THE ULTIMATE BEDROOM MAKEOVER - Full Room Transformation + Tour! (From Start to Finish)

This is when I toured the apartment So as you can see the wall color was a little bit yellow I was obsessed with the arched window Not a huge fan of these floor-to-ceiling mirrors at all, but the landlord was so kind He took away the floor-to-ceiling mirrors and he also scraped all of the ceilings for us So no more popcorn ceilings and then over here in this little nook area This is like an additional closet space, but i'm actually converting it into an office space Which is going to be its own makeover in probably a couple weeks here on my channel So keep your eyes peeled and subscribe for that video But I love the floors all this space really needs is a fresh coat of paint some new curtains And of course the ceiling scraped and those mirrors removed and then it's truly my dream bedroom. You do not have to shove it back in the box, which is amazing And if you guys head to helixsleep.com slash drew scott, you can get up to 200 off your order plus two free pillows So definitely check the link in the description box below So as many of you guys know i've been living in this apartment or this bedroom, I guess for about six months now So I have done a couple of kind of changes in here Which i'm going to share with you guys, of course And the first one was is that I painted all of the walls chantilly lace by benjamin moore Which is a nice bright white you can see the difference from the old color right here It is just crazy what some white paint can do to a bedroom so I painted it all white and something else I had to do right away when I moved in was install curtains because My room gets so much light, which is incredible. However, when the sun starts shining in your eyeballs at 6 15 a.m It's not the most incredible thing in the world But I wanted to create curtains that accentuated the arch because the arched window is such a focal But also that covered the windows at nighttime and that is exactly what I did with some long rods I hung up the rod and now I am doing the curtains and as you can see these are the gold curtain rings that I purchased because I wanted the curtains to drop a little bit more in length and I didn't want to have to purchase the whole neck size Which would have required me to sew every single curtain? So I decided that i'm going to be doing the curtain ring that way it kind of added this additional inch Which is really all that I needed and these curtains here are incredibly beautiful They are from amazon, but the reviews were amazing. Everyone said that they were similar to like a restoration hardware linen curtains All right, guys, so you remember how the walls looked like before like this I just added the curtains and I cannot even believe the change Can you that is insane what curtains can do to a wall? This looks incredible I used a super super long gold rod up here, which just looks perfect and I didn't want to cover the arch So the arch is still there the curtains look amazing There's actually two panels here that way I can pull one to the arch one to this window Then of course this panel goes to the left this panel goes to the left because it gets so bright in the morning I need sun blocking curtains going to be doing the same thing actually to this wall as well Um, there's going to be a panel here a panel here a panel here and a panel there So i'm going to go ahead and do this wall, too And one other large addition I actually added to this room was the board and batten wall that I installed in collaboration with home depot Which was so exciting. I actually created this with them about two months ago So it is over on their channel If you are curious, I will link it below for you guys so you can take a look at the full tutorial I've actually already Shown board and batten on my channel a couple of times So I figured I didn't really need to show every single step in this video here because every wall is different But I did install about halfway up the wall some board and batten which I knew I did want to paint a color I wanted a nice bold color on the bottom So I just installed it how I traditionally do and of course you can watch the full tutorial if you do want to see how I create something like this It only took me probably two hours or so very simple And for this one, I actually also added a shelf on top just for an additional little detail And you guys have been asking me what color it is. Here it is It's kona for green by bare if you are curious, that is the color on my board and batten wall I did two even coats on there and that finished it off. I absolutely love this accent wall It is day one of my bedroom makeover Well, I mean you guys have already seen that I got a couple things done in here so the curtains are hung and the board and batten wall is done, but I wanted to give you guys an overview of the Space currently because you really haven't seen like where i've been living for the past couple of months I have not shared it with you. So let me show you guys the current status of my room Absolutely love my room as well. So this is kind of the view from the door when you walk in I have an area rug here. I have my dresser as well, which i'll touch on a little bit later And then