We are arriving now to a temple called Nikpik, which has the particularity of being in the middle of a lake.
Here you see, we are crossing a lake with a kind of artificial bridge that has been created here from the ground.
This is the last temple of today's circuit, which is the temple of Keapran, which is one of the largest in this area of temples,
because this is a very small area, well, walking is a lot of time,
but it is a very small area compared to all the land that covers the more than 1,000 temples
that have been discovered of this civilization that was here between the 15th and 16th centuries.
Here we have the entrance, as you can see, it is super beautiful, so we are going to enter now.
It is usually this temple, in this it highlights how well it is preserved and also the details of the figures on the wall.
TripAdvisor
As always, and the truth is that we have gone to a super backpacker place, as always,
it was the best value restaurant in TripAdvisor, French.
Well, the food in general was super tasty, we have filled ourselves with a bestiality,
and now we are taking a walk and I can go to the hotel, because I know that it will be horrible.
Well, the place is very fun, it is all like a pub and street food area,
very typical of these days of Southeast Asia, and nothing, we are going to take a walk around here.
Day 2
Ready?
Well, a new day begins, it started very early, in fact, we woke up at 4,
because we had to come here, we are again in the archaeological area of Angkor,
and we have come to the main temple, which is Angkor Wat, and we have come so early to see the sunrise,
which is like one of the most typical and spectacular things that can be seen here in Angkor.
The only bad thing is that we had the sky super cloudy, so of course it is much more beautiful when it is totally clear,
and you can see how the sun comes out from behind, with all orange light and such, instead of clouds.
But still, very beautiful, there were a lot of people, here you see an image of how the previous part of the lake was,
that there are many more people distributed throughout the temple, and when I recorded it,
a large part had already gone, because it was already dawn, but for you to get an idea,
the amount of people is incredible, and nothing, now it is like 6 o'clock or so,
and we are entering here, inside the enclosure, to the main temple, which is here at the entrance.
And well, Angkor Wat is the best known temple part of this entire archaeological area,
in fact, many times, most people refer to this as Angkor Wat, to the whole area,
and when it really is just one of the temples, of the more than a thousand that are here,
it is true that it is the most important, it is the largest religious complex in the world,
and here it housed more than 20,000 people, where we are entering now, in this building,
and it was also the capital of all this part of Angkor, when it was the capital of the General Kingdom,
and then it has a huge importance.
Well, a few hours have passed since we were in Angkor Wat,
but as it has started to rain quite intensely, we have returned to the hotel to rest a little,
have breakfast, and wait for it to stop, and now we have returned, we are on our way again,
we have come to the next temple of the little tour that is done here, in the archaeological area of Angkor,
which is the Angkor Thom area.
It is a complex, it is probably the largest complex in this entire area,
which includes a few things, including one of the most important temples, which is the Le Bayon,
which is where we are entering now, and then all this is very well preserved, as you can see,
it is also one of the parts of a citadel.
We are here in Thaprong, which is the last temple that we are going to visit on this tour,
this portion of temples, and this is very characteristic because it is a temple that is totally
buried in nature, similar to another one that we have seen, but this one is already with trees embedded
inside the temple itself and everything, and the truth is that it is very beautiful because they have decided
not to restore it completely to maintain the essence of the temple integrated into nature,
so there is a lot of part that is destroyed without renewing, for example here you see,
here there are like stones thrown, and it was used as a Buddhist monastery during the 12th century,
and it was one of the richest temples that existed at the time, there were up to 3,000 villages
that lived here within this area of the temple.
One of the best-known parts of this Thaprong temple, or why most people come,
is because it came out in a movie, Tomb Raider, from the year 2000 or so, where Angelina Jolie appeared,
and in this temple, in the images you see, is where she walked around looking for the treasure.
I don't know, I haven't seen the movie, so ...
You haven't seen the movie Tomb Raider?
No, I haven't even seen it, I'm sorry, but I haven't seen it.
I saw it, well, if it's from 2000, I would see it more or less around there, so maybe I was 10 years old,
but it came out, it was around this area, and that's why there is a queue to take a picture right at the spot
where it was, where the tree is there eating the temple, that part is very cool, but of course,
when this kind of thing is full of queues of people and so on, it loses a bit of the magic of the place,
that if you find it alone, without anyone.
