Exploring The History of CHOCOLATE

Chocolate has been around for more than 2,000 years. It was first made by the Maya and Aztec people in Central America. They thought chocolate was a gift from their gods, and they used it in religious ceremonies, as medicine, and in food. The Mayans and Aztecs made a bitter drink out of chocolate by mixing it with spices and chili peppers. When the Spanish conquistadors came to the Americas in the 1600s, they added sugar to the drink to make it taste better. They then took it back to Europe, where it became very popular very quickly. In the centuries that followed, chocolate became a popular luxury and was often used as money. Today, chocolate is a multibillion-dollar business that comes in many forms, such as bars, hot chocolate, and sweets made with chocolate. Few big companies make most of the chocolate in the world, but there is a growing market for artisanal and fair-trade chocolate.
