Ikea has always been one of my favorite stores for affordable room decor! Today I wanted to share how to create 3 different Ikea hacks that are super affordable but also extremely useful and cute! Let me know which project was your favorite!
T H A N K Y O U Thanks so much for watching and I hope you enjoyed. Leave any future video ideas you would like to see in the comments below!
Hi guys, welcome back to the Lone Fox YouTube channel.
Today I am doing a new video.
This is DIY Ikea hacks, which my friend Nastasha does these all the time, and I was with her
at Ikea yesterday, and I thought that I would just do them as well.
I actually got inspired by a couple things I saw, and I wanted to recreate them and just
like make some new, cool, trendy room decor pieces with them, and that's exactly what
I did in this video.
And if you're not already, you can subscribe to my channel.
I post DIYs every single week, and I'm going to start doing some like home decor hauls
and room tours and stuff like that included in here, so definitely give this video a thumbs
up if you would like to see that.
And I also have a fashion channel too, so I'll link that below.
That's my main YouTube channel.
This is my second one, but let's just get into these Ikea hacks.
This first project is the perfect side table or small coffee table, especially for a smaller
space.
And what I used was a metal stool, a floor cushion, and these Fructa ratchet straps,
which I found all at Ikea.
All the names are going to be mentioned below in case you want more like clarification.
But what I first did was flip over this floor cushion, and it actually has this wire inside,
which was really amazing because I was able to strap the stool on it.
And keep in mind, I got this stool for only $12.90, and then the floor cushion was about
$15.
So I made this really nice little miniature coffee table or side table for only about
$27.
And I used the Fructa strap, which is originally used to like strap things to your car or secure
them when you're moving or something like that.
But it was only a couple dollars, and I thought it would add a really, really nice, strong,
secure hold to this piece.
So I just wrapped it around a couple of the inside pegs and then around the stool and
then cranked it, which tightens it, of course.
And that's all you have to do.
I tied the excess around one of the other straps and just cut off the excess because
this strap was only a couple dollars.
And there you go.
You have your coffee table or side table.
Super easy, and it looks expensive like you got it at Urban or Anthro.
This next product is probably one of my favorite Ikea hacks ever.
I'm obsessed with this, and you're going to need three of these compliment macrame scarf
holders, some needles, embroidery floss, and a couple of clips.
And this is what they look like at Ikea.
They're only $5.99 each, and I used a total of three of them.
You can adjust it to whatever size you want this wall hanging to be, though.
And what you're going to first do is cut the hanger portion off.
And it's really nice because these loops are actually just all sewn together, and you can
see the threads.
So you're just going to cut the threads off.
It's super easy.
It takes about a couple seconds per.
And then you have a nice little flat panel of circle embroidery.
And what I did was actually thread my needle with some embroidery floss, and then I sewed
each of the panels together.
And it's so easy because they have so many different strings.
You just loop it through one of the sections, and then through the opposite section, you
just tie it off.
I just did it a couple of times per, and it's very repetitive at this point.
So you're just going to repeat the process all the way down, knotting and looping them
together.
Once you're done, you can sort of fold it up and add on your third panel if you'd like
to.
Add a fourth or a fifth.
However many you want to do.
It's totally up to you.
And you can make this into a really cool inspirational mood board, which is what I did.
And I do suggest hanging it on either corner as opposed to just the middle there.
And then I used my wooden clips just to hang on a couple of inspirational art pieces.
And then I also added sunglasses, but you can add belts, jewelry, accessories, hooks,
whatever you want.
And this is your completed macrame wall display.
This last project is super simple, but it looks really amazing on your couch or bed.
So it's this blanket, and it's called the Inga Brita blanket.
And I used some yarn and a plastic needle as well that I found at Michael's.
So what I did first was thread this really thick yarn through this plastic needle.
And all you're going to do for this DIY is literally go in and out all the way down the
edge of your blanket.
So you're just creating like a stitch around the edge, which I think just adds a very handmade
and nice little touch as opposed to just a plain blanket.
So I think this would be a great gift for somebody if you just wanted to spice up a
traditional little knit blanket.
You can just go around with maybe their favorite color or a selection of their favorite colors
and just go all the way around the edge.
And then when you get to the corners, I just like to go back through the corner a little
bit.
So I put it back down through and go back up and down a couple of times just to reinforce
it so it's not going to be pulling around the whole blanket in case one of the stitches
gets pulled.
It's not going to like warp the blanket or anything, it's just going to only pull that
one section.
And you're just going to go all the way around the side of the blanket, stitching in and
out.
It's really fast.
This blanket probably took me about 15 minutes to create from start to finish.
And I just love the little handmade stitch detail.
I think it's really cute and quirky and just adds a little nice element as opposed to just
a traditional little blanket.
Also, a really thick yarn like this gets the job done much quicker than a thin yarn, and
you can definitely see it.
