Hey guys, what's going on? We are all the way in Brooklyn, which feels like a whole other world.
Yeah, this is my friend Mia. You guys might have seen her from Off the Great Wall.
We're trekking all the way here to Brooklyn because I just took you for a nice Yunnan meal.
Oh, it was so good.
If you guys want to check that out, the video, I'll put it in the description box.
But definitely go eat there. Then after you're done with the meal, you want some desserts, right?
Of course. Even though I'm so full, I still have room for dessert. Always have room for dessert.
And what's a good Asian dessert that you love?
Um, egg tarts.
Egg tarts. Okay, that's so stereotypical. Thank you so much.
And of course, by looking at the title of this video, we are talking about egg tarts today.
And we're at this place that my friend Crystal recommended.
I'm trying it for the first time. She recommended this place. It's called Xin Fa Bakery.
I'll put the address in the description box for you guys.
Hope you can hear me because there's very shrill voices everywhere.
It's so lively in here. Oh my gosh.
So this place is always packed. Right now it's like 5 o'clock on a Friday and this place is packed.
The key to this place is that they're supposed to have awesome egg tarts.
They're made to order. On every order.
And there's a blender. I hope everyone is able to hear this because I have no idea.
You gotta start yelling, Mike. Yeah, I'm already yelling.
So with the blender, I'm just saying, you have to call here to order the egg tarts.
I don't know if you can. Do they speak English? I have no idea.
I don't know. Maybe they speak basic. If you say egg tarts, 10, they'll get it.
Really? Yeah. Okay.
So I ordered 20 egg tarts because we have friends who will kill us when they see this.
Because we're such baddies.
Yeah, so I actually, you know, secretly I actually got them all for myself.
Those friends? I have no friends. They're just a cover.
I really have no friends. I just sit at home alone with egg tarts.
That's how I spend my evenings. Sad.
So sad. Oh my gosh, I didn't know this.
You didn't know that? I'm probably your only friend.
That's so sad.
But anyway, so I called in. I got 20. Well, they actually gave me 24.
I know. Four for free. Yeah, that's a lot of egg tarts.
So here they are. They just came out because you can see how they steamed up the container already.
You see it? They're nice and hot.
So let's open this up.
It's like Christmas morning.
Like it's going to pop out.
There you go.
Look at that. Look at that.
You see the nice star marks on the egg tarts?
Now you're an egg tart expert.
Well, I wouldn't say, I wouldn't call myself an egg tart expert.
But there was this egg tart place that I used to love in San Francisco.
Okay, I can't tell this about San Francisco.
I ate no good food in San Francisco.
Where did you go? I was trying to change your perception of that by the way.
Okay, well you're saying that place might be better than this place.
I don't know. We'll see.
And I don't know because I never had these before.
But I think, let me just talk, let's talk about the, you know, the appearances of these egg tarts.
Dude, these look legit.
This is really, right now, it's so delicate.
It's like about to break apart. I'm just barely holding on to it.
It's the size of half my hand.
And it's burning hot right now.
Which I never had an egg tart burning hot.
Because usually you get it from the display case.
Usually it's always cool.
Take a look at this guys.
Look at the char marks on that.
Here, take one. Take a bite.
Can I see it?
You can.
I'm so scared. I'm so sorry.
Let's take a bite.
This is like, what do you call it?
You know how you get the nice grill marks on steak?
I love that.
And these are the nice toasted marks on an egg tart.
Let me ask you something.
Look at how beautiful they are.
I gotta ask you something.
What?
Where did egg tarts originate?
Dude, you're throwing a curveball here.
Portuguese.
Good.
No way.
You got it.
Really?
How did you guess that?
Because these are Portuguese egg tarts.
Aren't they?
Oh yeah.
Isn't that what they're called?
That's good.
I didn't think you were going to get that.
Wait, seriously?
Yeah, Portugal.
It originated from Portugal.
It came to Hong Kong back in the early 1900s.
But these are, to the Asian population,
they're like, whoa, these are Chinese egg tarts.
But they're not.
So they're inspired when they came from Portugal.
Yeah.
I'm not even joking right now.
I'm so proud of myself now.
So they're made with, obviously, a really flaky crust.
And that's the signature.
Because the flakiness of the crust has to be...
You know, look at this, guys.
Look how flaky this is.
This is flaky off.
Flaking off.
Flaky off?
Is that a word?
Stop it.
It's raining flake.
And the inside, of course, is made with egg.
Usually egg whites.
Okay.
It's custard.
I know that.
They're good.
Yo, that's the size of one of your hands.
And the size of half my hand.
