Hi everyone! Welcome back to another episode of Honeysuckle Catering.
Today we're going to continue to make Korean food and I'm going to be making
japchae. Japchae is a clear glass noodle dish with an abundance of vegetables
and beef seasoned with soy sauce and sesame oil. It's healthy,
delicious, and so simple to make. Let's get started!
You're going to need a half pound of Korean sweet potato noodles,
also called dangman, a quarter cup of sugar,
a third cup of soy sauce, a tablespoon of sesame oil,
three cloves of minced garlic, a whole carrot thinly sliced into matchsticks,
half of a red bell pepper thinly sliced, three stalks of green onions chopped into
about three inches long, half of a yellow onion chopped lengthwise,
a half cup of shiitake mushroom sliced, half a pound of bulgogi,
and you can see how to cook that here, and then one bunch of spinach.
In a small bowl, combine your soy sauce, sugar, and sesame oil. Mix and set aside.
Now take a medium saucepan, fill it up with water,
and heat it up on medium-high heat until it boils.
Once it boils, add in your spinach and blanch it for about a minute and then quickly drain it.
Squeeze out the excess water and set it aside.
In another large pot, heat up the water until it boils,
and add in your half a pound of noodles and cook for about three to five minutes until it's soft.
Drain it and set aside.
Now to combine the ingredients together,
take a large skillet and heat it up with about a tablespoon of oil.
First, dump in your minced garlic and cook it until it's fragrant for about one to two minutes.
Now add in all of your sliced vegetables, the onions, mushrooms, carrots, and bell peppers.
Now cook it for another three minutes until the vegetables start to soften.
Next, add in your blanched spinach and noodles, stir it,
and then add your soy sauce and sesame oil mixture to coat it.
Finally, add in your bulgogi, stir fry for another minute, and then you're done.
Take it off the heat and it's ready to be served.
There you have it, hot and steamy japchae.
It looks so good and it smells even better.
I wish you can smell it.
Let's give it a try.
Thank you so much for watching another episode of Honeysuckle Catering.
