McDonalds in Japan: SHRIMP BURGER!?

Hey, good morning. First full day here in Fukuoka. Don't really have a plan and for some reason I'm kind of feeling fast food again. So maybe we'll go check out what McDonald's like in Japan. How about that? Hotel is around Hakata station. This is like where almost everything is and there's McDonald's over there And I know I just ate at Wendy's, but for some reason, I don't know why like it's part curiosity It's part laziness. Maybe a little bit of self-hate. Whatever. Let's just go eat it right now I'm in a weird time between breakfast and lunch. So I guess I could eat breakfast or wait a while and eat lunch or Or I could eat both. I think that's a pretty good idea McDonald's breakfast menu. It's very similar to what we have in the States except for a few things Um, you can actually get chicken nuggets for breakfast I don't know. I mean, I don't eat at McDonald's like ever. So do we have petite pancakes for breakfast? Maybe we do. Also You can get fish for breakfast Which I think is pretty awesome. I got mustard sauce and Okay, so this is for the pancakes. It's like a little syrup and butter Combo sauce it doesn't happen often. But this McDonald's actually really making me hungry. Let's start with some pancakes Actually smells pretty darn good Chicken nuggets. Ooh That may be the prettiest bun ever seen at McDonald's. I don't know if McDonald's in the US has this but this is like the Big Mac of Sausage McMuffins. Two sausage patties, an egg and bacon. Oh also something that's kind of surprising to see on the menu here for breakfast A chicken on a English muffin. Okay McMuffin McMuffin. It just oh That's like the most picture-perfect bun I've ever seen at a McDonald's I mean, I almost don't want to eat this. It's like a Bouncy house Perfect All right. Anyway, let's get started with the pancake. Confused as to how to open this. I think Alright, just had an accident. You're supposed to Break it like like that, but it just squirted everywhere. So there we go That is that is a genius by the way, really really fluffy little pancakes. Looks like it would make really good blankets Wow Extremely fluffy pancakes Not just that there's some sort of citrusy flavor on these pancakes. I don't know that's coming from the from the syrup. Hang on Let me see Yep, there's something citrusy that is added in the syrup Gosh, I wish we had this in the States. This is just elevates the pancakes so much. The pancakes are great already I can't believe I'm enjoying these pancakes so much. Chicken nugget Pretty crispy on the outside. I'm both impressed and kind of terrified at the same time. Let me tell you why First of all This is a real chicken. Not like the typical soy tofu mysterious stuff that's in chicken nuggets in the US This real chicken is Juicy chicken. This is very meaty and the most probably, you know chicken tasting chicken nugget I've ever had a McDonald's ever probably because it's made with real chicken And I appreciate that. I'm pretty sure that's raw in the middle and I just took a bite of that Salmonella is never funny. But even still I'm gonna eat these nuggets because they're just that good Those are the best McDonald's chicken nuggets I've ever had. I gotta bite into this perfect fish sandwich I think this thing should enter like a like a burger modeling concept. There's such a thing. Fish nice and crispy on the outside It's symmetric, it's got great complexion, no blemishes whatsoever. I'm just oh I almost feel bad about eating this thing This is about as perfect as a fish fillet sandwich as I've ever had. I'm gonna actually taste the fresh onions in here The fillet is beautifully crispy on the outside, ginger on the inside, good amount of tater sauce, but just this bun Oh, that's some fluffy delicious melting in your mouth bun right here. Bravo McDonald's Japan I'm not really sure what this is Some lettuce. It looks like some yellow-ish sauce That's about it. Piece of piece of chicken. Chicken is not that crispy on the outside. Definitely does not dress to impress That was a little cardboard-y. The yellow sauce is mustard sauce. The McMuffin is a little tough So is that chicken itself. Despite all that the flavor is really good It's a little spicy, a little peppery. I actually like the chicken. If the outside could have been a little more crunchy this thing may Be a little easier