It's day like 35 or so. Yeah I don't even know what day it is so. Do you feel like we're making
progress? Is that a response? You said it all. Hey guys how's it going in here? It's hot. It's hot?
Oh I turned on one of those fancy fans we just installed.
How do you turn it on? Just push the button. Really? Yep. It's a mess.
Doing the hatches. Four down.
That's the important part exactly. Look at that. So cute.
Nice. Did y'all pick the color? Yeah. Y'all did? Yeah. I was wondering and the name or the?
Dinghy Deja Vu. Right? Yep. So we got a new dinghy and if you're asking why it's a very
legitimate question. We had a perfectly good dinghy. So what happened was after our video
on our dinghy swap and why we ended up going with a much smaller lighter non-center console
dinghy. Highfield had seen the video and they reached out and they said wow thanks so much.
Great video. Thank you for choosing a Highfield. And they said the only downside we noticed in your
write-up was that you said you wished you had gone with a larger size. The one size up. And
they said how about we upgrade you? And we of course we're not gonna say no. That was very nice.
Thank you. Yes please upgrade us. So they gave us the one size bigger which is just one foot. But
that one foot makes a big difference because now bringing on crew there are going to be more than
five people. And we had a five person dinghy. Now we have a six person dinghy. So we can
officially legally or I guess by the standards of our dinghy fit six people.
And now comfortably fit six people. We didn't get the this size from the get-go because Jason
was concerned that it wasn't going to fit between our sugar scoops. Based on Kent's recommendations.
Kent steer. Kent you steered me wrong on this one. He was just being on the safe side because
of the length. Granted that was before we knew we were bringing crew on. Yes and in between our sugar
scoops. Also just the smaller less complicated dinghy the better right? That was the thinking.
And this is still small it's just slightly bigger. Definitely oh they did the custom colors for it.
Yeah they let us choose our colors. You can do that. I had no idea you could do that. But you can custom
order and they have like a little set of swatches you can choose from. So we did the yellow to match
the boat and we named the dinghy. Which you saw in the video. Yes but it's Minion. My little Minion.
So I know. Okay. Who likes the new dinghy? We went with the Yamaha because we noticed there was no
dealers or service stations in the Bahamas. Which is kind of important. And we'll tell you more about
that another day when we're actually out cruising. Because it's pretty awesome. Right because I'm cut
off now. You're cut off. Is the ridiculousness. Got Rinaldo working away. Making zero progress here
in the cockpit. But hey look at this. Electronic. They're coming along.
How's it going in here? No power. No power. Nothing. I think the dock might be down.
Dock is down. Just getting a lot of work done. So we got no juice. No juice. We got lots of workers
though. That's good. Good check. Lots of phone calls. Lots of video to edit. Yeah. Oh my gosh.
Look at this place. Gorgeous. It's a thing of beauty. Yeah you should look down there too.
Oh no. Okay. Can you believe we live in this right now? And the only tidy space in the whole boat
is the cruise room. Which I have not introduced you to yet. Say hello. Hello. Okay quick tell us what
are your names? I'm Justin. I'm Dale. Okay and where were you right before you came to join us?
The Bahamas. Elytra and Nassau Bahamas. And what were you doing there? Scuba diving. Scuba diving.
Sailing. Snorkeling. Snorkeling. On what? Tell us your uh vessel. Oh uh 65 foot monohull. We motor
sailed. The engine broke down. Oh see we're getting broken into boating life already. Yep. Yeah. So
but how many people were on that 65 foot boat? So there was 18. There were 18 people plus I think
about five crew members. Six. Or six crew members and the engine broke down on our first night.
So they had to repair the engine next to one of the heads which left us with only two heads for
the whole boat. So two heads for 20 something people? Yes. Nice. So um how are your accommodations
in comparison? It's luxurious. Amazing. We have our own room. Five stars. Yeah we also had bunk beds on the
other boat we were previously on. Yeah. And uh where do you hail from? I hail from Cochrane,
Ontario. And Alberta. And where do you live? Sherwood Park, Alberta. Alberta. Okay cool. And
why did you want to come aboard? So we could learn sailing. Because we want to buy a boat. We want to
buy our own boat. So we want to learn as much as we can. Just do our adventure and learn it yeah.
