Are you ready to go? Yeah, we're gonna really go sailing today.
Where does this attach to? Say sailing! Ready? How's our depth?
For 7.3 so we're good. Okay. So we are turning into the wind and Jason will raise the mainsail.
So we're sailing along, well motoring along, and I could see something out to the side
but I didn't know what it was so we came a little closer to take a look
and we're not quite sure what it is but it's definitely abandoned. It looks fairly homemade.
Check it out. U.S. Coast Guard. U.S. Coast Guard. U.S. Coast Guard. This is sailing vessel reset.
Sailing vessel reset.
She said on 16 go ahead. Yeah, just tell her the basics.
I found a floating vessel that's here and I have the GPS coordinates. Over.
Trouble receiving you Coast Guard. Please repeat. Over.
What's the story with that over there you think? We think it's a Cuban raft, a migrant raft.
It looks abandoned now but the Coast Guard say that they've already been to the raft.
So we're just doing a drive-by here just to check it out. Here it is right here guys.
Pretty wild to think that they could build that and then get it all the way up here
from wherever. It's just barely floating still. Amazing. Well we're not doing much sailing today
considering we have all of about four knots of wind. Luckily we also have two engines so we're
motorboating today. Motoring along making our way towards Fort Lauderdale. The good news is the swell
period is far apart so it's really calm seas out here. It's almost like driving down any road in
the RV. Probably better than most California roads. I can say yes to that. There's Kent up there.
Kent's really fit yeah but hey we keep it out there maybe we'll get lucky. I definitely don't
have the right rod and reel for this speed or any sort of giant fish that we might catch but hey
why not. I think Singa's gonna be all right. Order up. Here you go Kent. It's on dish duty. Dish duty.
Look at all these dishes she made. Making your dinner. Somebody's got to do dishes and not Nikki.
Fish on she said. Yeah we're also hooksoming on the Lauderdale. She got a weed and it's not a
square grouper. Oh well. A couple bite marks. Looks like we got a piece of rope hanging off
something. I might have to go in for it. I gotta go in for it. Gotta go in. Good thing you brought
the scuba gear. All right. Let's hope this goes better than getting lobster. Seriously first
underwater boat repair. One of many to come I'm sure. Oh yeah I see it. Should I get the
action camera show up? Nah it's just a rope around the prop. It's not a big deal. Lazy photographer.
Should have got my dive knife. That would have been helpful. Man the water is so blue and refreshing.
Now you don't want to get back in? Well I mean this is where we saw the sharks the other day.
So you do kind of want to get back in?
Whoa that's exciting. Oh the block broke. Okay. No sailing for us huh? No well we could but you know
you probably want the block. You probably want the block? Yeah you want to drop us out.
I got a spare block. It's a double purchase but let's
let's see we can make a plan. Fix one thing and everything breaks. Welcome to boat ownership right?
Squish. Good and then we'll just tension the topping lift. Okay. And that'll tension us.
All right Kat. Get back on our heading here. Ken stole the smash block off the front of the mast
and was able to temporarily repair this one. Well I guess replace this one with something that
got us up and sailing. We turned off the motors for about half an hour but the wind keeps kind
of coming and going. Now we're motor sailing with only one engine. Not because we have to but
because we want to save fuel. And we're cruising along about seven knots. We should get in tonight
around one o'clock. No 10 30. Oh 10 30 p.m which is good. One thing we've learned every time we sail
lots of spare parts. Lots of spare parts and lots of tools and spare parts. So that was four things? Yeah.
One thing. Four things. Oh maybe. I think he got one.
No it's not working. Other way. There you go. It's smarter than the fish. No it's still not working.
And that's how not to catch a fish.
Damn it. I should have been ready with the net. Yeah. We don't own a net yet. We got to get fishing
gear. There we go. So you caught a fish. Caught a fish. And we didn't have to kill him. That's great.
Yeah. Well that was good. That was anti-climatic.
Well that's a good sign. Should we have this yummy tuna fish you made instead?
There we go. Because that's just the kind of pre-planning you do.
That's funny. Bulk over tow and lighthouse off in the distance.
Once you're done, over to the rig. All right. I'm going to go help. Got to put it away.
