LeBron James, I've been in the NBA for over 30 years now.
There's always been a player who you can compare somebody to.
LeBron James is the first player that I've never seen another player that I can compare to.
You know, Tracy, Scotty Pippen, we're all guys 6'7", 6'8", great defenders, great scores, very athletic.
But LeBron outweighed those guys by 30 pounds.
Ooh, man, this is a freak of nature.
He's a freak of nature.
And being a small forward, you know, understand what type of player he is.
Like again, like Charles said, he's a player 6'8", 260, 270 with unbelievable speed and athleticism.
You can't, where have you ever seen that?
He actually could have been better in IR.
We're witnessing the greatest athlete of our generation.
We are.
Or maybe ever.
I mean, he's still arguably one of the best players to ever play this game.
And some may argue he's the best player to play this game.
You know, very few players.
I'm trying to think if there's anybody besides LeBron that has had that combination of speed and size and athleticism and strength.
So I think it's, I mean, look, LeBron is, I think, the greatest player to ever play.
I think LeBron James, what he has accomplished is the greatest thing I've probably ever seen in sports.
I've said that before.
For an 18-year-old kid to come into the NBA, and he's the only one who's ever been really good at 18.
Yep.
Like as great as Kobe was, he struggled his first few years, Kevin Garner and all those guys.
What LeBron James has done to be 18 years old, come into the NBA, live up to the hype, never gotten in a stitch of trouble.
Right.
It's one of the greatest things I've ever seen in my life.
The greatest score is not only its consistency, its longevity, and its amount.
LeBron James, playoff scoring.
Right?
Playoff scoring.
He passed Michael Jordan three seasons ago, and he's going to add to that.
Right?
Or before his career ends.
So to pass LeBron James in all-time playoff scoring records, somebody is going to have to do what?
Average 30 points a game and go to like 13 NBA finals.
That ----'s not going to be broken.
The playoff one's not.
And then he's going to pass Kareem.
So as much as we don't view him as a scorer, right?
Like Steph's greatest shooter, Kevin Durant's greatest like weapon as a scorer because he's so big.
But like who's the greatest scorer?
He doesn't approach the game as that.
But when you look at the records, they are that.
LeBron James is probably the greatest basketball player ever built.
Like built as far as like can do all of said things.
It will end the debate for the fools out there who question whether or not he ever deserved to be on the Mount Rushmore of basketball.
You won't debate that much longer.
You understand the greatness of him.
He's a four-time champion, four-time league MVP.
The professionalism, the durability, the versatility.
To be all-time in points and top five in assists, that's virtually unheard of.
And so I want to make sure I pay testament to his all-time greatness.
When we start talking about the best scorers of all time, let's remember there are people like Will Chamberlain that average 50 points in a season.
There are people like Michael Jordan that have 10 scoring titles.
But for him to acknowledge a past first player has the all-time scoring record is just remarkable.
The fact that he's getting ready to break Kareem's record and then he's going to play three or four more years after and he may add another championship is mind-blowing.
In order to break LeBron James' record one day, a player's going to have to play 25 years and average about 25 points a game.
It's not going to happen, especially in today's NBA with low management and guys not playing every night.
So think about it. With low management, a player's going to have to play about 27, 28 years and average 25 points a game to have a chance to break his record.
I don't think we're ever going to see it again.
Thank you to the Laker faithful. You guys are one of a kind.
To be able to be in the presence of such a legend and great as Kareem, it means so much to me. It's very humbling.
Please give a standing ovation to the captain, please.
My beautiful wife, my daughter, my two boys, my friends, my boys, my family, my mother, all my...
Anybody that's ever been a part of this run with me the last 20 years, 20 plus years, I just want to say I thank you so much because I wouldn't be me without y'all.
All y'all help, all y'all passion, all y'all sacrifices helped me get to this point.
And to the NBA, to Adam Silver, to the late, great David Stern, I thank you guys so much for allowing me to be a part of something I've always dreamed about.
And I've never in a million years dreamt this even better than what it is tonight. So, ****, man, thank you guys.
LeBron's career is one of someone who planned to dominate this game.
He got out of high school, he had the size and the talent to step right into the NBA, and he immediately started to have his effect.
And, you know, it's gone for almost 20 years now.
So I think that, you know, you got to give him credit for just the way that he planned to last and to dominate.