All right. Are you excited to be on board? Yes. Super excited. Are you excited about all the work going on?
Yes. Yeah there's a lot of work. But it's really exciting. Twice. At least twice. Every time.
Yeah every job has to be done twice because the first time. No not good enough. It doesn't work.
Ever. Boating 101. Yes. All right awesome. What are you reading? Sailing Made Easy.
I'm editing a video. Nice. Okay I'll let you get back to it. Thanks.
This is their break time. They've been helping a lot. Yeah we haven't had much
downtime yet. This isn't typical. Lazy crew. Lazy.
On the tills. What's going on? Rigging in the rigging. Control chaos.
Getting the mask back on. Excited and nervous.
Right before the raid. Yeah. The flag's flying straight. That's the problem. Yeah. Well that's
okay. I'm fairly certain that Kent said if anything breaks or goes wrong he'll just buy us a new one
right? You guys touched it. They touched the rig. Yeah they're four. So all liability is
nullified. That's on camera. I saw Jason touch something quite a lot up there as well.
We have the mast back on today. Super exciting. We have Justin our new crew already hard at work.
He's up on the, not the mast. The genoa furler. The genoa furler. Cleaning it all up since we
put it back on today after laying in the grass for two weeks. It had lovely little grass stains
and everything else all over it. So he's up there cleaning that up. Dale's learning how to work the
lines and how to raise somebody up. And yeah. General progress here aboard Curiosity. So it's
good. And Justin how you doing up there? Doing awesome. Coming clean. What do we have guys?
Something we normally say. New toys. New toys. It's so new. It's so new.
I'm not gonna lie everyone. These things weigh a ton. That's why you get strong crew.
Oh it actually has a handle. Oh man I didn't see that. The super fancy expensive one does not.
That means this one's fancy. Nice. So what the deal is for the price of servicing this one,
let me adjust my exposure, for the price of servicing this one which is now 10 years old
and has been expired for a couple years, would be about the same price as buying this one brand new.
That is why we got a new life raft. Does it fit? Yeah. Sweet. Shut it.
Nicely done guys. Nice. I was really hoping it would be a tiny bit smaller.
We're going on a test sail. Gonna see if everything is working as it should be. Make
sure we're all dialed in. Test sail means we are close to being done. Almost done.
Only 30 days later than we thought. It's nobody's fault but mine. I'm happy to blame it on you.
As Kent shakes his head no. No doubt folks.
Excuse me what was that? I'm gonna drive us out this time.
For the first time. I was gonna say have you ever driven out of this marina? I don't think so.
I'm ready. I'm ready. I got support. Jail cut $20.95 an hour. Yeah exactly.
We got rub rails now what could go wrong? Yeah Kent's happy to let you drive. We like it yeah.
Full speed on cold engine. Go. Kent's gonna get some drone footage. Yep we lost the last one so
there's a new model out now so we're looking to lose this one.
Say good morning. Good morning. She forced me to say that.
No pressure. Kent's just recording from the drone and mocking me.
So far so good. It's his loving way of encouraging you. Exactly.
It's like family love. Drive it. Give a noogie. It's not your own. Give a noogie and a punch in
the shoulder. It'll be all right. It'll be okay. How is it? It's uh there's no wind so I don't feel
like much of a boss at the moment. All right you guys let me know if it's clear up front.
I'll tell you if it's clear. It's a new way of navigating. I can't trust you. By drone? By drone.
We can get advanced warning. Boat's coming.
Nothing like a little boat traffic first thing in the morning. I know right. What are they doing
out here? It's eight o'clock on Tuesday. You excited about the test sail? Every day that you
get to sail is exciting. Absolutely. Good answer. Very good answer. How about you Dale? Are you
excited? I'm so excited. We're leaving the marina. You've only been here like two weeks
longer than you expected to be. Yeah a little bit longer but we're going sailing today.