to chew. Must be pretty excellent Finally the monster breakfast sandwich. Look at this thing. Two sausage patties, bacon Whatever the sauce is maybe just ketchup. This is this is a real piece of pork belly Oh, this I mean that actually looks fantastic. This is a breakfast sandwiches breakfast sandwich. I gotta say, it's pretty glorious. My bite didn't really. Here I need two hands. Here we go. I think you need a big bite to really be able to Appreciate that whole sandwich. It's pretty phenomenal. It's substantial and I pretty much love it. I mean the egg is super fresh That that's a good egg. Sausage patties a little salty, but very flavorful. Bacon. Come on. It's bacon Can't say anything bad about bacon. The McMuffins on this one is actually Toasted nice. It's pretty gentle. It's not it doesn't taste like cardboard. It actually tastes pretty good. I mean it's meaty It's eggy. It's a little crunchy. You've got different types of textures You've got the meltiness of the pork belly. This sandwich might set you back a few years You know in terms of your lifespan, but is it a tasty sandwich? Heck yeah Pretty good breakfast. Now you guys ready for lunch? Let's go get some lunch. The lunch menu is out. The Big Mac Don't know what that is. It's like maybe a teriyaki burger Every single order at McDonald's is fulfilled in like less than a minute Kid you not like the wait time is literally less than a minute. Oh Arigato gozaimasu Lunch menu tons of differences and I got the burgers that I've never seen in the US. Well except for a couple I got the Big Mac because yeah McDonald's you got to get a Big Mac. I Love this tea. Like I said, we've got the Big Mac I got an egg cheeseburger Fries, of course the Grand Clubhouse. I mean, I I don't know if this exists in the US. I've never seen it This is so interesting. It's a ginger pork burger a teriyaki McBurger and a EB fillet and instead of a fish fillet. It's it's a EB fillet. This is the egg cheeseburger. Oh Again Another perfect bun. What is up with Japan McDonald's and his insane ability to just create just like the most beautiful burger buns I've ever seen in my life and look at this thing again, just like the last time perfect Egg, kind of like what you see in a breakfast cheese and a patty Grand Clubhouse you see this is typically what I expect the bun to look like not not like this Look at this. It's like Halle Berry and Seth Rogen. I mean, come on. This is the clubhouse I mean this kind of looks like a mess of a burger lettuce tomatoes and bacon and a slightly thicker burger patty with cheese I'm so interested in this the ginger pork burger slightly deformed bun lettuce looks like maybe teriyaki sauce It's a pork patty the EB fillet. Oh, ooh First one that's on a sesame bun. It looks like a fish fillet, but it's gonna be a shrimp fillet in the Big Mac There it is pretty perfect sesame top though. Look at oh, this might be the most perfect sesame bun. I've seen ever Oh, that's beautiful I mean the burger itself is a little collapsed looks like a typical Big Mac Cheese is not all that melty doesn't look all that impressive. But oh that is just beautiful Finally the teriyaki burger sesame bun teriyaki sauce doesn't look like a beef patty It's like a pork patty kind of looks like the ginger pork burger so far has a sesame bun Let's start ginger pork burger why not as a huge taste of ginger in this This burger is delicious. You can taste a nice flavor of the pork It's very gingerly not to the point where it works like too spicy or what's too much Oh, the ginger is kind of burning burning right here right here, but it doesn't hurt you and it doesn't irritate you It's like the perfect amount of ginger in this burger. You taste a ginger. You definitely feel it's present I also really love the crispy onions here now that I had the ginger burger I kind of want to taste this teriyaki burger Which tastes just like the ginger burger without the ginger ton of teriyaki sauce It's almost a little too much for me a little too sweet for me. I like the pork patty I think it's delicious. This actually looks pretty beautiful. This is excellent eggs actually cooked really really well It actually tastes really fresh beef is nice. But mainly like mainly you're getting the eggs here. The beef is almost secondary This is more more like an egg burger and the egg is the star I wish McDonald's