Wow.
Okay, this thing is so tender, right?
This is so dense.
So rich.
Are you ready?
I'm ready.
Cheers.
This is true.
I'll be all gentle with me.
Oh, I'm waiting for you here.
I'll be all civil.
Holy crap.
Oh my god.
It's melt in my mouth.
I gotta admit something to you.
I don't usually like egg tarts.
I don't.
You know what?
Holy crap.
It's making my lips delicious.
How is that happening?
Oh my god.
I don't usually like egg tarts because sometimes they're too eggy.
No, but this is not.
And these, guys, no joke.
Oh my god.
Thank you so much, Crystal.
Holy crap.
These literally fall apart in your mouth.
And you said they're gonna be really heavy.
They're actually not that heavy.
No, they're not.
They're extremely light.
The blender is on again.
The crust is almost like it's not there.
It's like air.
It's there, but it's not there.
It's like a magician.
The crust is a magician.
And I don't know what it is.
I gotta take another bite because I'm kind of confused here.
Hang on a second.
Why are you so confused?
What is it?
I gotta ask you something because you're like an egg tart aficionado.
Why is my lips tasting like fruits?
Apple.
Is this coming from the glaze?
There's a little tartness, sweetness on top, like the skin.
Yeah.
On top of the egg tart.
Yeah.
That goes really good with the filling.
Because the filling is, you know, it's definitely very eggy.
It's very creamy.
But the top of it somehow brings a pretty thin slice of sweetness to your lips.
I don't know what they have like on this, like on the top.
Like what's the glaze?
But it's just real.
You know what I'm talking about?
Did you taste it?
I can't really tell the fruitiness of it though.
It's sweet.
It's very nice.
It's sweet, yeah.
It balances out the egg tart or the egg flavor really nicely.
Oh my god.
Alright, I'm sold.
I'm sold.
Guys, if you're seeing this video right now, that means I ate this and I loved it.
Crystal, good suggestion.
Right, and that's why I'm suggesting it to you.
I don't suggest bad places to you guys.
Obviously.
So if you love egg tarts, you can watch me eat it in front of you.
Just kidding.
That's part of it.
Can I just say though, also?
I think you gotta get these hot.
I think that makes a difference.
Cold egg tarts, this, I've never had hot crusty egg tarts.
Well this is so fresh.
You know what this means though?
I'm gonna have to move to Brooklyn.
I want to move to Brooklyn.
It's worth it.
You know what this also means?
I'm not sharing these.
What?
I'm not sharing these tomorrow.
I have no friends.
What friends?
If you're watching and you're saying, Mike, I'm your friend.
You're supposed to bring me one tomorrow?
We are no longer friends.
That's not gonna happen.
You're not gonna see this tomorrow.
Sorry.
Just to let you know.
Friendship over.
Because of an egg tart.
You eat it so fast.
If there was a swimming pool of egg tarts.
I would just jump in.
And I would just eat my way out.
Oh my god.
Dude.
How good are these?
Dude.
How come I have not heard of this?
Okay, I think these are better than the ones in San Francisco.
Finally.
Slightly better.
Oh, you mean slightly better?
I really would love it.
You guys.
Those of you out there who are in the city or anywhere else.
Give me suggestions about really awesome food items.
Because I wouldn't be able to found these.
Unless, you know, for my friend Crystal.
It's in Brooklyn.
It's in this bakery in Brooklyn.
You know how many bakeries there are in New York City?
There's like 20 in one block of Chinatown.
And you won't see this usually on Yelp.
So that's the other thing you have to do.
You have to order ahead of time.
You just basically have to call them.
Just order like 50.
And take it home.
And then give to Mike.
Send it to Mike.
And keep in mind guys.
Because you heard it from me.
I get a cut of anything you order.
10% comes to me.
You order 10 egg tarts.
One of them is mine.
Alright guys.
So I'll put all the info for these awesome egg tarts in the description box below.
Go try them.
And then let me know if you like them or not.
Anyway.
I have like 3 of these.
I'm gonna take them home.
And today is Friday.
So I'm thinking Friends reruns and egg tarts.
Oh my gosh.
Actually really sad.
Sad existence.
Are you just gonna hide for the entire weekend?
You're gonna see me on Monday.
I would have gained like 3 pants sizes by then.
Forget the gym.
You're just gonna fat up.
I'm taking these to the gym.
And every time I lift once, I eat an egg tart.
Good idea.
Anyway guys.
Thank you so much for watching.
See you later.
Thanks for joining me this time.
Thanks for taking my food.
You're welcome.
You don't get any of these though.