Look at all the fancy new navigation. So what we're seeing is our GPS heading is 30 degrees
and our flagscape compass on the autopilot is 15. So what we're going to do is go and
calibrate that and see. So because we do want that to be more accurate. It'll never be fully
accurate but it should be close. It should be close yeah. Bringing the boat to cruising speed
with the engines at a constant rpm. The autopilot will drive the boat to please the tags. Yeah and
more out to sea. It's super intuitive for sure. Not a complicated process. Hit the buttons,
follow instructions. Dale you gonna catch some fish? Oh yeah the lucky lure is on.
Like any minute, any minute. What are we catching? Mahi-mahis and we're gonna fish tacos. Nice.
Seven degrees. Seven degrees. What's seven degrees? That's called ending up at the wrong island. Yeah
so we're seeing a variance between the flagscape and the GPS and the variance right now is true
and magnetic so we are bang on. Bang on. That means I did a really good job calibrating it. Yeah
it's all me baby. He's got a job. What do you got? Oh it's a monster.
Oh you scored that one. Sushi guy. Hey hold on. You released him to the sea. Good man.
Back to his home so he can get his friends.
For the boat to pass the sea trial now the question is can you pass the sea trial? Can you dock it?
All by myself. Kent's running late so he's gonna jump off like a
bat at a you know what and uh. You're not supposed to say that.
So yeah I'm gonna be docking it by myself. Well I mean not by myself. I got you Nikki.
I got everybody watching and uh yeah we're not gonna roll the action cam just in case.
Jason you docked the boat like a pro. You didn't wreck it. Good job. I didn't wreck it. Oh man but
this dock is hot. I'm hot and sweaty. How was your first sea trial? Amazing. Gotta go out,
caught one fish, did some sailing. Does that count as a fish? It's a fake fish actually.
Rigged just for entertainment. How was your sea trial? It was awesome
and that fish totally counts. It came on board.
We'll get our mahi once we're out at sea. Oh yeah we're having fish tacos one day.
Where is this plug in? Oh here we go. I'm done as well. Okay now I'm ready. What are you doing?
I'm recording. You. I didn't know we were starting yet. We are. Okay well we're starting. 13 seconds ago.
We have drones. We have lots and lots of drones. Well okay we have two drones but we have two
drones. We have our old drone that was broken and is now fixed. We sent it off to DJI and they fixed
it. It was a motherboard issue and even though we were technically out of our warranty period they
fixed it anyway at no charge so that was super awesome. Great customer service there. And then
we got this one back in and we thought huh maybe we should still get a new one just in case anything
else happens again because now it's a couple years old. So we had the Mavic Pro in our cart
like ready to hit the purchase button and lo and behold we got an email from somebody in the
marketing department for DJI and they said would you like to review our new Mavic Pro? We were like
yes we would love to review the new Mavic Pro. No strings attached. No strings. This is not an
endorsement. No but of course they did give us the drone for review purposes. So super exciting.
Thank you DJI. And now we've got this one and this one and the features are drastically different.
The sizes are well obviously very different. Cute plane. All right I've not flown this one yet which
is why we are out here today. Ready? One, two, it's labeled somewhere else. It says three and four but we're
gonna go ahead and no definitely this one out first. See told you. Have not messed with this.
No that was supposed to be a test flight. We were gonna kind of see the difference between
the cameras but sadly old trusty wasn't being so old and trusty anymore. So yeah I don't
know maybe he's not actually fixed. We'll give it a go another day. Gotta charge the battery now.
Tango. Okay well test flight one complete. Not successful but complete.
Watch the roof. You're like a gremlin crawling out of a cave.
Extra 12 hours maybe 15. All right don't get all sad.
You're gonna miss us. You know you are. We're gonna miss you. I know. Unbelievably we will miss you.
Thank you. Are you all teary-eyed too? It's sad to say goodbye. I gotta go pay somebody.
