You can make tasty moist cookies without ever turning on the oven with this classic recipe
for no-bakes submitted by Allrecipes member Sherry T. As one member exclaims, wow, what
a blast from the past.
I've always loved these cookies and now my children do too.
You can get started by laying out some parchment or wax paper on cookie sheets to set the dough
when it's ready.
Then in a large bowl, add 3 cups of quick cooking oats, half a cup of crunchy peanut
butter, and 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract.
One Allrecipes member suggests adding a cup of shredded coconut here as well, so let's
do it.
Stir the mixture together and set it aside for now.
Next, in a medium saucepan over medium heat, add 3 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa, 2
cups of sugar, half a cup of milk, and half a cup of butter.
Stir the mixture and bring it to a boil gradually.
Gradually is the key word here.
The cookies will turn out better if the ingredients are boiled slowly.
Boil for between 90 and 120 seconds.
Make sure to use a timer.
If you let this boil for too long, the cookies will turn out crumbly.
Remove the mixture from the heat and pour it over the oatmeal mix.
Stir the dough together well to combine.
Now, using a couple of tablespoons or an ice cream scoop, drop the dough on the wax paper
to set.
Flatten them with the backside of a spoon sprayed with vegetable oil.
Let the cookies cool completely before serving.
No-bakes are an old-time favorite that are sure to bring you back to your childhood and
as all recipes member Lori MD notes, there's no better or easier cookie to make with the kids.
