I am actually on Twitter as well but I never broadcast that because I've got like 12 followers,
valued followers by the way, but 12, so you can come over on Twitter as well and follow me over
there if you feel like it. Right okay, Storm Arwen, Storm Arwen, we need to talk about Storm Arwen,
it hit I think most of the UK, I don't think we got it that bad in London actually, I can't see
any damage in anyone's plots, I've been hit a little bit, I'll show you the damage that the
it's all about me. Absolute chaos as you can see, absolute chaos, not, it's fine, this is a cover
that I had on for the broad beans which has just blown off, just been brutally blown off, over here
we've got the brussels sprouts, obviously the cover's just been brutally blown off by the storm,
Harry's hanging on, he's hanging on, well done Harry, you hang in there mate, all the leaves
that I mulched the onion bed has just been blown away, carnage, absolute carnage, and then down
here my other brassicas have been blown off, all been flattened, all been flattened, I don't know
why they're getting flattened, it must have been the wind I'm guessing, but yeah, carnage, absolute
carnage to the plot. No I am joking, obviously everything really did survive, it's fine, there's
not very much to blow away to be honest because the archway is just like dug in the ground, I've
got a few new things, so my plot neighbour was getting rid of some stuff and he very kindly let
me have it, which is amazing, I've got this little picket fence here which I thought might be quite
nice just to frame the flower border, I haven't really decided what to do with it, I just poked
these poles into the ground and then tied it to it and it seems to have stood up pretty well,
I thought that just might be a nice little barrier for the dahlias to grow up, I don't know what to
do with these yet, I haven't decided, these are just little cut-offs, so you can see here that
he's made a lovely fence and he kindly gave me the cut-offs, which I can do something with,
you know, wood's wood, it's always good to have wood, and then the front of the plot,
so I do love a good hand-me-down, I really do, he's let me have his old gate which does need a
bit of work doing to it, my husband's going to help me with it, very cute little picket fence
gate, I did try, I did try guys, I just pushed a bit of wood into the ground but it did nothing
to the gate, the gate's very heavy so I'm gonna have to let my husband do that, and then I've got
a couple more of these planters, obviously one's fallen down, absolute carnage, carnage, what I was
thinking with these things is having them along this fence here, because this fence is a little
bit difficult to see because it's just wire, I don't want people tripping over it or anything,
like I don't want to be sued for like, you know, breaking someone's leg or something,
I don't know if that can happen but it might, so I thought if I put these planters here,
it makes the fence more obvious and look, it's the perfect size just to put some pots in,
with some little herbs or flowers in or something, it'd just save me some effort,
someone might be like, oh you can just put a bottom on it and drill holes and stuff,
but I'm not very good at that sort of stuff and this, it holds pots perfectly,
so I thought what the heck, let's just do that, sometimes let's just make life easy for ourselves,
you know, right, brussel sprouts have been uncovered, I'm a little bit worried that
birdies have had them all, bloody birds, the sprouts all look intact don't they, they look
all right, yeah they're growing really nicely now, I can't believe it, I can't believe I've
got sprouts, oh stop, right, I'm going to recover it, right, well damage isn't too bad, now good
news is the paint that I wanted has arrived, bad news is I've ordered the wrong size,
I thought it'd be massive, I thought a litre was massive, it turns out a litre is the small one
and you need the 2.5 litres for the massive one, or even the 5 litres, I thought one litre was
plenty, it's cupranol sweet pea, I really like this shade and this is the shade I've got on my
shed, so it looks like this when it's painted on wood and I quite like it, I think it's quite sweet,
so what do I want to paint, I want to paint this table, I think it needs protection,
but I might not do that today, what I might do today is the planters and the gate, here we go,
oh look at that, beautiful, beautiful, right so I've painted one side of that planter,
which has taken me about an hour, because it's blue it needs like 4 coats of paint,
that's definitely not enough paint, and it looks like that, it looks like that basically,
which is alright I think, and then I've also done half the gate as well, which is looking