we have my two nightstands which you guys always ask me where they're from They are an anthropology piece that I bought right when I moved in by justina blake and lee and sadly I believe that's how you pronounce your name. I hope I didn't butcher that sadly They're not available anymore But there's these really really cool rattan style nightstands and then I have my board and batten Of course, we have a mirror over here, which leads to my closet. I want to do something over here I don't know what I think i'm going to paint the frame black Maybe I actually don't know where I want to start first My helix mattress has actually been in my craft room for two days like just fluffing up So it is ready to go on my new bed frame Which I also got because i'm upgrading to a queen bed I've had a full my entire life and i'm upgrading to a queen i'm becoming a queen period So I guess I should maybe start by building the new bed frame so we can get that in here because I do want to See how the bed frame looks with my wall behind it And i'll make sure to link the bed frame for you guys below. I got such a good deal and I think it was like 300 350 ish dollars and it's a spindle bed. It's so pretty. So let's go ahead and assemble that If you guys are curious i'm going to be keeping this rug in the lone fox room because I love this rug It's just not meant for this space, but I do want to use it in the future. So transporting this over to my storage corner It has been about two hours since I last talked to you guys and the bed is fully assembled and it is so Pretty how great is this wood color? By the way, it is like a dark it's called walnut Um, I just really really like the color of it. I think it contrasts nicely with the floor It also contrasts really amazingly with this green wall here But as you guys remember I removed the prior rug that I had in here and I do not have a new rug yet So I actually am going to go over to home goods right now. It's about 2 p.m So I figured I have a little bit of time before the sun goes down I'm going to try to head over to home goods and see if I could find a rug for this space I've never bought a rug at home goods, but I do know that they have a lot of eight by tens Which that's the size I do need So i'm in home goods right now i'm checking out little like Side table options because I do need a side table for my two chairs that I have and I found this one It's actually pretty simple. It's like a dark wood and I also apologize you guys the music in here is so Loud, I don't know what is up with it. Oh, it's like 40 I don't know if you remember this coffee table I used in a past apartment makeover that I did Um, and you guys asked me where it was from. This is actually so cute and I found another one I never thought i'd come across another one. I got the other one at home goods as well. So Found this one. Look how cool that clock is also I'm currently jammed inside of this rug section, but this is such a beautiful rug It has such nice like soft greens brown. There's like a little bit of pink in here and yellow Like i'm actually trying to hold it open, but you guys can kind of see it a little bit maybe I don't know It's really cute though. It is actually a vintage turkish rug. So it is very expensive Um, but I honestly think I want to get it and splurge on it because it's so pretty again The music is kind of loud But I just found these bird baths and how cool would these be? As a side table as opposed to this one that I found. Um, it's about the same price $39.99 But I love the shape of this. I would definitely repaint it. However I think this is much more interesting. Um, and it's odd that it's a birth bath, but I think it would be a really cute side table The main color in my room is green and I just found this vogue Coffee table book and it's green. It's so cute. It's about jewelry. But I mean I think it'll be really cute on the shelf or something so I just got the price tag for the rug and I don't want you guys to hate me because I am going to get it because honestly I've been looking for a rug for this room for months Since I moved in and I have not been able to find one. I like everything about it is amazing It's actually vintage hand knotted rug. Um, so it's not just like a random rug that costs as much It's 15 Can you see? It is $1,500 which is a lot of money Okay, this is editing drew popping in because you guys I reasoned with the camera for two minutes Why I wanted to purchase this rug and I just felt like I don't need to do that You know if I want to buy an expensive rug and splurge on a couple items for my bedroom where I spend Every single day I work out of here. I live out of here. Every single thing I do is in my room I figured I should splurge on pieces that I do like I feel like I work hard Um, and I feel like if I want to buy a $1,500 rug that i'm going to have forever I can do so so That's my reasoning behind buying that rug. I absolutely love it. I'm literally my foot is on it right now It is incredible You guys are going to see it in the space in just a second But that's the reason I spent uh quite a bit of money on this rug I really just loved it and I hope you guys do too I came to Lowe's right after home goods to look for a light fixture for my room. I'm really