Hey guys, what's going on? It's me again. I'm back. I'm so excited. I haven't been out of Phoenix for
like the longest time. It's been like three months. Thank God I'm out. I'm finally out and
I'm super excited because today I'm going to hike Humphreys Peak. It is the tallest peak here in
Arizona. We're going to take a hike and we're going to be at 12,600 and some feet and it's
so come along with us. This is going to be really, really, really exciting.
I'm going to introduce you to my friends that are hiking with me today. So let's go meet them.
I don't know if you guys remember my friend Berito.
It's family friendly. No cherry green pops today. What are you doing there?
Preparing my sticks. Awesome. Are you excited? Yeah. Tell us how you feel about
hiking the tallest mountain in Arizona. Being the shortest in the group is gonna be fun.
Yes. He's only like 4'9". So it's gonna be
kidding. Okay.
Perfect.
Technical difficulties with Berito's sticks.
Here's the first hiccup of the day. I haven't even started and my friend Bero,
her little hiking sticks didn't want to work out for her. She's in really good shape. She's gonna
be just fine. If not, I can give her one of mine.
So it's 8.44am and I think it's gonna be about, I'm guessing about six hours of hiking,
but that's just a guess to me. Hopefully we'll do it within six hours. We'll see how it goes.
So we're about to get started. We're just waiting for Bero and we'll keep going.
We are the blue dot. Follow along. Such a beautiful day guys. Perfect day to do a
10.5 mile hike and we're going to gain another 300, no not 300,
3,300 feet of elevation in the next few hours. Once we make it to the top, like I mentioned
before, we will be at the highest point, the highest peak in Arizona, 12,600 something,
I think 33, something like that. It's gonna be pretty epic. The views are gonna be pretty amazing,
so super excited for this hike.
This first section of the hike is pretty easy. Moving along pretty quickly,
remember to follow the blue dots.
So far 1.6 miles in and we are at about 10,000 feet of elevation and I'm starting to feel it.
My little heart is pumping really really fast, so yeah.
Yeah, but we're feeling good. Leo, I don't know where he's at.
He's the one that is gonna get here first. Get there first.
The landscape is changing a little bit. A little more rocky up here.
I think this is where we're going to take a break. What do you guys think? Time for a break?
I'm hungry. I want a snack.
Okay, let's eat something. We are two and a half miles into the hike. We are almost halfway to the
top and we are gonna take a little break. We are about 10,500 feet of elevation and I'm starting
to feel it a little bit. Not too bad, but I really need a snack, so we're gonna eat something,
drink something and keep going. Did you like your photos? Yeah? Are you posting them on Facebook now?
No, it is. You want people to follow you on Instagram?
All right, never mind then.
Well, I'm feeling a lot better. I honestly felt like I really needed a snack,
but now I'm ready to keep going. Halfway there.
A little less than two hours. Pretty good. Oh, and I'm not using my hiking sticks this time.
I was a gentleman and let my friend have them.
So, I'm starting to feel like it's hard to breathe. It's weird because the last time I
came this happened a little farther up, so I'm a little concerned. Why am I feeling like this today?
But I still feel good. We take it easy. We stop. We take deep breaths and then...
Yeah, it's feeling like I can't breathe already. It's only halfway there.
I'm a little nervous now. Leo's taking the backpack from me because I'm feeling a little
and for some reason he's feeling very strong.
How do you feel? It's his first time and he's the one feeling the best. What the heck?
We'll see you up there if we make it.
I'm feeling a little nervous because the last time I came
I didn't feel like this until I was farther up there, so I don't know why
this time I'm having a hard time already. I think it's too soon to be feeling like this.
Who knows? But here we go. Not having the backpack is really helping me. I feel a little better.
No, it's not heavy. It's just clothes, but I still feel... I don't know. I feel better.
Gorgeous. Feeling good? Let's do this!
And we are making our way to the saddle. At this point we're going to get into the fine stretch.
No more trees. It's going to be all clear. It's going to get very windy, so
excuse me if my footage is a little weird after this. It's not going to be the best quality,
but the views are going to be pretty amazing, so stick around. We're moving into the final stretch
and then we'll be making it to the top. Alright, so next I'm going to layer a little bit because
it's super windy and it's going to get super cold up there, so I need to be ready for this.
We're getting so cozy, guys. I'm feeling super good. We are almost there.
We're doing really good, guys. Now we're able to breathe. Kind of weird, but it got easier so fast.
Leo and Ana are... I can't even talk, you guys. I'm sorry. Leo and Ana are almost to the top.
They're a little ahead of us. They're doing really good. I'm really proud of Leo because
it's his first time and he's doing really, really, really, really good. I'm super happy for him,
but we're almost there. I know for a fact we're going to make it, so I'm super happy and excited.
It was really tough, like in the middle, like halfway here, and this is the part where it
usually gets really hard, but for some reason it's not hard. It's like... I mean, it's not easy either,
but it's better than what we expected, so yeah, I'm super happy.
Yeah, we're almost there.
All right, guys. We're coming out of the woods here shortly. It's almost 7 p.m.
I was hoping for a 6-mile hike, but it's almost 11... What did I say? Wait. I was hoping for a 6-hour
hike and it's almost gonna be 11-hour hike. It was more difficult than the first time I came.
I need to like think about what was different about it that made it more challenging, but
it kicked my butt. So yeah, we're coming out of here, so in a little bit I'm gonna go around and
ask everybody to give you guys some their opinion on this hike. Maybe you guys can get
some best bets if you want to take this hike, and then we'll wrap it up for today.
Yes, we made it! Look, snowballs right there.
Water, water, water. H2O.
Yeah, sure.
Good job, you guys.
You guys did really, really good.
My advice to you if you want to come and take this hike, bring an oxygen tank because you're
gonna need it after the first two miles, two and a half miles. You might need an oxygen tank, so
bring that. Other than that, just be in good shape, have a good dinner the night before,
not too much, not too heavy, and just hike enough like prior to this one. Like you know,
take shorter hikes just so you can build the stamina. Okay, I think I'm talking too much.
So, thank you so much for joining our adventure. Thank you so much for watching.
And I want to send a shout out to a person that I met at Ikea the other day. It was super
exciting. Overlander, thank you for saying hi and leaving me a comment. And yeah, nice meeting you.
So, thank you so much for watching. We're gonna go eat. So, see you guys next time.