in the US had this so this is kind of like the filet-o-fish except for it's basically a filet-o-shrimp The filet-o-eat-it. I gotta tell you guys. It's a fantastic burger. The outside of filet is crunchy The inside is actually really snappy. You can taste all the individual shrimp It's not like it's just mashed into like a shrimp paste. The sauce is fantastic I don't know whether I like the shrimp or not because I really love the sauce that's on here. I Really tart Slightly spicy almost like a like a spicy mayo sauce. That's kind of becoming the highlight of the sandwich for me This is the grand club. I mean, it just looks like a couple pieces of bacon On a patty that's about it. I don't think this is this look really good on the pictures But I don't think this is all that special. I was wrong. This is a really solid burger This thing is so incredibly meaty like a big-sized beef patty but bacon is substantial It's smoky There's little bits of jalapeno in here to add some heat and the sauce is the same one that was on the ED sandwich It's like that slightly tart spicy mayo. That really completes the sandwich Finally the Big Mac, you know out of all the sandwiches I got here. This seems to be the least spectacular Doesn't that just look very ordinary besides the beautiful sesame bun. Overly salted It tastes really dry, very salty Probably my least favorite burger today. Having tried the breakfast menu and the lunch menu here at McDonald's in Japan I think some of my favorite items I've had today. The silver dollar pancake mainly because of that syrup That is absolutely wonderful. The fish fillet, best fish fillet I've ever had and for lunch I love the ginger pork sandwich. Don't love the look But love the taste of the Grand Club. And that egg cheeseburger, that just speaks to me. Overall the quality of the McDonald's here Hands down way better than anything I've had in the US. The chicken Like I said was actually chicken. The nuggets are good The beef quality is good and I talked about the perfect buns, right? Service extremely extremely friendly and super fast Literally my breakfast item was served to me under a minute. My lunch item was served to me under a minute It's actually enjoyable eating at McDonald's here What, look like I just ate like Seven McDonald's sandwiches. That was not a good decision. I mean I didn't finish it all but This is all that's left. I mean breakfast went down pretty easy. It was really tasty. I was starving. But lunch How did I eat that much? It's just I think I lost 10 years off my life today. I gotta go lay down. Fresh orange juice. This looks great. Orange juice, orange juice. Love me some orange juice. So good. Three? Okay, three? One. No, it's not. No, what am I? It must be color. Color? Yeah, like this. Oh, it's gotta be. Okay, okay, okay. One last chance. This sells so many different types of mochi ice cream. So many types of mochi ice cream and this is like my favorite type of ice cream. Oh, the McDonald's. I couldn't be easier eating mochi ice cream. I don't even care. I'm getting one. Ah. That is an ice block. I know. Oh. That's too hard. As you all know, Fukuoka, my first full day here. Today was pretty uneventful. I ate at McDonald's and passed out. That's basically my entire day. Tonight, I wanted to go try street food in Fukuoka. Fukuoka is the only city in Japan that still has street food. But I heard it's really touristy. It's overpriced. It's not that good. So I'm looking for a seafood restaurant here. That is supposed to be just spectacular. That place, like wow. I mean, it's expensive, yeah. But just ridiculous seafood. I literally don't know if that's a real person or if that's a statue. I'm kind of scared. Oh God, I hope it's a statue. If that thing comes alive right now, I might have to jump into the river. Oh, this woman is great. Oh, she's awesome. A lot of fans, too. That's her Twitter if you want to follow her. I got to say, this is a really beautiful city. It really is. I mean, it's not like Kyoto where it's all historic. It's not like Tokyo where it's all just glitz and lights. It's just pretty, you know? It's kind of like, I don't know, the Venice of Japan. Love this stuff. Wait for ice cream sandwich. Walked around Fukuoka after a delicious seafood meal. Eating an ice cream sandwich. Taking a walk in perfect weather. Reason 5,391 I want to move to Japan.
