Today we're making five more boba drinks to round out your summer.
We're going to start with a strawberry guava white tea slushie.
So first into the blender I'm going to add a bowl of ice, this is about a cup here, and
then some fresh strawberries.
Here I have six large ones.
If you wanted to use frozen strawberries you can just take down the amount of ice.
Some guava juice to sweeten everything up and give it that tropical essence.
Some white tea and a small splash of coconut milk to make it creamy.
If you don't want milk in your tea here you can totally just leave it out.
Cover it up and just give it a whirl.
If you guys want the full recipe or ratio I'll list it in the description box below.
It looks perfect, there's a layer of frothiness that I really love, but let's pour this into
a glass with some boba.
So in my last video I had a lot of questions about how I cook the boba, and to be honest
with you I just cook it according to the package's directions.
But all I did after cooking it was soak it into either maple syrup or a brown sugar syrup
to sweeten it up.
In this case I used maple syrup.
It just adds like a light sweetness, you know?
So I'll add a nice scoop of boba into the bottom of my glass, and then we're gonna pour
our strawberry guava white tea mixture right on top.
I love how there's a nice layer of foam on top so that it makes our drink look extra
frothy.
In here you have the most beautiful, refreshing, pink, frothy drink.
That is super refreshing on a hot day.
The citrusy notes from the guava just kinda hits you when you get that hint of white tea,
which is very delicate and balanced with the strawberry and the coconut milk is just so...
You guys have to try this one, it's my favorite.
So this next one is gonna be a tropical take on matcha.
Don't worry guys, we are gonna get to some classics very soon, but this one is a matcha
pineapple coconut blend, and trust me, it is so delicious.
I'm gonna start by blooming or dissolving my matcha.
I have one teaspoon of matcha powder and I'm gonna add it into this bowl along with some
hot water to mix it all up.
And then to fully dissolve my matcha, I always like using an aero latte whisk.
It has a lot more power than just your traditional matcha whisk.
My little hack there.
And now we get into the fun mixology work.
Into my shaker, I'm gonna add some ice, and then I'll add in our matcha, then some pineapple
juice.
My pineapple juice is unsweetened, so I'm gonna add a dash of simple syrup, which is
basically a mixture, an equal mixture of sugar and water.
Dissolve.
And then finally, to give it a very creamy mouthfeel, I'm gonna add some coconut milk.
Close it up, and should I say let's give it a mix, mix, mix, or shake, shake, shake?
Either one works.
So now we'll just add some boba to the cup.
If you guys frequent Starbucks, you'll know that the last one was semi-inspired by their
menu, and so is this one.
I found this one on their menu yesterday, and it was so delicious, I had to recreate
it.
Some ice, and our matcha.
Except for the pineapple, I looked up their ingredients, and their pineapple juice was
a pineapple ginger syrup, which if you wanted to add a hint of ginger powder, you could
too, but I just thought regular pineapple would work so well.
The most delicious afternoon pick-me-up, and I'm gonna say it's better than Starbucks,
because Starbucks doesn't have boba, but also this is really, really good.
Our next one is a classic jasmine green milk tea.
Now I had to do this one because I was super surprised by how many of you guys asked me
to create or make this flavor.
I didn't realize it was so popular, but apparently it is.
For the tea, I'm using just this one by NuMe.
I brew it really strong so that the flavors really come through, just because jasmine
green tea is so floral, and you really want those notes to shine.
Here is my already brewed jasmine green tea.
For this one, I used three teabags, and I steeped it for four minutes, and then I just
let it cool down.
I'm gonna add it into my shaker.
For milk teas, I always love using the shaker, just because it blends it really well, but
you can just pour it into your glass if you don't have one.
I like my milk teas just slightly sweet, so I'm gonna add some simple syrup, just about
a tablespoon.
And then let's talk about the milk.
For my milk teas, I generally like dairy milk.
Whole milk makes it nice and creamy.
Half and half makes it even better.
Today I'm just using whole milk, but if you guys wanted to sub for non-dairy milk alternatives,
I would highly suggest oat milk, just because it's creamier.
And by now, you guys know the drill.
Let's add some boba, extra ice.
I love how tea shops now let you kind of alter how much ice or sugar you want in your drink,
and I'm usually a light ice kind of gal, but I want to know how you guys like your milk
teas, so just comment below.
I love the color of milk tea.
It's just like a beautiful, yellow, creamy hue, and this is the perfect blend.
25% sweetness, light ice, extra boba.
Our next one is inspired by a fruity sangria, but sometimes I just don't want alcohol in
the afternoon, so I'm opting for some tea, fruity tea.
Okay, so into my shaker, I'm going to add some fruits.
Here I have some fresh summer peaches that I've already sliced up.
Drop it in.
Some diced up strawberries, raspberries.
I always love when drinks have raspberries in them.
And finally, some blueberries, just a little bit.
And then with my muddler, I'm just going to go in and smash them slightly.
I don't want them totally crushed, just kind of enough so that the juices can be extracted.
Looks good.
I'll add a splash of orange juice, you know, instead of orange liqueur.
I thought this was so perfect for the video, I found some unsweetened southern honeysuckle
tea.
Like, how perfect is that?
And speaking of honeysuckle, I wanted to let you guys know that my first cookbook will
be coming out next month, and I'm actually starting a pre-order campaign on August 10th.
So if it's past that, go ahead and check out the link in the description box below.
But there will be some special goodies for everyone who pre-orders.
Pre-ordering really helps the author get distributed across bookstores because it shows that people
are actually interested in the cookbook.
So if I don't get any pre-orders, that means my book will not be sold in stores.
So I would really appreciate if you guys are thinking about maybe getting the cookbook
to please check out the pre-order campaign and see what extra bonuses you're going to
get because I promise you it'll be worth it.
Back to the video, I'm going to pour my honeysuckle tea into the shaker, cap it, and we'll shake
it up.
I'm going to fill this up three quarters of the way full, and then you'll see my last
trick.
We're going to add some fizziness to it, so I'm going to add some sparkling grapefruit
water.
It smells so fruity and citrusy.
I can just sit back on my porch, rocking chair, and sip this all afternoon.
The next one we're going to be making is the ubiquitous taro milk tea.
Now when you go to milk tea houses, they usually make this one with a powder, and I don't really
like that.
But some really good ones, like Fika Fika in San Gabriel Valley, they make it with real
taro and it's delicious.
Taro is a root, it has this purple hue, and in Asian cultures, it's used in both sweet
and savory dishes.
I already cooked it up, I cut it into chunks like this, and I boiled it for 12 minutes
so it's nice and soft.
So now I'm going to add it to my blender.
Milk.
I always try to pour double the amount of milk that I have of taro.
So I have one cup of taro, two cups of milk.
A little bit of vanilla extract, condensed milk.
The taro has a really nutty flavor, but I just want to sweeten it up with condensed
milk.
You can also use brown sugar, but I just like the flavor of this better.
And then a little bit of ice.
Oh, also one more thing.
Typically, taro milk tea is not caffeinated, but if you wanted to, you can add some black
tea to this and blend it up as well.
I'm just going to keep mine decaf.
Look at that beautiful purple color.
It's all natural from the actual taro.
No powders needed.
So taro tea with the real kind tends to be a little bit thick.
If you guys want it thinner, just add more milk or tea or water.
But I like it nice and thick.
My friend in college used to compare taro milk tea to vanilla, and I totally get where
she gets that.
It has that vanilla essence to it, but it's nutty, creamy, and just delicious.
