Unforgettable Night of Sadio Mane & Mohamed Salah

Well, good evening and welcome to the year. And 2019, who finally win their first ever Afro. But for now, let me hand you to your commentary. Somehow, by any means. It's so often they get the job done. You're not seven times winners this competition. The contrast in styles in sports always makes for fantastic occasions. Down the left-hand side, Sadio Mane's side for Senegal. Stopped in his tracks by Mohamed Abdelmanou, who has been excellent all tournament final in 2019. The only goal of that one came in the second minute. Algeria 1-1-0. Got more heroics left in him. That one, guys. Slightly to the goalkeeper's right. He's blasted this one. And Gabaski has kept another one out. Yeah, I'm not sure that was actually necessary from Sadio. It won't necessarily be evident in the opening 45, even 60 minutes. But if the game is played up. It's been Mane. But he's a patient player. It's Salah. First chance to maybe test that Senegal defence. Which way is he going to go? Outside. Brilliantly done. Nobody can apply the last touch. Dietou. Mane. Neither. Abdelwahel for two. Carlos Queiroz. Bouna Sarr. Mane. Cisse. Mane. Great ball is in from Sadio Mane. Salah wriggles away from one. Shuffles past two. Neat little sidestep as well. And it's his first shot on target of the game. Nautilus battling with Abdelmanem. Mane is trying to tear past him. But Abdelmanem wasn't having it. Salah. Cross came. Mane just gets on with it. Short to show for it. Two to stop Mane. Took his time, the referee. Signaling out to Senegalese. Missed it. Senegal in. Mane. The club sights. Here's Salah. Salah goes for it. Brilliant save that from Edou Mendy. Mustafa Mohamed with the chest down for Salah. He won't be allowed to shoot. He did with Senegal. I don't think there was going to be a free kick anyway. It's Mane. There might be now. There is. And what a position for him. Mane was being tracked by El Salier. And in the end... I like so much Mane. Just 10 or 12 yards infield. Bouna Sarr's on for the return. Beats El Wench to it. Clumsy challenge. Good goalkeeping from Gabaski. Found a couple of ways through. This is Mane's position. There he is, dropping into the pocket. Ground body inside. They've got speedy players. Pretty well saved by Gabaski. Cease is in the centre here. You can see in the eyes of the players now. 17 second half minutes gone. Just come on as a substitute. Twight on it's start. Mane. The ref's view. Assure left down. He's got acrobatic clearance. I thought Mane was just going to take on... Senegal. And a missed altogether by M.M. Assure. Who's then caught by the challenge of Mane. Unnecessary Sadio Mane. And the referee. The first that's helped now up top. Trezeguet. Salah. It's down side. Senegal have actually not run out of the way. Mane pursued by Abdel Mordem. To keep his feet. Took up a huge... Here's Mane. Penalty miss early on in the game. At this point I think... Yaya. You have a good shoot from 40 yards. How this is going to play out. Dealt with Sadio Mane pretty well. Pensive Egyptian supporters. Let's go through it with you. Here's Mane. Just outside the area. Abdel Mordem not happy with the way... The actual pharaoh. Finds a way through to Salah. Finds a way back to Assure. Valencia this time. Straight to Elneny. It is golden goal time now. Pass. Goals in the final of the... I wonder what we're going through. That man's now... That man's... See the nerves. Here he comes. And... Taking a penalty looks second nature. How will he deal with this moment? He'll score. Speech of Gavasky. Two out of... Beautiful looking Carlos Queiroz. The defender. And... Heroics left. Strike. He takes on Mendy. And score. I would have preferred it if it was going to be... Kick it. Beautifully. Before. Run from the left. And save. Has to be Mane doesn't it? Has to be. Do it again. Or it will be Senegal. Sadio Mane's life. Mane scores. For the first time ever. Senegal are the kings of their continent. Big moments. So many stories from this tournament. So many stories. Emotional moments. Look at that for a picture. Contrasting emotions right now. Penalty shootouts are how difficult they can be. But I think on... It wasn't like it was his best ever. But the fact is the fight was there. Think of all the conversations we were having in the lead up to this. Not that day. Because maybe he was... It's a truly great moment for himself. He's been along with that journey. I think at times we're sort of guilty of... I think Koulibaly was brilliant. We talked about Gabasky. Ismail Assar was sensational. I thought throughout. For me it's a great advert for African football. Because... The Senegalese they know. When it really mattered. He was there to stick away that penalty. You must have this one. You must have the privilege. Pay the respect as my host. As Mohamed Salah leads his team. Talk us through the lifting. It's nice to see a team. African Patrice Montsepi. Gianni. Are the champions. Of all Africa. You've got a good chance of winning the game. Or at least not losing it. We definitely saw that today.
