Deanna Ronaldo, one of the very best players the world has ever seen.
Along the front, he's a dangerous player. He's got all the attributes to be the best player in the world.
Arguably he is the best player in the world.
I suppose coming back I'll just prove that for the club I'm coming to.
As a Northern Ireland player, for some of the Northern Ireland players, this is bound to be potentially a career highlight.
Certainly somebody like Lee Hodgson coming in, he can say it.
Let's hope the lads are committed to it.
But not here tonight so far.
This is Matinho, and it's Alves!
And that's the danger of Alves.
That's a free header. The movement's good, but nobody picked him up.
He runs about seven or eight yards across the edge of the penalty area, and he gets a free header.
Matinho, can he place the ball onto the dangerous head of Alves?
And it comes to Alves!
And Alves does score!
But it's not with the head, it's with the foot.
And Portugal dampen the famous Windsor Roar.
Well, it's a well-rehearsed goal.
The ball into the near post is good.
They've got the initial touch, but we don't attack the second ball.
And Bruno Alves, for a second half, he plays it really well with instep.
And again, I don't think he's been marked tightly enough here.
He's just inside the penalty area.
I don't know what he is. He's unblocked.
He can't see. Roy is totally blocked by, I think, the view.
Great skills by Ronaldo.
Twisting and turning away from Steve Davis.
Well, we know what he's all about, Mark.
202 goals in 202 games for Real Madrid, 40 goals for Portugal.
Look at the skill here. That is fantastic.
And now Ronaldo.
Ronaldo again, showing good skill, and winning the free kick.
Here's Varinha. Here's Ronaldo.
Ronaldo again. Ronaldo caught by Brent.
And is Chris Brunt... Is he going to get...
It is his first, but it's maybe a wee bit.
He was injured for that match.
Lopez played full-back.
And this is Varinha, now, control.
And here's Mardelez, good movement.
And here is Varinha again, shaping himself.
And Roy Carroll, this time, just manages to stretch far enough.
The big right-mid came out there.
He was sneaking in the near post, and he's got his hand to it.
But clever interchange of play here between...
Well, it was Varinha who got the shot off,
but Raul Morelis does well as also.
And Varinha coming in on his right foot.
That's a problem. There's everybody back in their penalty area for Portugal now.
Macaulay makes a run.
In comes Macaulay!
And another European giant begins to feel the winter heat.
What's the run from the big guy?
He gets in among the men.
They're all standing in the six-yard box,
and he starts to make his run, he attacks it.
Gets up above everybody early.
Yes, here is Postega.
No danger.
Well off the target. He was off-balance as well, Hélio Postega.
I'm not really overly bothered if they're going to shoot from this sort of range from Postega.
If it was Ronaldo, I might be a little more concerned,
but Postega's renowned for his match.
We pushed for it at the end, Marc.
We could have sat back and taken the draw, but we didn't.
We went for the victory, and they beat us on the counter-attack.
And here's Postega!
And Roy Cowell makes a good save.
Shot off and well done.
This is a better save, though, from Hélio Postega.
Set up by Ronaldo, great strike.
Roy Cowell.
Davidson filled that space, but he's given the ball away to Veloso.
Veloso plays it to Contral.
Contral!
And he does well, getting a shot off through the legs, I think, of Jonny Evans.
Postega and Gareth McCauley just coming together.
Postega is off!
The referee deciding there will be no nonsense here,
and they've lost their top scorer,
and he's booked Ronaldo, the captain as well.
Well, what a 15 seconds here at Windsor Park.
They could have pressed the disrupt button,
because he's had a go at Gareth McCauley,
but Gareth McCauley's asked him what the problem is,
and he moved his head forward.
Now, Gareth didn't go down,
but the referee saw enough of it to give him the red card.
Let's see this again.
I think he's shouting, he says,
what's this all about?
Box!
And a header comes in!
And it's Jimmy Ward on the line!
...had a great qualifying campaign for Portugal,
and that was a bit of a...
It's got to be another yellow card, is it?
It is.
Well, Brunt has to go, and he knows it.
Well, the drama increases here at Windsor Park.
Red card for Northern Ireland,
red card for Chris Brunt,
and is that going to give Portugal their way back in?
Coutinho.
Lafferty has stripped him, ready to come on.
Here is Veloso, shapes himself!
Great save by Roy Carroll!
Oh, incredible goalkeeping!
That's some save.
What a strike from Veloso as well.
I think it actually hits the top of the crossbar.
Let's have a look at it again.
Fabulous strike here, he winds this one up,
brilliant strike,
big Roy's right hand gets to it,
and it lands just on top of the back of the crossbar and the net.
It comes in, and...
Nani again.
Nani steps inside this time,
and fancies a crack at Evans.
Has to clear away the save from Roy.
Well, I know this is a Nani chance,
inside and out.
Veloso.
Trouw gets the ball in,
and Ronaldo's there again!
Ronaldo was unmarked,
and he's the skipper, the saviour.
Heartbreak.
Well, Ronaldo unmarked,
and he heads the six-yard box.
It's a no-no.
Mark, obviously, that's a great ball in,
but he should be marked tighter than that.
Here's the cross coming in here.
You can see...
You're not a god, Clare.
Trust me, Mark.
Oh boy, that's for sure, Gerry.
Oh, it's another red card!
Kyle Lafferty can't believe it as he looks up.
A third!
Yes, you heard it right.
A third red card at Windsor Park.
It's unbelievable.
Well, let's see, does he get any part of him?
Coming in late, he's caught him,
he's kicked into him,
but I think the players...
Well, Ronaldo's on a hat-trick.
I've seen him take free kicks,
and he can certainly hit the ball.
He'll aim straight for Pepe,
and then Pepe will pull out of the wall.
That's the idea.
Ronaldo!
Superstar!
Well, once the two players,
the red shirt,
are the best players in the world,
if not the best player in the world.
Here's the difference between
Portugal winning tonight,
and losing.
We've even got some applause
from Amarin.
Look at the smile.
Now here's...
Nani.
Work from Nani.
Is this going to be number five?
And cleared off the line.
It was the substitute,
Amarin, with the strike.
Well, Nani is tantalising,
twisting past two, three players.
And he's pulled it back,
hit the target,
but it's deflected for the corner.
Well, there's the final whistle,
and there is the star
at Windsor Park
on this cold and wet Friday night.
It's Ronaldo.
He's all smiles
after that hat-trick.
He was quiet in the first half,
and then he got the first header in.
The second one, he was unmarked.
And nobody else was going to take that free kick
with the captain on a hat-trick.
And Ronaldo...
