We hop the train using our every handy Pasmo cards (seriously, these things made our trip SO much easier. We've read that you can't get around Kyoto by train and have to take busses. We did not find that to be true. We did most of our transport in the Kyoto area using the train/subway and it worked wonderfully. As we walk through the main street of Arashiyama there is no doubt this is a BIG tourist attractions as the streets are literally clogged with tourists (like us) but that can't take away from the absolute beauty of this place which sports several UNESCO sites. The highlights for us were the Monkey Park and the Bamboo Forest where we happened across a real Geisha our doing Geisha business! So cool! The Bamboo Forest was way more beautiful than expected and despite the crowds is firmly planted on our "don't miss this" list.

There's a bunch of famous temples and the bamboo walk is down here.

Hey yo look. We're gonna go look at monkeys.
I see a pigeon. Does that count as a monkey?

Why bother taking pictures before you get to this? Check this out.
The natural beauty of Japan is truly amazing.
There's Katie. There's monkeys.
There's a big red-faced macaque.
The monkeys are on the outside of the cage. The humans are on the inside.
From our experience, much safer that way.
This is so cool. They have a whole Cub Scout pack up here.
Love seeing Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts out. Awesome memories.
Faces are so good. Looks like it's painted on.

Really the only challenging part of traveling by rail in Japan
is getting out of the Kyoto train station. Signs need exiting.
These are the sexy pajamas that we get at our hostel.
The men and women each have their own spa bathrooms.
So we get these so that we can go down to our spa bathrooms
and take showers and lounge around in the pool.
But only men.
You lounged in your jammies?
Well you're supposed to go naked.
