If you already know that you want to grow fish or grow aquaponics vegetables then the basic idea of the system is the same. The difference is that you will be growing fish in a closed system instead of an open environment like the outdoor garden. There are two types of aquaponics setup for beginners, the hydroponic system and the system.
For beginners, the best place to find aquaponics information is from reputable aquaponics kick starter kit. These kits contain everything that you need to get started. Some of these kits even include the aquaponic design plans so you know from the onset what you are getting into. The kick starter kits are very inexpensive and can be picked up for less than $100.

The next thing that you should know for beginners is how an aquaponics design works. The way that the system works is based on biological principles. Aquaponics involves three main components: the water bottle, the pump, and the biological filter. The water bottle contains water and the air-pump forces this water through the filter where the waste material is filtered. The biological filter takes out the harmful nitrites, nitrates, and ammonia from the water while keeping beneficial bacteria and other organisms alive.

For the third component of the system, the biological filter needs to be replaced or cleaned periodically. Aquaponics kick starter kits will tell you the different filtration methods available. Some of the options that your kit will explain to you are UV light filtration, sub-micron filtration, and carbon filtration. These methods are used to keep the water clean and healthy and to maintain the health of the fish as well.

You may also need a few supplies to get off to a good start. Aquaponics kits will mention a fish tank, fish food, and other nutrients. All of these things are important to help you get off to a good start. You will find that the fish tank supplies sold in most DIY stores will suffice. You just have to make sure that the fish tank has a cover so that things are not exposed to UV rays that can be harmful.

One of the best things about this system is that you will be able to control the quality of the water, nutrients, and environment. This means that you can customize your aquaponics setup to exactly what you need. There are many benefits to setting up your own fish tank and making it part of an aquaponics system, and you will find that most DIY aquaponics setup for beginners include this process. If you do not include this step, you will find that your fish tanks will be polluted, have low oxygen, and possibly disease-causing bacteria.