into This one right here that has the wood on the bottom and then like the addison bulb I also like this one here, which is just a black circular one I think I have space for a substantial size of light So I think i'm gonna just go ahead and get a larger one And if for some reason it looks too big I might put it back but those are the two I'm gonna check over here as well. You might see me laying on the new rug just taking a quick little nap Just kidding. I just brought it in my room. It was so heavy I had to bring it up the stairs so I needed to lay down for a second My hair is crazy. I was wearing a hat. I had to take it off. Um Now it's really fluffy, but I got this rug at home goods. Yes. It was a splurge I know it was a lot you guys but I am so Excited about it. If it doesn't look good I'm gonna be kind of a little bit sad, but I think it should look okay The colors look so pretty um, and it's gonna go really nicely with the wood and the green wall as well So let's lay it down It's the bed the mattress is on And it is so so comfortable I This is much more comfortable than my old mattress for sure I've had my old one for like eight years or so, but I don't have any bedding for a queen-size mattress So i'm not really sure exactly what i'm gonna do at the moment Um, i'm gonna attempt to fit my full-size bedding on top of this. It's getting a little dark outside now Good morning, everyone. It is the next day um I actually spent last night heading over to a couple of shops to get some bedding for my bed because I don't know why I thought this but I swore that every like full-sized Item like a full bed size item like sheets or comfort or whatever. It was also fit a queen I swore everything was full slash queen. I see that all the time But apparently that is not the case for everything. Some things are full and some things are queen I feel like this is something I probably should have known but you guys again I'm, not an interior designer. So I did not know that So I ended up going to target and they didn't have much at all, which sucked I was able to actually find a duvet insert. They had one left So I got a queen-sized duvet insert from that casa luna collection Then I also found a queen-sized linen sheet set in this like creamy tone, which I think will be nice Also matches my visual interest shirt almost and then I ended up going to cb2 because cb2 in la is pretty close to target And I found this duvet cover. They didn't have any of the shams or anything, but it's like a linen-y Striped kind of creamy tone. It's very similar to this I feel like these might go nicely together, but i'm also not 100% sure We also got a delivery today from west elm this morning, which I am so excited about it's behind me I could not even like record when it got here. I was so excited I wanted to put them in the room. So let me share with you guys the chairs that I ordered from west elm Okay, okay. Okay. Here are the chairs. I'm not sure if i'm gonna do two chairs or one chair I got these on an insane savings I believe they were originally like 600 each and I ended up getting them for around 250 with shipping Which I thought was a great deal I got it during I think like Some form of buy more save more sale that they were having but I do want to go ahead and get the bedding on the Bed because that's a very focal point in this room. It's very large So I want to make sure that the bedding looks nice and then I can kind of coordinate all of my decor And everything else I do in this space around the situation here because I just love this rug I also ordered some rug tape on amazon so I can tape down the edges a bit I went ahead and spent like 30 minutes styling the bed a little bit as you can see This is the state that it's currently at I do not know which throw blanket I want to put on here I have like nine different options. I actually also added these really cute vintage throw pillows from my online store Which i'll link these below they come in a lot of different colors And I just really like those I think they add a nice touch to the bed Also, I want to really badly install a light I think that's what i'm actually going to do next because I think the light's going to be a very very focal point in this Room, so i'm going to go ahead install the light and see how that looks i'm crossing my fingers that it looks good Update so I hung the light up as you can see here and I really love the size of it I actually think it looks really really great. It's not too big I was a little bit scared that it was gonna be too big. I only used one of the chain links However, the scary thing about this light fixture, which I just learned how to do these by the way Both the wires are freaking black and both of them are black here One's supposed to be white and one's supposed to be black One's supposed to be white and one is supposed to be black So so we're gonna hop on a call with marie's um uncle who is an electrician and he's gonna walk us through how to do This so once it's all up and fully done i'm going to share it with you guys But he said it should be pretty simple Um, he's just gonna look at the wires on the facetime and then we're gonna figure it out together So i'll be back once this is up Okay, guys after about two hours. This light