Liam Payne | House Tour | Haunted Calabasas Mansion & Surrey Estate

Earlier this year, it was reported that Liam Payne sold his mansion in Calabasas, California for $10.2 million to another famous singer. Do you guys know who? The former One Direction member purchased the 4.75-acre compound in 2015 for $10 million and it featured waterfalls, koi ponds, enchanted gardens and much more. Considering Liam hails from the UK, he also maintains a multi-million dollar country estate near the town of Woking in Surrey, which he renovated back in 2018, adding a two-story extension and goodies like an indoor pool, and in this video, we'll check out his amazing mansions. In these videos we don't reveal any addresses and even though I've done a house tour of my own place, please do not show up at any private residences because it's not safe for anyone. Liam Payne is an English singer and songwriter who rose to fame being a member of the boy band One Direction. He made his debut as a singer in 2008 auditioning for The X Factor and after being eliminated, auditioned again in 2010 when he was chosen to be in One Direction, which of course went on to become one of the best-selling boy bands of all time. Liam's debut album as a solo artist came out at the end of 2019 and went on to sell over 18 million singles in just two years since One Direction. At the time of this recording, Liam is estimated to have a net worth of $70 million, an amount he's continued to rack up after the boy band days through modeling deals and his solo career. With that, he's been able to live in gorgeous mansions in both Los Angeles and across the pond in his home of the UK. He transformed his longtime mansion in Surrey, about 35 miles from central London, into a lad pad after his last breakup, adding on luxury features like a basement level gym and games room. Not to mention, his former villa in Calabasas was said to be haunted, but we'll get into that soon. Back in 2019, it was reported that Liam had chopped the asking price of his Calabasas compound to $12.9 million, and also listed it as a luxury rental at $40K per month. He purchased the sprawling property back in 2015 for $10 million, and it was located in the rugged Santa Monica Mountains, more specifically, between the exclusive neighborhoods of Calabasas and Malibu, California. Earlier this year though, it was revealed that Liam found a buyer for the mega mansion, and it was none other than famous singer Halsey, who snagged the pad for almost $10.2 million. And Halsey, who has a song called Ghost, may be back in touch with the spirit world after moving in, considering Liam once claimed this villa was haunted by a previous owner. But more on that in a moment. Liam's former Calabasas compound spanned 4.75 acres of land, and was situated at the end of a tree-covered private lane, while the driveway led over a stone and wooden bridge up to the front of the Spanish-style main mansion, which spanned 9,659 square feet. Inside, there were 5 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms in total, and outbuildings like a guardhouse, two guest houses, a fitness pavilion, and a recording studio. Another beautiful bonus was the Japanese-inspired tea house and meditation space that sat on a hill beside a koi pond. Liam's former grounds also had waterfalls, picturesque gardens, and plenty of rolling lawns. The mansion was built back in 1991, and listing photos show stunning archways and Spanish tiling on the house. The grand interiors boasted walnut flooring, soaring beamed ceilings, and a full audio system throughout the mansion. Liam once greeted guests in this barrel-vaulted entryway that was flanked with columns leading into the great room. This may just be my favorite spot in the mansion, as the room had a double-height wood ceiling, an arched window flooding the space with light, and a limestone fireplace. We can also see the wooden staircase leading to the upper level of the residence, and a pair of doors to the patio. While I love the great room, it's hard to compete with the amazing library Liam had here. The double-height library featured ornate details, and looked like something straight out of Hogwarts. It was decked out in wood, with a second floor gallery, fireplace, and a sitting area. The kitchen was big enough to host an entire boy band and then some, with double-sized island and bar-style seating. Aside from the high-end appliances, there was also a unique aquarium built into the custom cabinets here. Other main floor spaces included a formal dining room with fireplace, a breakfast nook, and elsewhere, a state-of-the-art home theater with widescreen projector. Liam had quite the master suite upstairs, featuring more wood-beam ceilings, a sitting area, walk-out balcony, and epic ensuite bath. With double vanities, a soaking tub, and separate tiled shower, bathroom had an impressive design as well. A basement level in his former mansion was the perfect space to kick back with family and friends, and had a large games room with billiards table, arcade games, and more, while nearby there was a wine cellar. As I mentioned, Liam's home gym was located in its own outbuilding, so you would imagine it was fully stocked. Aside from this, there were the two guest houses on the property, along with ample outdoor space, a fire pit with plush seating, and an outdoor kitchen. The extensively landscaped grounds had a rock-lined creek, waterfalls, and mature trees, as well as a private corner with a hammock to take in the surroundings. Of course, the terraced area also had a mosaic tiled swimming pool and spa, which was pretty resort-like. Aside from that pool, I also loved the meditation building, it was so zen, and looked like a perfect spot to do some yoga too. While Liam's mansion was gorgeous, he once claimed it was haunted by Alan Perwin, the late aerial film operator who actually built the property. The singer once shared he had seen lights going on and off in the middle of the night, and a few other creepy things, like taps turning on and off. The haunted rumors started after Liam and his ex-girlfriend Cheryl Cole bought the house, and a neighbor brought it up saying, you've got a ghost in your house, he's called Alan. I guess we'll have to see if Halsey has any spooky experiences at the property. Of course, Liam also owns a longtime property in his homeland of England, which he bought in 2015. The approximately $7 million dollar country estate is located near the small town of Woking in Surrey, which is about 35 miles from central London. While we don't have many interior photos to go by, we do know that Liam carried out a major overhaul of the property back in 2018. The three-story mansion was transformed into the ultimate bachelor pad after Liam split with his baby mama Cheryl. They were together, they asked for approval on a number of renovations, but those plans dramatically changed when he became single. The new plans, which were revealed in 2018 and have since been carried out, included a two-story extension on the side of the mansion. On the ground floor of Liam's residence, he added a lavish indoor pool and sauna, while in the basement, there's a fitness suite and games room. Since 2017, he also had approved plans to convert one garage space into a massive billiards room. Talk about man cave. Another garage was converted so that it had an en-suite bedroom on the first floor, perfect for friends or family staying over. To complete his dream home, he turned the tennis courts into a football pitch, and placed an astronaut on the driveway to greet the guests. Either way, from what we can see, Liam's main mansion in Surrey is decidedly luxe and has all the amenities you could want. Not to mention, he purchased another stunning residence for his dad, mom, and older sisters Nicola and Ruth by his childhood home. At the end of 2020, it was also reported that Liam and his fiancee Maya Henry were renting out a mansion in Buckinghamshire. He decided to stay closer to where his 3-year-old son Bear lives with his mom, Liam's ex, Cheryl. Liam and Maya resided in a rented $17 million mansion with 7 bedrooms that looked more like a grand hotel from the curved staircase and towering hallways. Other features in the home included a billiards room, swimming pool, and home theater. The couple shared a number of photos from Christmastime at the Buckinghamshire mansion where they spent evenings in together and with friends. In a bunch of Instagram photos, Maya showed off the glamorous hall with carpeted staircase and an open dining area behind her. There was also a massive Christmas tree set up in the hall and the walls were lined with gold framed photos. Alright, so I think I'll wrap up our Liam Payne house tour here. I would definitely have to see more of the UK mansion for it to be a fair choice, but they both looked beautiful.
