This is London. My name is David Morgan Hewitt and for the last 30 years I've been here as part of
the team at the Goring and the last 13 of them I've been the managing director. I know many of
you were probably expecting to see me in Las Vegas up on stage no doubt with a large headdress
but I decided it was time to take a year off so I stayed in London and had a lie down. Also to be
fair we have been very busy here at the Goring as we opened our second restaurant, Siren.
It overlooks the Goring Gardens and is situated in this incredible pavilion which ensures that
in a way all through the year you can take advantage of the outdoors and you can eat
overlooking one of the quietest spots right in the centre of London. This wonderful restaurant
that you see behind me showcases the very best of Cornish produce with simple seafood dishes
of understated brilliance brought to life by Nathan Outlaw one of the country's greatest chefs.
Never known to do things by halves here at the Goring we didn't just build a new restaurant
we also decided to completely refurbish and rebuild the Goring bar. It's now managed by Tiago
who was formerly at the extraordinarily chic Annabelle's Club. The Goring bar therefore has
become an even more lively destination than it was before. New signature cocktails have been created,
the piano tinkles away in the background allowing you to finish your meal in Siren,
wander through and ask for a Brandy Alexander. Here at the Goring our very existence is actually
about the happiness of your clients when they choose to stay with us. You see we're in the
business of making wonderful memories. If you have a client who has a particular thing that they would
like to do whilst here in London that may seem a little odd, not exactly run-of-the-mill, then test
us. Big John our head concierge knows everybody everywhere and if he can't sort it out for your
guests I assure you no one else can. Stuart, John and Rebecca have told me how much bigger and better
travel week was this year and they also explained that the big theme this year was Wanderlust.
Now I think that's very appropriate for us in the hotel world because I'm really hoping that
some of your clients are going to put London on that list of places they wish to visit.
Now for those of you that don't know the Goring is situated in the most wonderful
and somewhat exclusive area of Belgravia, tucked as we are literally right behind Buckingham Palace.
So who could want for better neighbours? We're relatively small of just 69 exquisite rooms and
suites and also we have one of the highest staff to guest ratios in the city as our 220
dedicated staff will spend their time when your guests are here creating dreams and magic to allow
your clients to fulfill their Wanderlust. In the meantime can I thank you most sincerely
for seeing Stuart, John and Rebecca in Las Vegas. I was sorry I couldn't be with you this year
but believe me I'm already packing my bits and bobs ready to head out there next summer.
I look forward to seeing you all then but before then I look forward to being able to welcome
some of your clients over here this side of the pond at the Goring.
