Friends, welcome back to our channel. This is part two of our campervan travel trip with Richie and
his VW Kombi. Today after eight hours of driving with brakes in between from Taiping to Banjarang
Titiwangsa and then to Kelantan, we are in search of a place to wild camp. In this video we discover
beautiful beaches to camp in in Kelantan and Trengganu and we also run into some unexpected
drama such as getting Mama Bear very very stuck in some dry sand. We also get caught
in some very bad weather when we made a decision to drive through Bukit Tinggi instead of using
the Karak Highway. We are in Kampung Surau and we are passing, I don't know where we're passing
but we're headed to somewhere to park by the beach and we've already been driving all day. We left
Taiping at eight, nine in the morning. We've crossed the Greek
highway and we've had a lot of good food. Now we're almost at our destination. The sign says Pasir Putih.
Hey, what's happening here? Who won't let you touch Roxy? Jealous? I caught you on camera boo.
We use Google Maps to help us recce places to camp. This one we found is beside Villa Daniela.
We have named the spot Haris Campsite if you're thinking about checking it out.
Go onto Google Maps and you'll be able to locate it. There is a major problem in Malaysia and
sadly this is apparent with every beach we visit. Rubbish simply left everywhere. We spend at least
an hour collecting other people's trash before we can even set up camp. As you can see here, this
problem is overwhelming and we hope to bring some sort of awareness to people camping in nature.
Take your trash out with you. Animals don't create rubbish. Humans do and we need to make a positive
change. Please help keep Malaysia clean. This spot is quite remote in the sense that there are no
shops or gas stations nearby so be sure you have enough water supply before setting up camp here.
We didn't and we ended up having to ask a house nearby for some water. As it turns out, they were
also the owners of this land. The owner's name is Haris and that's why we named this spot Haris.
So when we set up camp, they came for a visit. If you're coming, it would be good to inform him
that you'd like to camp there. Currently it's free because there are no facilities.
Day four. We noticed that in van life, we tend to wake up really early with the rising sun and also
we tend to sleep much earlier compared to house life. In the morning, we feed Roxy and Boom
and then we prepare to head down towards our next wild camp location.
The next location was recommended to us by Dan and Olga of Payong Getaway. Do you guys
remember an old video of ours sharing our Chinese New Year stay in Payong Cherating around 2018?
So in 2019, a couple called Dan and Olga took over this Payong campsite and renamed it
Payong Getaway. We will share our August visit in the next video so stay tuned. You won't want
to miss that episode. Anyway, on the last day we were staying at Payong Getaway, Dan and Olga
told us about this wonderful place called Pantai Penarik that they visited before.
They told us that this was one of their favorite places to camp and today we are going to share it
with you. It was a short drive to Pantai Penarik and already as you enter the area, you will notice
how beautiful the scenery is. When we arrive at Pantai Penarik, we turn left and drive further
in towards Kampong Mangkok and this is where the landscape gets really interesting. Even
Roxy and Bo get really excited when they're heading towards a new location. Coconut trees line
the horizon and as you head in, you will notice there is a river running alongside it and on the
other side is the sea.
What's special about being able to park anywhere is that our view changes every day. We are able
to park our tiny home on wheels right by the ocean without the need to check into a hotel.
Although we don't have all of life's creature comforts that hotels offer, we have what we need
and we have adapted to a simpler way of life. In a house, we have unlimited water, electricity,
a flushing toilet. Out here, we learn to use everything wisely and are always aware of wastage.
It has now become a really good habit in our life.
We decide to stay one more night here and also relocate to a different spot.
That's when we find out that Mama Bear has sunken into soft dry sand.
We always usually check but I don't know why this time around we didn't.
We haven't bought a set of mud tracks yet and of course this has to happen for us to learn.
Richie decides to test out his rope and try to pull us out
but the sand is way too dry even for his Kombi to get a good grip.
One, two, three. So we go off in search of help.
Just at the entrance to this area was a house with a four-wheel drive so we try our luck.
So Richie, what's going on? We're getting help from the JCB.
It's a real help from this yellow JCB beast. So let's see.
20 minutes later, guess who comes out to our rescue?
He brought out his biggest toy in the garage to come pull us out.
Apparently many vehicles get stuck here because it's 20 feet
of dry sand and supposedly there had not been any rain here for two months already.
This digger made Mama Bear look as light as a feather.
Look how deep that was. No way.
Of course when you say there's been no rain for two months, what do you think happens next?
We're having a squall. You can see out here it's all dark all the way along one big line
and then over this side we can't see any definition behind the trees there.
So we're surrounded. We've got one big bank of clouds and rain coming towards us.
We're just keen. Okay here we go. Okay see you. Great. When it rains,
Richie runs into his Kombi and we run to hide inside Mama Bear.
For his beer. Today we were told we were told that two months no rain
and then now so we're testing out the vehicle. We have ventilation fans running.
We have the windows popped down on both sides and we have this guy open to take the air out
and we have our dog safe inside here. And of course we have goal zero at 70 percent.
Oh and we have our goal zero after four days. All right. Yeah we have run this thing since Sunday.
Today is already Thursday. This battery is awesome. We haven't had to charge up since Sunday.
So this is our final day in Pantai Penarik, Kampong Mangkok.
We wake up early today and we feed the dogs, Roxy and Bo, their favorite meal.
After that we slowly pack up and we make ourselves breakfast. Whilst having breakfast we saw two
little piglets running in the background as if they were running home from school.
Bo of course doesn't like that.
And then we slowly make our way back home.
This is a bad idea.
But we just passed a really really deep section. There's a lot of water.
So there's cars opposite direction.
Are we gonna make it?
you
