Well, we are going to actually get out of this apartment
We've been here for almost three months now. Yeah in a few days it will literally be three months and our anniversary
Yeah, our wedding anniversary. Yeah, we've been announced COVID free yet. There's still restrictions in place
I think that's just gonna be for a while, but it's kind of a weird thing. Yeah, we're allowed to
gather in groups again, we're leaving
Waialoa Loa going to
I guess we'll find out
Sick of living out of this suitcase
Just want to point out that my bag is more stuffed because I carry all of our toiletries, but I carry all the cameras
No, we both carry all the cameras
Clothes cameras computers
Food. Yeah, that's it
I'm Nikki and this is Jason for the past 10 years. We've been traveling and exploring the world
Living off the grid and using our home as our mode of transportation
But the pandemic changed our world when the borders closed and we've been stranded in Fiji ever since
After three months in isolation Fiji is coronavirus free
And now we're on a mission to explore this big beautiful rock and get to know the people
We just got here my stinking sunglasses broke
Okay, well
We're here
And that's our ride
And you'll recognize the guy on that boat. It's Ted
Meet our amazing friend Ted
Ted and Kim live here in Fiji follow our channel and reached out when they saw we were stuck
First they were our escape out of isolation. And now they're a lift to our next salty adventure
I start going forward and then if you can unlasso the front one, okay ready
Easy peasy. Hey, we're out
Oh
There's always this sense of release as we head out to sea
Like a weight being lifted as if I'd been running around unknowingly with a backpack full of rocks on
But I didn't expect that feeling today
I mean, this isn't our boat and we're not headed for distant shores and yet here I am with that same familiar feeling
Bringing the main up
Yeah, okay, these are all the little like they look like wasps, but I guess they are mud daubers
Cuz this is one of their nests. Okay. So what do they do again? Well, it looks like they
Kill spiders and then put it in there as food for the larvae. So crazy
Those are ugly looking spiders too
Like science class out here today, thanks professor Ted
My sunglasses broke but luckily Ted had a pair and these are actually pretty cool. They're called
Golden coconut
Creations they're made locally here in Fiji and I don't know if you can see that
But there's this really awesome carving because they're made out of wood
so I
Might not give them back
So tell me about your boat real quick. What are we on? It's a
1994 Fontaine Peugeot Tobago 35 feet. It's a nice old boat. It's perfect for coastal cruising Fiji
Yeah
This three cabin one head cat is eight feet shorter than ours and while it's considerably smaller
It still feels spacious and is fun to sail
We asked Ted and Kim if they'd consider keeping this boat for their future around the world adventures and the answer from both was no
For full-time Kim wants something with a little more space a shower set up to single hand and an electric winch
Ted being the pilot that he is want something more performance-based, but they both agree as their first sailboat. It's perfect
Poor Lily has passed out with her burger in her hand
Feel very fortunate that we met Ted and Kim and all of the Neal family here in
Fiji because they have kind of been
well, our
Some of our only friends not only you know, it's a little hard to socialize whenever you're not supposed to socialize
So it's been nice to be able to get to know them and it's nice to have friends
It's such incredible sailing here you're protected by reef and all these little islands so the water is super calm
It's been a beautiful day 10 knots of wind. We've been cruising at like five six knots of speed
There's islands posted all around and dotted and reef and it's blue water and God, it feels good to be out here. Oh
We're so grateful to be out here, you know also very sad that was on our own boat, but hey
Beggars can't be choosers. This is just awesome. I'm very happy. Very very happy to be out here. Just a lovely
Lovely day
Man hand line, I don't think we caught anything
Feel so weird
This autopilot. It's got like
Yeah, it's got like this plasticky feel. Yeah bearings
Feels more like a car than like a big boat. Also, there's the wheels small
Different. Yeah, it's weird. It's uh
Screw it up. I'll get it on video
You're welcome
Yeah, I'm not gonna kill it
You're my hole-in-hole
You think I should have told them that I don't know how to drive the boat
Before he let me take that
Job of driving up to the mooring ball
It's normally your job
It's always fun on somebody else's boat
Welcome to musket Cove the legendary cruisers lounge of Fiji
And just because it's our first day back at sea mother nature decided to greet us at our mooring with a strong at southeasterly wind
Right
Probably in the morning. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, hopefully in the morning
weather is gotten a bit crappy so
We're running
Prepare to get wet
We got hands
This is mark. He's our new South African friend
crewmate and captain of Superyacht Millennium
There's no turning back
Leave your message here on the telephone because we've no idea when we're coming home