really pretty, it matches my shed, oh I love it, so I think that's going to look really good with
the two planters at the front, I haven't even started on that one yet, it's taking me ages,
which is a good time of year to do painting though, because there's not very much growing
stuff to do as such, so it is nice to just get on with the painting, but oh it's cold and it's
chilly and I really want to go home and have a cup of tea, but I also want to like film a good
vlog, so it's like a catch-22 sort of thing, and I know it's going to rain, so what I'm going to do
is put my headphones on now and just get on with it and just do a bit more painting, yeah and just
get on with that and then I'll catch up with you after basically, right welcome back, welcome back,
oh Richard Madley's back, oh you don't need to watch the jungle to see Richard Madley,
I'm here in my shed, welcome back, welcome back, if you don't know who Richard Madley is,
he's just a presenter here in the UK, he is hilarious, he's my favourite TV presenter of
all time, but he is a little bit chaotic, a bit like I am, and he always says welcome back,
welcome back, welcome back, right anyway, I should have come here yesterday because it was really
sunny and today it's quite rainy and chilly and horrible, I did manage to paint some of my
gate yesterday, but that's about it really, I need to figure out how to put the bloody
gate onto the actual plot, which I don't know how to do, and also I need to figure out how to
open the front of this drill thing to put a drill part in it, I can't for the life of me,
figure out how to like open this bit so I can put like a drill thing in it, do you know what I mean,
it won't like do it, I thought you're just supposed to turn it and it opens,
I've got the instructions here somewhere, you shouldn't trust me with power tools is what I keep
saying, it's just not right, oh god, where's the drill instructions, no that's a chainsaw,
I don't have any instructions for it, how not good that is, they're laughing at me again,
birds always laugh at me here, it won't open, how do you open,
how do you open it, so I can't use that, so what I've got instead is this, I don't think
this is gonna do anything, oh so old and rusty, I don't know how to bleed and get them off,
I wanted to use my drill but I don't even think that'll work, look at them, they're so rusty
that my little tiny, where's my screwdriver gone, oh there it is, my little tiny screwdriver
won't do nothing to it, I'm gonna have to yank it off aren't I,
no I just can't get the bloody, I just can't get the metal thing off the gate,
I don't know what it's called, the swingy bit, these things that make it swing, because this
piece of wood isn't very long, so if I buried that in the ground the gate would just fall over,
so what I want to do is take it off here, take it off here and put it onto a new piece of wood
which is really buried into the ground but I can't bleed and get it off, I don't even know
how you would go about getting it, like I don't even know how I would do it, like I just have no
idea, oh no idea at all, so I'm gonna have to leave this job to my husband unfortunately, I'd love to
do it myself but I can't, but I will show you because I did paint it, so I don't know if that
counts as DIY, probably, in my book it does, I painted one side of it pink, I like it pink,
I think it's nice, so that's good, that is painted, the birds are laughing at me again,
I'll show you my little planters because I'm really really proud of these, I think they've
worked out really well, I just need to stake something in to keep them upright, I really
really like them, one either side like that and then just put some pots in like I said and just
have some strawberries or something, I don't know, something, I think it's really nice and I have my
little gate in the middle like that, I hope that fits there actually, that looks a lot bigger than
that gap doesn't it, anyway I will come to that another day, but yeah my gate there, maybe a
archway, yeah it's looking really good, what do you think Harry, yeah good, thank you for all the
seed storage solutions, I think I'm going to use a chocolate box from Christmas and store my seeds
in that, I think that's really really resourceful, really good idea, so thank you for all your
suggestions, I had CD cases and ring binders and all sorts of ideas, brilliant, I knew I could rely
on you for an array of ideas, I think the sweet box is easiest because we've got loads already at
home ready for Christmas, so that's just, just whack them in that and a lot of people are suggesting
that that table out there would be really good as a potting table, no sorry, yeah I think you're
right, I'd like it to go in a polytunnel, however I'm wondering if it fits in my shed along there
