular items we have in the shop.
If you're interested at all,
I would definitely recommend placing an order sooner
rather than later.
It's honestly been difficult to keep in stock.
Next up is a custom coat hook from Dapper Woodworks.
This retails for $30.
You can choose the type of wood.
There are 11 different options,
and you can also choose from seven different types
of hardware to complement whatever else
you have in your home.
Justin from Dapper Woodworks is a super nice guy
and makes some really, really great stuff.
In addition to the coat hook,
a couple other products of his that I really love
and have myself are the tie rack with a shelf,
as well as the pocket square organizer,
which I also have with a shelf.
Next we have the Diptyque Feu de Bois candle.
Now let me just read you the description of it
from their website because I think it really
sort of evokes the way it smells.
So here we go.
Winter time.
In the hearth, a fire roars,
throwing out its light and casting shadows.
The wood crackles as flames slowly consume the logs,
releasing their dense, smoky scent.
This candle really smells like that.
It smells like burnt wood in an open fireplace.
It's really a great scent for your man room
this time of year.
$65 is a lot for a candle.
This is a luxury brand, but you know, as a gift,
I think it's a really nice option.
Moving on to a subscription to The Rake Magazine.
Now The Rake styles itself as the modern voice
of classical elegance.
It is a very aspirational look at men's style,
but one of the most beautifully produced
and beautifully written men's style
and lifestyle magazines out there.
One year subscription is $39.
Two years is $65.
Either option is an absolute steal
for the quality of content that you are getting.
Next is a really stylish and elegant whiskey decanter set.
This is actually the one that we keep
on the bar cart in the studio.
It's not that expensive at all.
It's $65.
Now with it, you get a decanter along with four glasses.
With the link we have down there in the description,
you are able to choose between a square pattern on the glass
or one that's more of a diamond cut,
whatever suits the style of the person you're giving it to.
And bonus is that it comes in a really nice gift-ready box.
Next up is a staple item that every guy needs to have,
which is a white silk pocket square.
This is not any white silk pocket square though.
This is one from Charvet.
Again, I think gift-giving time is a great opportunity
to give someone something
that they might not normally buy for themselves
and to give them a truly beautiful example
of a very simple item
that they will get a lot of use out of.
There's nothing like a Charvet pocket square.
The silk is exquisite.
And this is really like that small piece of everyday luxury
that can really make someone feel special all the time.
All right, up next is another item
that definitely has that classic,
old-school, everyday luxury vibe to it.
And that is the Musco Real Classic Scent Aftershave.
I love to give gifts that people will actually use,
especially if it's on a daily basis.
You know, I feel like if you can add something
a little special to their daily lives,
I think that's a really nice gesture.
And if you know that someone shaves every day,
this aftershave is a really great choice.
Next is this tartan plaid tie,
which is from a collaboration we did
with Seward and Stern from London
when we first launched the HSS shop.
It's the perfect holiday tie, great colors.
It's 100% woven silk,
though it feels a little bit more like wool.
It's not too thick.
It knots very well and always gets lots of compliments.
If you're going to a holiday party,
it's always nice to bring a gift,
and why not have it be something that everyone can enjoy,
like a nice bottle of scotch?
For this, I'm going to recommend
two of my all-time favorites.
We've got them on the bar cart here in the studio,
and those are Ardbeg Korivreken and Lagavulin 16.
Both very classic single malts,
huge flavor, lots of smoke, very peaty.
A scotch like this is kind of like flattery, you know?
A little goes a long way.
Next is kind of a complimentary item to the scotch,
and that is a pewter flask by the English Pewter Company.
This is actually the item that kind of sparked the idea
for the HSS shop,
and in a world of four, six, and eight-ounce flasks,
we wanted to have something that we said
could hold the perfect pour that would be discreet
and also kind of classically elegant at the same time.
So it's a two-ounce flask.
It fits perfectly in the hand, in a briefcase.
It's meant to be, like I said,
discreet and elegant in a material pewter
that is one of the nicest you can have for a flask.
Next, we have a little bit of everyday practical luxury,
and at around $86, I would say reasonably affordable,
and that is this dresser valet box.
It is by Hounds Bay, available on Amazon.
It's an organizer with lots of different trays,
catch-all tray, a place for your phone,
an accessory drawer for watches, cufflinks, tie bars.
I actually have this myself.
It's up in my closet, and it's really, really nice.
Again, another gift that's practical
and that someone would use actually every single day.
Next up are pajamas.
You know, this time of year, people have time off from work,
and honestly, nothing feels better
than lounging around the house
and relaxing in a nice pair of pajamas.
I'm including two options here.
The first is a set of flannel pajamas by Uniqlo,
an insane price at just under $20
for the quality that you get,
and then for more of a luxury option,
I'm going to recommend a set from Derrick Rose of London.
This brushed cotton set will run you about $260.
Finally, finishing off with one last luxury item,
and that is a pair of Stubbs & Wooten velvet slippers.
They have lots of different options.
Some of them are very cheeky.
Some are more conservative,
but what I love about Stubbs & Wooten
is that they have so many options
that you can literally find something
that matches the personality of anyone
that you are giving them as a gift to.
A few of my favorites are the scotch slippers,
the end, and of course, because of Coco,
the German shepherds.
So if you're interested,
you can actually use code HESPOKESTYLE,
all one word, to save 20% on any pair that you order.
So that wraps it up.
No pun intended.
