Hey guys, today I'm here from Belgrade, Serbia from Kalemegdan Fortress which is probably
the biggest, definitely the most famous fortress in all of Serbia.
But today I won't be talking about Serbia.
This is going to be more of a how to travel video where I tell you about things that just
make travel easier for you and today I'll be talking about eSIMs and eSIMs from this
one particular company named HoloFly that I've found to be a really cool company offering
a really cool service.
So in case you don't know, let's start with what exactly is an eSIM.
An eSIM or an embedded SIM is basically a new sort of electronic SIM that you have inside
most new cell phones which removes the requirement of having physical SIMs that we've had to
deal with for forever basically and makes it something that can be in your phone that
you can download into it using Wi-Fi and just makes life a lot easier.
This part is especially important for travelers like me because when you're traveling a lot
you end up needing to use data in a lot of places and you end up getting a lot of SIM
cards like I have on the back of my phone but since I've been using this eSIM from
HoloFly for the last like two weeks now it seems to solve a lot of problems that you
traditionally have dealing with SIM cards when you're traveling to specially new countries.
There's a lot of advantages of having eSIMs.
First of all you don't need to physically have a SIM card that you need to like poke
out of your phone with the pointy thing that you need and changing SIMs and saves you from
all that hassle.
You can use multiple SIM cards at the same time because your phone as you surely know
is limited on how many physical SIMs it can handle at the same time.
And last but not least and probably the most important for me and for you as travelers
an eSIM is something you can set up electronically using Wi-Fi without having to have access
to this physical SIM card that can be tricky to get when you're going to a new country
or going to a new city even.
So I've talked about this a lot in a previous video that I did about crossing land borders
but when you go into a new country you need a lot of things.
You need a lot of apps to make life a lot easier for you.
You need Google Maps, you need something like Google Translate to be able to understand
what the locals are saying.
In that case what I would typically do as you see in my videos from Nepal, Sri Lanka,
Turkey etc. etc. is the moment I would get into a new country I would be scrambling for
the first day or half a day to try to get to a SIM card place and then I'd be getting
a SIM card.
With an eSIM you can set up an eSIM before you even go to the country and the moment
you go inside the country you automatically have data.
That means you automatically have full access to Google Maps, Uber, Google Translate, whatever
you may need to get around.
I've talked about this previously in another video too but there's one time I was traveling
in this region in the Balkans in 2018 and I was going from one country to the other.
The other country just didn't let me in because they didn't think I have the right visa.
So I ended up crossing the border back to the previous country which is Albania.
There's no cafes or anything where I could connect to a Wi-Fi to figure out where to
go next.
My only options were to like talk with taxi drivers who were probably trying to scam me
and get a lot of money out of me.
I couldn't figure out where the closest ATM was.
It was just altogether a big nightmare.
I ended up losing a full day of travel because I had to go to this random town and I had
to spend a night there because I didn't know what other hotels nearby were available because
I couldn't just Google that.
And all of that I think right now could have been very easily avoided if I just had an
eSIM with data where I would have just connected to the internet and figured everything out
and probably saved 12 hours at least of traveling on a very jam-packed trip.
So now I want to talk in particular about HoloFly which is a company that provides eSIMs
and has created these eSIMs keeping travelers like you and me particularly in mind.
Right now they're offering unlimited data plans to over 45 destinations and that's a
major number as far as eSIM companies go.
So they deliver their eSIMs electronically to every country in the world like they did
to me and they offer 24-7 customer support in case you're having trouble setting it up
or having any sort of issues with your eSIM whatsoever.
So when I ordered from SIM from HoloFly online I just basically got an email saying that
okay I have this for 6GB for 15 days for Serbia.
All I have to do is click on it, find the QR code on it and then just scan the QR code
and that's essentially all you have to do.
It takes you through the installation steps and it takes 30 seconds.
Once you do that you just basically have to do a few small steps to set it up on your
phone.
Just look up the SIM card manager if you're using an Android.
It's equally simple if you're using an Apple as well.
You go there and you turn on the SIM card and then you have to go to your mobile networks
and your mobile data and make sure they're connected to your eSIM and voila you get a
text message saying that your eSIM is activated and you can use the internet freely without
any hassle whatsoever.
Like I said before HoloFly is offering eSIM cards to 45 destinations where they offer
unlimited data and they have plans ranging from 1 week for up to 3 months so you can
get the plan you need depending on your travel needs and their plans prices range from as
little as to like $1 a day for unlimited data so it's a pretty good deal.
So I was just checking online for the options that they have for different countries.
I found out they have plans that are valid throughout all of Europe from plans ranging
from $19 of unlimited data for 5 days to 90 days of unlimited data for $99.
Since I'm discussing about eSIMs and all of its pros it's probably also good to discuss
some of the ways in which it can be not so convenient for people who are used to using
physical SIM cards.
So the thing about eSIMs is that this is new technology so you will need a smartphone or
a phone that is compatible with eSIMs so if you have a really old phone from like 20 years
ago that's probably not going to work but for the most part I think all of us have new
smartphones and eSIMs like HoloFly's eSIM will work with almost any modern smartphone.
The other tricky thing that you might want to keep in mind is that changing an eSIM from
one phone to the other can be trickier than just simply removing a physical SIM card but
this is a problem that affects very few people because most of us like me are not using multiple
devices and switching SIM cards constantly so this probably won't affect you either.
So if all of that sounds great to you and you think you might be interested in getting
an eSIM for your next travel or next trip to wherever you go I'd say follow the link
on the screen and that will also be on my video description and comments to check out
HoloFly's website and check out the different plans that they offer to whatever destination
you're interested in and I've been talking to them and they've also offered a special
coupon code for my viewers that's nadironthego so if you use that coupon code you get a 5%
discount on your purchase as well so make sure to check that out if you're interested
in getting an eSIM.
Alright that is it for this video I'll be releasing more videos from Serbia and the
Balkans and Eastern Europe and maybe Turkey maybe we'll see.
I'll catch you guys on the next video from wherever I am.