and if it does, we're in, I can't seem to find my tape measure, so I'm going to do, I can't seem to
find any string either, falling apart, I'm going to use my bunting to measure the width across,
taking into account the little knobbly bits in the shed, so that is about, I'm not doing it
straight, helps to do it straight, about there, then we'll just go measure the table, it's not gonna,
it's not gonna fit it, oh hang on a minute, hang about, you're rubbish,
only fits, right we're doing it, we're doing it, how am I gonna get the table in when it's made up,
I'm gonna have to unmake it, unbelievable, we have a serious, serious, serious situation here guys,
um and it's not this mess, which in itself is an absolute nightmare, it's this little bugger down
here, I really don't want to get too close because I'm so scared of him, I know he's more scared of
me, I know, I know, you can just say it to me a hundred times, I won't listen, because I'm scared
of him, I'm scared of you, can you just leave my shed please, I don't know what to do, oh I just
don't know why it's in my shed and I just don't know how to get it out, so I'm gonna push, I'm
gonna sort of try and wiggle it out, what I mean by wiggle it is poke it out, please don't have a go
at me for this, I'm so terrified, I just don't know what to do, I've got to get all this stuff in
before it rains and, oh he's moving, oh it's moving, oh he's coming towards me guys, for god's sake,
so ridiculous, he looks so small, like just, he's not though, he's freaking massive, what am I saying,
oh he doesn't know where to go, you're a clever spider, you're a clever spider, oh god where did
he go, where did he go, where did he go, where did he go, has he gone out my shed, oh god he's gone
out my shed I think, I think there's a gap there, oh god please, please, he says he's left my shed,
oh my god, freaking, I'm freaking shaking, I'm shaking from head to toe, I don't know what to do,
you can laugh at me and stuff, you can laugh all you want, but this is a phobia
and it's ruining my shed life, so crap, it's gonna rain any second, I've got all my stuff out here
and I've got to sort the shed out, put the table down, put the table back up again, what was I
thinking, right I've just got to get on with it now, I've got to just grow a pair, oh he's come back in,
can you believe it, oh god why's he come back in, why's he come back in,
why's he come back in, thinks it's his home, it's not your home, get out, get out, get out, get out,
get out, get out of here, oh my god, I've never been so scared in my life, I've never been so scared
in my life, I don't know what to do, he keeps coming back in, I just saw his little leg like
come through the bloody wood, bloody hate this, gotta try and get a table in now, this don't fit,
I'm gonna go home and drink an entire bottle of vodka, pass out on the sofa for the rest of the
day, oh god, I'm not cut out to have an allotment, I've decided I'm not cut out for this, right guys
I think we just missed the rain, look at that rain cloud over there, it's just coming over us now,
I think we've just missed it and I think we should be really blooming proud of ourselves
because we've actually managed to sort the shed out a little bit and I'm just going to give you
a tiny bit of a tour to end the vlog with, so now when you come in there's a potting table,
I think that's what you call it, a potting table or a desk area or just generally more room here to
mosey about in and stuff, I'm really really proud of it, I've taken the shelves apart and just had
the little two here on top of the table, got quite a lot of workspace for lots of potting up and then
under here I've just whacked everything in but what I'm going to do is sort out this as like an
organised space so I can actually get to stuff, I've also created another one of these things
behind me here, I need to go home and get a better screwdriver for it though but it will basically,
tools will hang just so they're just not quite on the ground along there and I can grab them
quite easily there and then this one will be for coats and obviously a random saw and a pair of
scissors and then this one here is going to go up up there somewhere to hang stuff from and then
I've got my little washing lines as well so all needs a little bit of a tidy up and a little bit
of a spring clean and some more organisation and stuff but I'm really really pleased with it,
I'm so glad that I got round to doing my shed and I fought the spiders to do it as well so I'm
pretty proud of myself today, I hope you enjoyed the vlog, if you did check out my other videos
and subscribe to my channel and let me know if you're doing anything with your shed, hopefully
I'll have some more shed updates for you soon and thanks for watching everyone, I'll see you next
week, bye!