was the biggest struggle i've ever had in my life to put up It was such a challenge mainly because it was heavy. I had to hold it I was stringing wires through here and there trying to figure out which wire was which But it does turn on As you can see and it looks so Good, so it is up. It's ready to go. All the cording is perfect So so far so good with the light and I love that it turned out So let's move on to some other parts in the room Good morning guys It is sunday the 25th today and I think today is actually going to be the last day of the makeover So this morning I already went ahead. I applied a second coat to all of the closet doors So these are perfect now no streaks at all As you could see the first coat was a little bit scary But I think it was because it was like a glossy paint and what I basically want to do today Which are the two main things that are the I guess largest things I need to do Is I need to mount the tv on the wall and then I also picked up these really cute sconces on amazon Which i'll link these below for you guys and I want to hang these right about here-ish I think that would look really cute kind of by the curtains and the window and above the bed area as well Now there is no hard wiring in the wall But i'm going to be doing one of those puck light kind of like diy hacks to make it look like you're wired in the Wall for a sconce then everything else from there is mainly just decor So I want to do those two larger tasks hanging the sconces the tv first I also need to diy the birdbath I found at home goods as well So that's going to be the little table for the chair section, but let's get started These right here are the puck lights. I got these on amazon There's a little remote here and I already installed the batteries in these with the batteries These should actually last 100 hours each which is a pretty long amount of time. Click them on you click them off That's all there is to it. And all i'm going to do is literally take this Go over to my sconce Drop it in the top just like this kind of face down so the light illuminates downwards and then When I click the little on button my sconce looks like it's lit up I also love how you can just control it with the remote so I can just have this on my bedside table I can turn them on and off and it does control both at the same time. So that's really fun I'll link these below for you guys as well But such an easy hack to make it look like you have sconces and it's hardwired So I got this frame at goodwill when I went to my parents in arizona It was four dollars and 49 cents, but it's so pretty It has like a little bit of brass and then it also has wood and I think it might look really nice The sizing of it up on the wall in between the sconces. It's hard to see It's going to be a little bit on the smaller side. However, i've really been liking Just fell you guys however I've really been liking like smaller artwork, um in a little bit more white space Especially because I think this area is a little bit busy anyway So I think having a smaller piece here would be nice. I do need to artwork for this though so I think i'm going to go online and see if I can find some form of digital download and then Download it and print it at staples and just put it inside of this frame here. So I just mounted the tv and I put my tv frame on it because as many of you guys know I have a samsung frame just like in the living room. This is a smaller size. This is the smallest It's the 43 inch and I got this really cool frame from deco tv frames I'm going to link them below for you guys. This is the ornate gold option so pretty they actually sent this to me when they saw that I um Bought a samsung frame because I posted about it right when I moved into my apartment They're like would you like a frame and I was like absolutely so they kindly sent me this over and it looks incredible Let me show you guys look how cool that looks It literally looks like a piece of artwork and then i'm going to plug it in Of course a cord is going to come down here-ish All right, you guys the room is completely finished and I am so So excited with the outcome of this bedroom. I cannot believe this is my Room like absolutely insane. I am obsessed with it And I hope that you guys love the outcome just as much as I do So i'm going to be revealing it to you guys in a couple of seconds with some befores and afters So you can kind of see how this space transformed over the past few months Mainly over the past couple of days, but let me share with you guys the final bedroom. So three two one Bedroom makeover. I hope that you guys enjoyed this video. It was such a fun project for me I was a little bit scared and hesitant halfway through after I got the chairs and I saw them with the rug Overall, I think there was just a lot of stuff in my room And that's something I think you guys should keep in mind is if you're making over a room and you still have a lot Of items that you know You're going to be removing they can really alter like your vision on the space at its current state if that makes sense So I think that you really need to remove everything And kind of work on it step by step until you get to the end and then alter things in the end kind of tailor It to your likings.
